Sociopath is a two part series.
more
I’ve been meaning to get around to this duet for a while so this one was definitely long overdue and I was excited to get started with this.
I adore this authors serial killer books so knew I was in for a treat.
This is the story of twins Damien and Dominic, we met their parents back in His Broken princess so reading this and knowing there eventual fate and what life had in store for them and their parents really made my heart hurt intensely.
This was just so bloody tragic and bittersweet and as much as I was enthralled I was also heartbroken for them all it was just so sad.
This was told in a now and then fashion that this author always does so well.
We are given a series of flashbacks for both Sapphire and Sociopath that showcases just what demons are haunting both their pasts.
It was intense and obsessive and such an explosive read I just couldn’t put it down.
I also wasn’t expecting things to go down quite the way they did and it took me completely by surprise what a finale that was.
I really can’t wait to devour book 2 and finally get some much-needed closure.
Definitely recommend this dark read this author always brings the goods every time.

This is a tricky review to write.
I loved the storyline but not the writing.
It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either and I could tell exactly what was gonna happen and the ‘twist’ very early on in the story.
There were points where I was left confused as to who was saying/feeling what and others where there was just a little too much information on the things that bored me so I found myself flicking through the pages until I got to the dialogue again.
It had the potential to be an amazing book as it had lots of my favourite darkness in it.
Serial Killer.
Mental Illness.
Possessive alpha male.
Tortured past.
Dark and passionate sex.
DAMIAN
I liked this dude. Maybe ‘liked’ is the wrong word. I found him…interesting.
He’s a dark and powerful man with a twisted and brutal childhood.
He and his twin brother went through…some shit when they were just 10 years old. It was horrific.
Well, it was in my head anyway. The author didn’t go into too much detail here (although there are definitely major **TRIGGERS**) – and I’m sure I’m about to upset some people when I say this next part: I needed more dark details. I need the tears and cries of pain.
Yes, it’s fucked up but, when I read dark, I need to be fully immersed in their world.
I need all the details. I need to feel their pain.
Anyway as an adult he despises women and all things sex-related. Until he lays his eyes on Sapphire.
Women were interchangeable, and I only used them when I needed a cover. I never wanted to touch them, never wanted them to touch me. Fucking hated any physical contact with them longer than what was necessary. I never allowed them to touch my dick, or any other part of my body. I had to learn how to please them, so they wouldn’t try any stupid moves. Sex was a chore, a necessary weapon to use when information or access was needed.
So he’s on a mission to destroy everyone who harmed him and his bro when they were wee but when he meets Saphire things take a detour and he becomes obsessed with her.
And like a cat with a mouse, he’s gonna play with her a little before diving in, lol.
SAPPHIRE
I wasn’t too fussed with this lass. She seemed ‘nice’. Normal, in a wealthy princess kind of way. Mum and dad gave her everything and in return, she had to play happy families in public. While she’s at one of their functions (a masquerade ball) she meets a man that she has an instant connection to and they get their freak on in her dad’s office.
But she has no idea who he is because he was wearing a mask.
Anyway, he kinda leaves her panting for more when they part ways and she’s hopeful that they’re gonna hook up again soon but, all Hell breaks loose and she suddenly finds herself with no money, no home, no family and no hot dude.
In fact, the dude is nowhere to be found for the next year!
DARKEST SCENE
Just so you are aware, there is child sexual assault in this book so **TRIGGER WARNING** for the following excerpt.
“Can I ask for a favour?” I asked, and he motioned with his head for me to continue. “I need some new blankets and medication, and John doesn’t want to give them.” “And you think I would?” Swallowing the bile in my throat, I replied, “Yes.” He exhaled again and removed the bed covers, leaving him naked with his old body in view. My stomach flipped, and with all my strength, I halted the gagging. I knew what was coming, but for him to help me, I couldn’t show any emotion on my face. Of course, he was fucking hard again. After all, he took blue pills. “Everything has a price in this world, boy. Suck me like you used to, and you can have what you asked for.” He hadn’t wanted it for a long time, probably too afraid of me doing something to his dick. But since I had asked for help, he held all the cards. I hated him. But for my brother, I would do anything. I went down on my knees and proceeded to pleasure the fucking pervert, who got off quickly. Thank fuck for that. Around the time we turned eleven, I learned to block everything during sex. Horrible things were done to me, but I had retreated so far into myself that it almost felt like I wasn’t present during the act. All I did was count in my head, one-by-one, and then I always knew when someone was close to finishing. That was the only thing my mind concentrated on. Giving fucking head to S was not an exception.
SEX SCENES
Still pretty hot though, lol.
