Five SWEETHEART stars! One of the best Second Chance Romance I have read.
Holy sweetness! This book is the most heartwarming I have read over the year. Solace left me with a tooth sweet. Second chances are not my thing but S.L. Scott made me addicted to it. It is clear that she put her heart in Jason and Delilah’ story as she always do her books. She is a talented writer who always delivers masterpieces. It’s a pleasure to read any of her books and this one is not the exception.
Do you think love deserves second chances? Could a broken heart be repair by the same person who broke it? Can love last forever? Love is the most complicated feeling. You do not have to understand it, you feel it. And it happens at any stage of our life.
Love is pure and we shall treasure it. Sometimes, it happens at the wrong stage of your life and you lost it and you think you won’t find it again. But there is always faith and trust.
All of that is beautifully represented in Solace. S. L. Scott gifts us a story where love, faith, trust and redemption are permanently linked. This time is about two younger souls whose hearts were broken because of distrust and lies from a harmful man.
They said young love is lust and hormones mixed but what Jason and Delilah had were something more. They were naive and some wrong decisions torn them apart. They took different paths and their hearts suffered during their breakup. It’s just when Jason returns to home that they will start over again. Many things happened during that time apart. They matured and changed. However their feelings still the same.
If you are looking for a sweet and deep love story, this book is for you. It is a must read you shall grab. I highly recommend Solace for those who are romantic and believe in second chances.
Be prepared for a heroine whose body and soul were bruised. I absolutely hated what she went through. No women shall allow any kind of hurt. Physical or emotional. Delilah is a strong character but at the same time she is delicate and sensitive. She is the cheerleader who fall in love with the the football star boy. A bit of a cliché.
If you are into bad boys then let Jason be your next book boyfriend. He is sweet and his sassy mouth is something you would appreciate. As the synopsis state: He put the BAD in bad boy! He is not a boy, he is a man ready to take back what it was his since the beginning. He will be determined to be happy with the woman he loves. The girl who stole his heart, the same who broke it into pieces and later glue them with her tears and forgiveness.
This is the book that put PERFECTION in capital letters.
A very sweet and swooned second chance romance. Loved it and loved more the chemistry between these characters. And oh my. There are some definite steamy scenes too! Great job!
There are some authors I just go straight into the books with reading the synopsis and SL Scott is one of them and I’m so glad I did it with this one. When the penny dropped and I realised who Jason was I may have squealed a little oh okay a lot (don’t ask I’m not telling).
This is a second chance romance and from the start I was invested in Jason and Delilah’s story. Thankfully we don’t have to guess about what happened in the past because as we read we get flashbacks from both perspectives. One thing I adored was just how deeply and hard Jason loved that man is just delicious. His dark past and the decisions he has made tortures him on a daily basis, watching him work through this was written so well. Delilah has been through so much that I was praying for her to get the happiness she deserves. With a host of secondary characters that add depth to this book that I want to know more about.
I cannot recommend this book enough read it you will not be disappointed.
**** I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ****
I was excited to read this when I found out about it. I was going through my Goodreads newsfeed and the author was giving a shout-out to readers and bloggers alike saying she needed people to read it and review and possible promote it on blogs. I was like “hey, I have a blog, I wanna do it all!” I was nervous because I have never done something like that but it was awesome! So here we are!
For awhile I hadn’t heard anything so I was feeling disappointed and sad like I wasn’t picked… then come to find out I looked at my kindle on the 19th and BAM! It was there waiting for me, I don’t think I have ever been so excited and jovial in my life over an ARC in my kindle. I couldn’t believe it!
Once I started reading about them I got sucked into their lives. Delilah and Jason are high school sweethearts. The love they have for each other is so palpable, that you can feel it through each page you read. This is a true love story, most definitely. The kind that makes your heart ache, the kind that makes you want that for yourself. It was almost like you were reading about actual people instead of characters. Solace reminded me of The Notebook and how it is just beautifully written and you know that these two people are meant to be together. I honestly hope that this makes it to the big screen because I would watch it the day it came out. I would wait in a long line for it. I would happily be a groupie for these two. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The thing is, is that Scott shows so much more here than just romance. She shows a little bit of everything. That’s priceless. I just really hope that there is more where this came from because I really would like an update on them. Also on her sister and Billy, I want to know what is going on with their lives. It would be interesting if she kept this going. I want to know if their stories with make me feel the same way Jason’s and Delilah’s did. Where you go through every emotion possible. Where you remember your own first love. It’s a fascinating journey. Are you ready to find Solace in their Solace?
This was the 4th book in the Kingwood series. Jason was a mystery who seemed like the bad boy that was in love with Sara Jane. That isn’t the case he has always been in love with Delilah. Sara Jane was just a girl that reminded him of Delilah and this is their story.
After walking away from King, Jason needed to go home and find himself again he didn’t know what to do or who to be. He did a lot of terrible things working for King and he wanted to find his solace again.
Home was the only place to go except she was there and married to his x best friend will a quick visit turn into more when he realizes she is divorced or can he not escape his demons.
Delilah has more baggage than she wants him to know. She is scared for her life and wants to be left alone. She pays for her mistake of letting Jason go daily.
Can they both escape their past and move on?
I loved how this book ended the King series great series!
*4,5 stars*
S.L. Scott is definitely a one-click author for me and every time she has something coming out, I will always read it. I really liked Jason in the Kingwood duet series and loved him more in this one. It’s definitely a story that will get into your heart and make you feel; hoping that Jason and especially Delilah get a true happy ending.
