Review I was so excited to read Big and Nyah’s story. Romantic suspense books are my favorite to read and SE Cooper is a great voice in the genre. Solace is the second book of the Hunter Series but may be read as a standalone. The author gives enough background on the characters and the past action to get new readers up to speed and previous readers a nice recap. Ms. Cooper’s characters are well-developed and her fast-paced plot pulls the reader right into the story and makes them fall head over heels in lust with James ‘Big’ Parker.
Big is a man who has had life kick him in the guts. A boy who grew up in a horrible home, only to be rescued by a group of violent bikers, the Vultures. Realizing this is not the place for him he finds his way to the Redeemers and a more peaceful life, or so he thought. Ten years later he is still haunted by his past when he meets Nyah Hunter, who he doesn’t realize is the key to his future.
Nyah grew up with a loving family but her fairy-tale life didn’t emerge as she hoped. Helping others to their HEA is her life in her bridal boutique, but something about the burly biker who rescued her calls to her heart. The witty banter and humor throughout the book adds to the pleasure of the story and really sets up the relationships of the major players in the book. Oh and lets not forget the sexiness that is James Parker, he invented sex on a stick and the love scenes are smoking.
Their journey is fraught with roadblocks and danger. Intrigue and suspense abound and the passion and love is palpable. Ms. Cooper hits all the emotions with this couple: pain, longing, trust, anger, lust and above all love. This author has a knack for letting the reader think things are all well and good and BAM something unexpected happens. She also does an excellent job of showcasing the other characters and catching up the readers of Silhouette on what’s happening with the previous couple.
One click this book now, you won’t be sorry. I do believe there is one Hunter brother left, and Kerr’s tale should be another exciting journey.

I decided that I could live my life on an almost romance. After all, a fantasy couldn’t hurt your feelings, and an illusion wouldn’t break your heart. If I had to make that moment last for a lifetime, I would.
The closest I’d ever got to sneaking around in bushes was when Dad had me track Mrs. Hozier’s stalker, and that was not a situation I cared to remember.
“Eh, hello,” Demo called, “Bad guy about to perform something nasty. The least you could do was give me your attention.”
My Review:
Reading this story was like working out at the gym, it required effort with some of the movements being rather difficult and less than enjoyable, but it was a worthwhile and beneficial endeavor and I’m usually smiling with a sense of accomplishment by the time I finish. I recall having similar difficulties with the first book in this series as this cagey author seems to enjoy tossing the reader into the middle of the story and then slowly filling in the gaps with her steamy intrigue. Despite my petty frustrations and vexations with her pacing, Ms. Cooper has churned out yet another action-packed, cringe-worthy, and intriguing tale with lots of sexy yet filthy talking alpha males who cannot speak without expletives, sizzling sensual scenes, heartbreaking and tragic backstories, gruesome sadistic sociopaths, and lots of peril with several plot twists thrown in to keep us on our toes.
