Solitude Gorge, Book Ten, Redemption Mountain Historical Western Romance SeriesTravis Dixon carved out a life in the rugged Montana territory, far away from the memories of a past defined by the Civil War and personal tragedy. Training wild horses fills his days, while bunkhouse chatter completes his nights. An unlikely friendship with a beautiful widow provides the only female companionship he’s … companionship he’s had since the heartbreaking death of his wife and daughter.
Isabella Boucher, a wealthy East Coast widow, is content working as a nanny to a prominent ranching family. She’s developed friendships she can depend upon and a special bond with a man fighting his broken past. A man she loves, but who is unable to return her affection.
Stunned when Travis decides to put distance between them, she makes the difficult decision to accept invitations from other eligible men. In time, she hopes to forget her love for the rugged cowboy and force him from her heart.
Unfortunately, she learns choices such as this are never that easy. As much as Isabella yearns for a life with Travis, their tragic histories form a barrier neither can surmount.
The arrival of a friend from Isabella’s past, plus a series of events threatening the town, forces them to take a hard look at themselves, at the same time doing their best to stay out of the crosshairs of a new enemy.
Danger lurks in every direction, appearing in the form of men without conscience or remorse.
Will protecting each other help break down their walls or force another wedge between them? Will Travis be able to push his pain aside to see what’s been in front of him all along?

I thought this was a very enjoyable read. Characters from earlier books in the series always make appearances. A clean read with Christian background. Suitable for all ages.
A great clean, well written historical romance set in the old west, with plenty of action and adventure! Shirleen Davies has done another outstanding job setting the stage in words for a great historical Western romance! She describes the area so well that you can actually picture yourself there! This book was just about impossible to put down once I started reading it. Travis is a well known horse trainer working for one of the biggest ranches in the area training wild horses. He has met and truly cares for Isabella who is a wealthy widow that is currently being a Nanny for a neighbor. Travis, doesn’t think he is worthy to love again as he lost his wife and child to a disease while he was serving in the Civil War. Isabella is attracted to Travis as well and the adventures that they go through are amazing. This book has a great story and is very well written and even though it is part of a series, it is a great stand alone story!
I was drawn into this book from the beginning. It was very hard to leave until the book was done
Shirleen Davies brings us the 10th story in her Redemption Mountain Series with the story of Travis and Isabella. Shirleen has a gift for description of the setting in Montana for this series and I can almost smell the pines trees and feel the fresh clean air on my face. I am challenged with Shirleen’s series by not having kept up with reading every single book in this series so I am not familiar with all the characters but that doesn’t detract too much from the story, in my opinion. I like that Shirleen recognizes the fact that most pioneer women were very strong, smart, hardworking and contributed as equally as the men. The author makes her characters very real dealing with issues of loss, pain, happiness, romance, and of course, love.
I do not like reviews that retell the story and give it away so I refuse to do that in my reviews. I believe it spoils it for other readers and if you want a synopsis of the story those are available without my input.
I would recommend this book.
I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
For me Travis and Isabella’s story is different from the rest of the Redemption Mountain Series. I enjoyed reading Solitude Gorge but kept waiting for the rise in action, which is typical of this series.
Get ready to settle in and travel to the old west with Travis and Isabella as the author pens another Redemption Mountain tale. Always enjoy her characters, settings that make you feel the wind and rain, and getting to catch up with what is going on with the familiar inhabitants of the ranch and town. Can be read alone but better as part of this series. Another Keeper.
Author’s copy with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
i loved the story, i have read a lot of the series and love them. i was given a copy of the book but this is an honest review. if you like cowboys and second chances you have to read the books,
Solitude Gorge by Shirleen Davies
Redemption Mountain Series Book Ten
Travis Dixon fought for the South and lost plenty. Returning to his Tennessee home to find his wife and daughter had died. Now, he works on a Montana ranch taming mustangs. He’s enjoyed the friendship of a widow in town, but realizes he just can’t chance love again…and lets her go.
Isabella Boucher won’t marry for any reason but love next time around. And she could easily love Travis…but he doesn’t return her feelings. She realizes it’s time to move forward once again. To start living her life without depending on others. To move on without Travis.
The book continues giving glimpses into the lives of characters that have had their stories and more. Many other little stories are happening along with the thread of romance. Excellent story.
