Fashion student Lacey Weston is desperate to leave the city and go home to Jumbuck Springs. Her three older brothers are adamant she’s not. They made a death bed promise to their mother that Lacey would stay the distance at design school and Ethan, the oldest, takes this responsibility very seriously. But Lacey is deeply homesick and determined not to be dissuaded again. She’s also impulsive … enough to try anything – even faking a pregnancy.
Ex-cop turned mechanic, Cooper Grainger – one of Ethan’s oldest friends – agrees to watch out for Lacey in the city even though he has a history with her he’d rather forget. How hard could it be, right? But a couple of years later, Coop is over pulling Lacey out of scrapes and cleaning up her messes as she tries to outrun her grief and sense of dislocation. He takes her back to Jumbuck Springs so she can persuade her brothers to let her come home. But things don’t go according to plan. Before Coop knows it Lacey’s pregnant and he’s putting his hand up as the fake baby daddy, filling in for the town mechanic and moving in with her at the local pub.
Lacey is thrilled to have won a reprieve but nothing about the situation sits well with Coop. Least of all having sweet little Lacey Weston as his new roomie…

I love this story every time I read it!
Lacey is an independent firecracker who is tired of having all of her older brothers all up in her business. The worst is when her eldest brother asks his best friend, Coop, to keep an eye on her when she’s in the city for college. But then she recognizes Coop as the mind-blowing one night stand she can’t seem to forget. One little lie leads to another in her attempts to get her brothers to back off and let her live her life, and before she knows it she and Coop are faking a pregnancy and she’s trying to remember all the reasons she wanted to go to design school in the first place.
This is a hot and sexy love story, a sweet romance, and a coming-of-age tale all in one. Lacey may be young but she knows her own mind, and Coop is just about the sweetest guy ever. I love their banter, their negotiations, their fiery attraction that has always been so much deeper than physical. I loved the way Coop made sure that she had all the career opportunities she would want, yet respected her freedom to choose what she really wanted to do. The scene in the garage with her car was a long-time coming, but more than worth the wait. It’s a delightful story that gets better each time I read it.
Realistic characters, steamy. Couldn’t put down.
Big Brothers, Little Sister
Tracey/Lacey, her real name and the one her family calls her, was pushed to go to college. Yes she always wanted to go to design school, but not after her mom died. Being the baby and only girl the boys pushed. Cooper was a ex-cop who was friends with Ethan, Lacey’s older brother, he asked to be there for her as needed. But he met Tracey, she 24, before Ethan introduced her as Lacey, she 19. Two years later and he still her friend, but now maybe more.
Amy Andrews is a fairly new to me author but I’ve loved everything I’ve read of hers. I loved Some Girls Do! And it’s the first in a new series, which makes me happy.:) Loved Lacey and Cooper. Some Girls Do was sexy, smart, witty and fun. I’m so happy I found another author to love!
Lacey finds her own way, pushing back at her older brothers who think they know best and connecting with Coop to make a full life for herself where she belongs.
A book set in the Aussie outback with some very likable characters, a tightknit family of three older brothers and the little sister they are beyond overprotective of made for a fun read. Oh, did I mention they made a deathbed promise to their mother to make sure Lacey went to college for her designer degree? Well, they did. And they take that vow very seriously, even to the point of not listening to what Lacey really needs. That’s what starts all of the trouble. Or all of the fun, depending on how you look at it. Even with all of the pluses in this book, there were plenty of things to annoy me. A fake pregnancy? Nope, that’s a line you don’t cross. Lacey’s immaturity was beyond frustrating and how so many people enabled her drove me a little crazy. I don’t think it’s more than a 3-Star read. It was still fun, though.
For me, this was really more of a 3 1/2 star read. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good story, but it left somethings unanswered. If it hadn’t been for that, I’s probably have given it a 4 star rating.
A great, fun and fast read!
Thi is a well-written excellent story. I enjoyed it very much.
I really liked this book .
This was a fun read about the “down under”. Quite enjoyable!
This book started off really well. Coop knew what he wanted and went for it, but once he found out Lacey was his best mate’s little sister he spends the rest of the book pushing her away and just being a white knight rescuing her. Even after he realizes he loves her, he still hesitates. It could be that he’s 13 years older than her, but according to him that’s not it. It’s a bro code, I guess. Don’t sleep with your best friend’s sister. Oy. Get OVER it.
Lacey is hurting so she participates in as much destructive behavior as she can and whenever she’s in a jam Coop pulls her out of it and saves the day. Should have let her crash and burn a bit, IMO. Maybe she would have grown up a little sooner.
The brothers really pissed me off. The did not listen to Lacey AT ALL. They just kept telling her what she was GOING to do, according to them, constantly throwing up their dead mother to get their way.
Those are the only reasons I didn’t give this book 5 stars. I just can’t get past bull headed men who don’t listen. Fake pregnancy? Irritating that she would lie to her brothers, but I fully understand why she did it. Coop standing up for her? Swoon worthy. The story was well written, the plot was thought out. I didn’t find any editing errors. I would really like to read more of this series as the lives of the brothers now intrigue me. Especially Ethan. I’d like to know what makes him tick.
Going for the next book I the series! Yessss!
This book has made me want to go to Australia!!!! It was a really good read.
This book was so terribly slow…and the steam and passion was missing, it didn’t arrive until the last few pages of the book! I mostly skimmed up until about 75%. Just disappointed.
Loved it
