Love the pace, the snappy dialogue, the crackerjack lawyering, the courthouse soap opera.
This is book one of a series. It is a fun, quick read. The characters definitely have their differences, but bicker and learn from each other in an entertaining way. The main plot and subplots were well integrated to tie up nicely at the end. Note: although this is a legal story, it’s not bogged down with a bunch of heavy legal scenes to plod …
satirical banter between the main characters was at times biting and at other times whimsical; story lines were mostly believable and the secondary characters added lots of humor (and some gravitas when needed)
the writing was humorous without being overly vulgar or profane
great story line!!
This is the funniest writing I’ve read in at least a year–and I read 2 to 3 book a week!
The plot is almost secondary to the banter between the two protagonists, but still holds your attention with lots of ‘inside baseball’ discussion of the backstage legal maneuvering.
Excellent and well worth the read, like all of Paul Levine’s books.
Billed as “John Grisham meets Dave Barry.” Solomon and Lord are a Florida courthouse Odd Couple: Solomon the sleazy, sloppy male defense lawyer and Lord the neat, by-the-book female prosecutor. Of course, romantic sparks fly. The mysteries here are excellent—serious plots with appropriate red herrings and surprise reveals. The humor comes from the …
So humorous & creative.
Hysterical! Kept me up so late at night laughing fitfully, that my wife didn’t talk to me the next day for lack of sleep. Author Paul Levine should consider a career in stand-up comedy in addition to writing!
Delightful legal thriller — humor, twists and turns and fun characters.
liked the characters, good plot. Nice, easy, entertaining read.
I like the irreverence, satire and the breezy writing style. Always a good read.
Absolutely loved this book. Loved the characters. Great writing.
Loved this book, fun read. Many laugh out loud moments, great banter between Solomon and Lord.
Good characters and interesting story.
I was drawn to this book because I have attorney relatives named LORD. The book turned out to be so much fun, I will read others in the series.
The book is a fun read with some good dialog between the two opposite characters. I also like the lawyer/trial type books without a lot of violence.
I loved this series! The banter between the two lawyers is delightful and makes you want to read into the night!
I almost put this book down after the first few pages, but I’m glad I persisted. Good character development.
I thought this was a lot of fun. Great characters, interesting plot and just a whole lot of fun to read. Salomon’s “savant” brother steals a lot of the scenes, but it’s worth it. I’m assuming there’s a sequel (or many?) and I will read them all.
