First in a brand new series about a Chicago graduate student’s introduction into a society of vampires.
Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn’t exactly glamorous, but it was Merit’s. She was doing fine until a rogue vampire attacked her. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsucker and this one decided the best way to save her life was to make her the walking undead. make her the walking undead.
Turns out her savior was the master vampire of Cadogan House. Now she?s traded sweating over her thesis for learning to fit in at a Hyde Park mansion full of vamps loyal to Ethan Lord o the Manor Sullivan. Of course, as a tall, green-eyed, four-hundred- year-old vampire, he has centuries? worth of charm, but unfortunately he expects her gratitude? and servitude. But an inconvenient sunlight allergy and Ethan?s attitude are the least of her concerns. Someone’s still out to get her. Her initiation into Chicago’s nightlife may be the first skirmish in a war and there will be blood.

This is one of my top 5 all time favorite series! The last book is set to come out in a few months and I’m both elated to finally read it and terribly sad for them to be over! Merit and Ethan are two of my favorite characters to ever be written! And I laugh out loud so much when I read these. There’s paranormal, romance, drama, action, comedy. A …
Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires series has been a long-time favorite of mine. Found family, badass sword fights, stunning character arcs…it’s badass. Start with SOME GIRLS BITE.
Recommending the first books in series that I love. Some Girls Bite was a breath of fresh air. Merit is a joy to read and I love the exploration around consent in turning people into vampires. Great villains, great setting of Chicago as a character and an all-round fun mythology.
I love this entire series! I picked it up because I’d been reading a lot of kids books and needed something more grown up and the summary on the back looked like just what I needed. I’m so glad I found it! Merit, the main character, was so relate-able and I loved every minute (even the moments that made me yell at my book). The only thing I …
I’ve been attempting to not only read new books but older releases that have been on my TBR for a long time. That’s where this book came in. I’ve been craving something paranormal and remembered how much I loved the Sookie Stackhouse series so decided to give this one a try! Wahoo, I loved it! Some Girls Bite is the first book in the Chicagoland …
I’m always leery about trying new urban fantasy authors. I’ve been disappointed a LOT by how the series progresses through the main romance.
So far I enjoyed this one. Even though I wasn’t thrilled with the original consort plot. Sigh.
Yes, please! I always recommend this series to friends because of its perfect balance of steamy and action packed. Plus, the world-building was unique and fun. If I were to choose a vampire world to live in, it would be Chloe Neill’s!
Merit and Ethan. Need I say more?
I picked this up after seeing it on the UTC recommendations for Romanceopoly urban fantasy.
Merit was a complicated character for me and is probably the reason I won’t give this a full 5 stars. I expected some “woe is me” from the beginning but by halfway I really wanted her to buck up sooner and also, maybe not be so hung up on a certain …
This book was amazing. Chloe Neill is an amazing writer. The characters have an amazing personality, many unforgettable one’s. I highly recommend this book if you like romantic, funny, and supernatural beings.
Griping world-building
The plot of book is fairly straight forward. Graduate student Merit is attacked by a vampire, but rescued and turned by another vampire. It is quickly revealed that another young woman matching Merit’s description was killed by a vampire a week or so before her attack. Authorities believe that vampire serial killer on the …
This is one of those books/series that has been on my TBR forever, but I just never got around to reading it. But recently, a friend started reading the series and stated that she was enjoying it and spurred me to move it up. I am so glad I did, I am loving this world! I love the main character, Merit. She’s fierce and feisty and while she …
My first vampire series. I really enjoyed it. Read the whole series and the next two books in the next series. I truly get a kick out of reading what Chloe Neill writes!
What an excellent book 1 of the Chicago vampire series. Well it’s started with a bang, consuming me completely. I couldn’t tear myself away if I’d wanted to. Full of excellent characters that connect with each other wonderfully, they’re interesting and passionate. Friendships have easy strong relationships, the story is unpredictable. I love that …
I loved the first installment in Neill’s Chicagoland Vampire series! All of the characters are fairly entertaining. Merit’s commentary is truly exceptional. She’s a major smartass, which makes for great interactions with a certain centuries old vampire master. I can’t wait to continue on and see what’s in store for these great characters!
Love this whole series. One of my favorites!
Great start to what looks to be a very engaging series!!
My kind of fiction; vampires in the real world. I wish there had been more build-up to the mystery part of the book.
Love, love LOVED this book!!!! It’s exciting, fast-paced, funny and had me fully engaged until the very end!
The world building is interesting and the characters are dark, dangerous and well-crafted.
Ethan is the biggest d*ckhead ever!
I’m on to the next book!
Full disclosure: I have a PhD in English and I’m an English professor in my other life, so a series about a young female English grad student who gets bitten and turned into a vampire was liable to be right in my wheelhouse. I went into SOME GIRLS BITE (Chicagoland Vampires Book 1) expecting good things and wasn’t disappointed. I thoroughly …
