Joanna “Mac” McGregor loves her father, and she’ll do anything to keep him safe after Alzheimer’s starts to steal his mind. That takes money, and Mac uses her only skills—those of soldiering—when she takes up a security contract to protect VIPs in Iraq. She doesn’t have time for men, her last vacation fling in Fiji relegated as one perfect moment to hold close during the grim reality of war.… war.
Soldier and protector, Louie Lithgow is tired of fighting—the constant danger—and has decided this is his last contract. He wants to retire, sink his savings into a place on the beach, and find the sexy Joanna, his holiday lover.
Mac’s arrival in Iraq causes consternation. They’ve both been economical with the truth, but the attraction sizzling between them flares hot and bright. They embark on a clandestine affair—professional and confident during their high-danger day, passionate with the release of emotional stress during their torrid nights. One thing is clear—they have different goals and the future is both murky and dangerous…if they survive their contracts.
Warning: Contains a military alpha male and a determined female soldier, melt-your-panties sex, friendship and camaraderie, and…oh, more hot New Zealand romance.

A really good military romance!
Oh my! Can I say how much I adored this story?!?
Joanna or “Mac” is a soldier for the New Zealand Special Forces and she’s good at what she does. She also has a good reason for signing up for the more dangerous jobs… she needs the money to care for her father. But deep down, she’s still a woman and that’s how she originally met Louie. They were both on vacation and ended up having a fling while they were there. Imagine their surprise, however, when she gets stationed at Louie’s last posting. Then add into the mix the fact that they are still attracted to each other and things heat up fast.
These two are so good for each other and the heat between them is scorching hot! I was hooked from the first page to the last.
This is the second book in the Military Men series but it easily read as a standalone. But let’s be honest here… so far, this series is amazing, so why wouldn’t you want to read it from start to finish?

This book was gripping, well written & the chemistry between the characters, Louis & Joanna, sizzled throughout this wonderful read.
Well done Shelley. I look forward to more!
Mac is on the mission as protection for a reporter for the money because her father is sick. She never expected to run into her ex-lover Louie while she was there. Sparks fly between them again and its like they have never been apart. Louie looked for Mac after they had been together in Fiji but she left him with fake info. When things get tough for her with her father she turns to Louie for help. However when a chance to make more money gets offered to Mac but it comes with more danger. When the mission goes bad Mac gets hurt and lands up back home injured. Will she wait for Louie before she signs back up for another mission?
This is a great story that will have you on the edge on the edge of your seat. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to an book lover.

This was a page turner from the beginning to the end. The characters are well developed and engaging with enough twist and turns to keep me entertained. Plus the chemistry is steamy.

Louie is working his last stint as private security in Iraq before retiring to a beach with the girl he met on his last vacation. Once he finds her, that is. Joanna, or Mac, took on a contract to work in Iraq in order to pay for her father’s nursing home bills. Neither of them expected to see the other there. Louie and Mac bunk together and soon agree to a casual sex agreement. The stress of the job and their growing feelings complicate matters for them both. I received an advance copy and voluntarily reviewed this book.
Soldier With Benefits by Shelley Munro. Joanna “Mac” McGregor and Louie Lithgow have a past–a holiday fling in Fiji. The two of them are in the same profession, soldiering (or, the military). They’re stationed in the same area at the same time… imagine their surprise when they see each other!
This is an incredibly good book by a talented author

Louie and Mac met on vacation on Fiji. They lied about what they did for a living and parted when the vacation was over. Mac takes up a contract in the security sector and goes to Iraq. When she gets she find out Louie is her boss. They find out they still want each other but Mac has a secret and she sure it will break them up. I really liked this book.
The second book in my Military Men series, a well written military romance that kept me turning pages. Joanna “Mac” McGregor and Louie Lithgow’s story has suspense, drama, danger, shooting, and romance. These two first meet in Fiji but have not told each other who they really are. Then they meet again in Iraq on assignment they become room mates, with benefits. A book I enjoyed reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Joanna had met an amazing man on vacation in Fiji. Louie said he was a lawyer. She said she was a secretary. It was a hot, fun leave.
When she returned to New Zealand, her father was worse, his Alzheimer’s at the point that he no longer recognized her. She mustered out from active duty and took a contract in Iraq.
SPOILER ALERT
Imagine her surprise when she saw the man in charge. Her Fiji fling, Louie.
Nothing like bunking with an ex in a hot zone.
But with the connection between the two of them, is theirs really just a friends with benefits situation? Are they brave enough to try for more?
Friendship, family and love in different shapes and forms.

Vacation fling…
Her “vacation fling” is just what Joanna needed before taking on her new assignment. Louie’s “vacation fling” is what he needed before taking on his last assignment. What will happen when they find themselves on the same assignment? Can they keep things strictly professional or will they need to keep their actions covert? DUH…this is a story by Shelley Munro so what do you think happens?!? Good thing the desert is already hot…..

Lots of action, adventure suspense and a sexy hero. What more can a girl ask for. This is 1 of those 1 night reads because you just can’t put it down until you find out what happens. I am never disappointed in her books.

I liked this book. There is lots of excitement, danger, action, suspense, emotional tension and heat. The chemistry and pull of attraction between Mac and Louie was easy to feel. I would have liked to see more of a build-up of emotion between the H&h instead of just lust.
This story not only gives a glimpse of what life is like for some soliders in the “sand-box” on the daily, but it features a tough-as-nails, sexy, yet still vulnerable female soldier who signs up for private security to help pay for her father’s medical bills. She meets up with a past ruin-me-for-all-others fling who turns out to also be a solider. They both try to keep it strictly platonic, but their chemistry almost burns their clothes right off them. It’s a steamy story about learning to let others in and letting love bloom.

Mac is a warrior, a soldier and a strong woman.
Joanna “Mac” McGregor needs money, a lot of it and fast. She’s ex military and us working private security in Baghdad. She’s the primary caregiver for her father.
In Baghdad, she runs into Louie Lithgiw again. He’s working the same security detail as she, doesn’t want her there, because she’s a woman and they are rooming together.
Oh, and they had a fling in Fiji a few months ago.
Mac and Louie have diametrically opposite goals. Louie wants out and this is his last mission. And he wanted to find Joanna to have a future with her.
Mac just wanted a hook up and now to take care of her father.
Will they both make it out of Baghdad alive?

I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.

I liked the story. It’s a little wash-rince-repeate for several chapters then the story picks up a bit.
And ends with an HEA.

Soldier With Benefits is action-packed & VERY SPICY!!!
Mac and Louie never expected to see each other again after their fling in Figi. So when they were on the same protection detail in Iraq, they were surprised, to say the least. Especially since they had both given fake names and professions on vacation.
This book is so well described, I easily pictured the desert and war zones. I was on the edge of my seat worrying if everyone would make it through the horrific experiences. The sex scenes were equally detailed. I understood that Mac and Louie needed to unwind after a battle and used sex as a stress-reliever. But there was too much of it for my liking. Even so, I couldn’t help but get caught up with this couple, wishing them a happy-ever-after.
If you like sexy books with dangerous war situations, you’ll like this book.