A gasp left my lips as he ripped my panties with one swift move and growled as my heat opened up to his eyes. “I want to taste you, devour you, and feel every part of your body,” he whispered heatedly. He delved his tongue inside me, mimicking fucking motions while his hands raised my legs over his shoulders, his hands running over my smooth thighs. He shifted his tongue higher then sucked on my clit. My body twitched as electrifying pleasure consumed me, making me feel every nerve in my body. “Like it, babe? Feel good?” I moaned again as he pushed his finger inside while his mouth sucked my lower lips, one-by-one. The room was filled with my soft gasps and his sucking sounds. Heaven. “Delicious, you’re fucking delicious. I could spend days here.” My body tensed as I slowly reached for my high. I heard the sloppy sounds of him jerking off, and then everything within me shattered as his fingers pushed inside and he sucked hard on my clit. A loud scream left my mouth as my body sagged back on the bed.
FINAL THOUGHTS on SOCIOPATH’S OBSESSION by VF Mason
Like I said, I loved the storyline but the writing failed to pull me all the way in.
3 Stars
I started with 1 free book & next thing I knew, I read ever book!
First part of the Sociopath’s Duet and we meet Sociopath aka Damian and his Obsession Sapphire. For a V.F. Mason book this was on the lighter side of dark.
I really enjoyed Sapphire. I loved how she adapted to her new life and it confused with her feelings for Damian and Dominic.
I did see the twist coming, but it didn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy this book. I did notice that this was one of her earlier books. Her writing style has become better. it is more flowing in her later books.
Ack. I hate series where the books aren’t stand alone and they have huge cliffhangers. That is this book. It is a good story where the mysteries are revealed fairly quickly after they are introduced. It’s good but not great.
Another hit by V.F. Mason 5++Stars….
I am so glad I discovered V.F. Mason. This is a dark romance that captured me from the first page. It’s an emotional story that broke my heart at times, made me angry at times and made me fall in love with a man that was a monster. He falls in love (if he knows what love is) with a beautiful woman, she becomes his obsession and nothing will stop him from having her. You have to read this book and discover what is behind this monster man. Then continue on with Sociopath’s Revenge.
This is my second time down the rabbit hole that is Sociopath
I am a fan of VF Mason’s – her serial killer series is one of my favorites.
Sociopath’s Obsession is a slightly dark read (though my definition and yours could vary greatly) – It still is not for the faint of heart. It contains torture and violence. It has scenes of abuse. But overall it is so much more
The storyline draws the reader in from the opening scene in the garden (Romeo and Juliet eat your heart out) and sets us on a path of misdirection and complete anarchy. We believe we know who the villains are and who the heroes are – Psych!
Sapphire is a fighter. Going from elite status to near gutter residency has only IMO made her stronger. I enjoyed that the author let us watch as her blinders were slowly removed and she saw the world and its inhabitants for the truly vile creatures that they were. Oh, and the woman that is supposed to be her mom ..just WoW!
Damian is an arse. He uses his looks and power to manipulate and then just tosses his spoils to the side when he feels temporarily sated. When Sapphire becomes the jewel he wishes to possess things get a bit jaded for him.
Dominic is the perfect book boyfriend. Sweet, loving, considerate and slightly geeky. He is also Damian’s twin. They are two very different souls but the bond they share is something that can never be broken.
Sociopath IMO is so misunderstood (yeah I am laughing). He is careful about how he chooses his victims. He is careful about how he ends their existence. They are guilty of the most heinous crimes so their pleas for mercy fall upon deaf ears and their blood runs freely decorating the walls of his dungeon
We are taken down a rabbit hole of obsession, betrayal, revenge and ultimately forgiveness
This ends on a bit of a cliff hanger, maybe.
This book was really good. It had many twists and turns that surprised me. I definitely recommend it.
This book is not to be taken lightly, it is a dark read and it’s not for the faint hearted. Read at your own risk. You have been warned.
This is about sex trafficking children which no one likes to hear about, Sociopath is going to avenge those who did him wrong.
If you like reading twisted, dark, damage and revenge this story for you.
I couldn’t connect to the characters or this story and I have read depraved story before so not sure why this didn’t do it for me.
This review is for both books. Sociopath’s Obsession & Sociopath’s Revenge.
I’m fully invested in V.F. Mason words. This was my second time reading this duet and I can say that I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time. There’s just something so addictive about D and his obsessive ways that I couldn’t help but fall in love with.
The plot is a little bit irrational, but we are talking about fiction here, right? So I think it was ok. In the end, what really matters is whether you enjoyed the story or not. And let me tell you, this one was oh-so-enjoyable.
My favorite book of this duet was definitely Sociopath’s Revenge. I think it was because of Kristina, I really liked her character and this is the book where they finally got their well deserved HEA, so that’s that.
If you’re looking for a dark-ish reading with an obsessive hero, give this duet a chance.
I can only hope the second book is as good as this one. I love this book.
It keeps you on the edge of you seat.