Jason left his hometown with a broken heart and never really got over Delilah. Now he’s back in town but only for a short period of time but when he hears Delilah is now a single woman, he may be staying much longer than he intended to do. But not everything is as it seems and when secrets of his past and Delilah’s past come crashing into each other, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her.
In the end maybe true love does exist…
Swoon, yep, swoon. That’s what I did when I read Solace. Because Jason Koster is a swoony guy, the swooniest guy. I fell in love with him in the Savage and Savior, and here in Solace I fell even harder. Jason has come home. He’s tired of the life he’s lead. Tired of the violence and the things he had to do to protect the people he cared about, the people he was paid to protect. And now that he’s back home, he knows he’s going to see the woman who broke his heart, who left him for his ex-best friend for reasons he still doesn’t know.
Delilah hasn’t had an easy time of it since Jason left and broke her heart. She married his former best friend and he ended up being a big fat dud. A bad person who took away all that was good about her life. She still remembers Jason as the love of her life even though he broke her heart when he left town and cheated on her. But he’s back and he’s insistent on having dinner with her. What’s a broken woman to do when faced with the man she’s always loved? In Delilah’s case, she gives in and she’s lucky she did, because Jason is still the same sweet guy she fell in love with. And she learns that what she thought, what she was manipulated into thinking, isn’t true, and she’s devastated that she lost all these years with Jason because of lies she believed thanks to her insecurities.
Solace is easy to love. For a second chance romance, it’s surprisingly low on angst, and I love that. Angst has its place, but sometimes it’s nice to read something that isn’t full of angst and drama. If you didn’t fall in love with Jason in the Kingwood Duet because he was too mysterious or because he stood in the way of King and Sara Jane’s happiness, well, you’ll certainly fall in love with him here. He’s shed his mysterious air, his violent tendencies and has come home where he can be himself, where he can find peace in his mom and his love – Delilah, his honeysuckle, “the only girl I ever loved in my arms, my restless heart finds rest. Comfort. Solace . . .”
If second chance love is your thing, or if you fell for Jason in the Kingwood Duet and wanted to know his story, put Solace on your TBR list. You’ll get it all – sweet, sexy, and second chances.
SOLACE by S.L. Scott is a wonderful Second-Chance Romance that takes place in a small town. Although it can be quite readily read as a standalone novel, we have met the character Jason in her Kingwood Duet Series. In that series I don’t even think I liked the character Jason/Eric. But in Solace I loved the character Jason. In the Duet I really liked the couple Alexander and Sarah Jane. In Solace I love the couple Jason and Delilah.
Jason Koster has returned tired and weary to his hometown. He visits his mother’s house with a lonely, broken heart. He is troubled and haunted by the things he has done and witnessed since he left there many years ago. He had been the hometown hero, the quarterback and homecoming king. What he had left was his heart and soul with his high school sweetheart Delilah Noelle. When he had heard that the former beauty queen had married his “former” best-friend Cole, he thought that was the end of their story. When his mother tells him that they are newly divorced, he can’t help but have hope. Could all the misunderstandings, hurt, and two broken-hearts ever mend to have a second chance?
With sins and secrets trailing after Jason and Delilah with a jealous, vindictive, and dangerous ex-husband, can these two soul-mates find a way back with all the obstacles in their way? Jason just knows, with the only girl he had ever loved in his arms, his restless heart finds rest, comfort, and Solace.
A must read! First check out The Kingwood Duet to be introduced to Jason. Since I had already met Jason in Savage and Savior (The Kingwood Duet), it was a pleasure to see where he came from and what his story was. Jason really wasn’t a bad guy, just a guy who was lost after the love of his life broke up with him. Jason never stopped loving Delilah and the feelings were mutual but he didn’t know it till he came home. Delilah was the one that got away and since coming home Jason finds out that she’s single with the hope of reconnecting if not forever but for closure of 4 years ago. Delilah still holds a candle for Jason but she can’t act on it because of her ex, but once she gives into Jason’s will she feels safe in his arms, but is Jason gonna stay or leave? They’ve reconnected on many levels but will the past still pull them apart again?
S.L. I loved this book as much as the Kingwood Duet. I got shivers in spots and tears in others. You have a way with words when writing and that makes you awesome in my book. You have given your characters life with passion and that makes the reader feel as they are reading. Written with both P.O.V. of the main characters you’ll never need to know what the other is thinking.
S.L. Scott is an author to definitely read! This story was a bit softer than the Kingwood Duet (another must check out) but either way you’ll be hooked.
**Reviewed for Sweet and Spicy Reads, ARC provided in return for an honest review**
Scott delivers again –
Solace is an emotional and engaging second chance romance that will drag you in and hold you captivated in a manifestation of betrayal, love, frenemies, suspense, and forgiveness
Solace left me a little bit hesitant to let those last page close on Jason and Delilah’s story- I didn’t want it to end
You know the type of epic love story that stays with you long past the final scene- this is one of those!
This is a spin-off from the Kingswood duet – You don’t need to read it to understand Solace – but honestly – It is a great excuse to own them all!
I really enjoyed reading Jason’s story. We got to see both sides of his personality in The Kingwood Duet. He had his nice and sweet side but we also saw the hired gun side of him as well. Getting the story about his past that you knew troubled him was a story I really enjoyed reading. This book didn’t have much in the way of angst but it was an emotional story that had me hooked. These two have a bunch of stuff they need to work through. The reason why the break up happened, overcoming the past, their time a way has added more to it all and they must overcome it all in order to finally have a chance at forever. They were the football quarterback and cheerleader whose love was too good to be true, will they be able to finally find that happy ending that they missed out on years ago?
