Love Miranda and the vision she has for her future company. She has truly fought the battle I life and won, finding a job she is passionate about and a small nucleus of friends to keep her sane. She doesn’t do relationships, one and done is her motto. But when sexy New Yorker Jack ends up at the bar where she works, well, she finds herself forgetting her rules. Jack can’t believe the mess the family business is in. A trusted friend has taken advantage while his dad is ill and now, they might lose everything. As he works with his sister Jen to come out of the mess, he finds himself at an old haunt which connects him to Miranda. He is blown away by this sexy, confident woman and knows that one night won’t be enough. Now, relationships are never easy and this journey has some huge pitfalls along the way. I enjoyed the road these two traveled and kept hoping that they can find love in the end. Of course, their incredibly hot, sexual chemistry steamed up my kindle too! I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
I just love this author’s work and am hooked every single time I pick up one of her books. This time was no different.
Miranda and Jack were as different as night and day, yet they shared a similar passion. Not just between the sheets but in their professional lives. The chemistry was instantaneous between these two, but before long, their connection was put to the test, and secrets needed to be revealed to resolve the issues.
I love a strong heroine. Mr New York meets Miss strictly no seconds and it’s a connection that can’t be denied. I adored Jack and all his feelings and wants. Jack is home to help his family and their business as his dad is struggle with life. Miranda is all steely reserve with a heart of gold working on a project to benefit The Veterans. Their journey to a HEA was somewhat bumpy but so worth it. The Wright family is definitely interesting and I cannot wait to read the next book.
First in a new series and this does not disappoint. We start off with Jack and Miranda. The chemistry is off the charts from the start but they each have different baggage that can hold them back from a more serious relationship. How the story unfolds is captivating and I loved it. Skye has a way of pulling the reader in and not letting go until you are done with the book and left wanting more. I’m very excited for this series and so glad this author is back.
I loved this story. Jack and Miranda were so good together, not to mention the chemistry between them. They met at a time when neither were looking and didn’t really want to start something, yet couldn’t deny the pull. As both struggle to trust, Miranda has walls that are difficult to breech and she is not sure that she is ready to open herself up to anyone. This story has all the feels. Loved the cross over character from Manhunters and look forward to seeing more of this amazing couple. Great read!!!
Strong likeable characters, interesting and believeable storyline, and steamy scenes if you like the heat. I liked how the author went against the norm and had the female character, Miranda, a welder by trade, as the one night stand initiator. This was a quick, easy and enjoyable read.
I received a free copy from Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
So Wright was my first book by this author and I was excited to dive in. I feel like it was a little slow to start, but after a little while I found myself a little more invested in the story. I enjoyed some parts of the story including the unusual female lead’s job and some of the other aspects of the book that made this story unique, including her building interests. I also liked Jack’s desire to help his family and his continued pursuit (in a sweet, non-creepy way) of Miranda despite her attempts to make their relationship just a one-time thing. I liked that he could see past the walls she tried to put up due to vulnerabilities and that he felt like she was important enough to keep trying for. Having said all that, I do feel like the story was just kind of okay for me. I feel like it was either missing something, or maybe had too much going on, which impacted the effectiveness of the story. I would definitely like to check out more of the author’s work to see if I enjoyed another story a bit more.
So Wright by Skye Jordan
The Wrights #1
Rainy days in winter are always better with a relaxing book to read. This book proved just what I needed to read today. It had sizzle, spice, strong lead characters, romance, family, and so much more. I do believe this series will be one that is worth pursuing.
What I liked:
* Miranda: strong sense of self, professional welder, works hard on the job, assists in a friend’s bar, gives back in a volunteer capacity, has trust issues, and has walls up to protect herself…and yet…boy does she sizzle!
* Jack: strong, intelligent, loves his family, pulled in many directions due to work and issues with his father’s business, wants to settle down, and seeing Miranda he knows she is special BUT can he convince her…and does he have what it takes to make the relationship work?
* Marty: the father figure in Miranda’s life
* Miranda’s backstory and how it will form and impact the series – looking forward to reading her siblings books in the future
* That the main lead characters seem of equal strength in most every way – they seemed to be perfect for one another IF they managed to work through a few issues
* Gypsy: Miranda’s sister…seems there is more to her than we see in this book
* The family feeling that runs through the book…Jack’s family is close and also there is the potential for Miranda’s family to reconnect in the series
* The volunteer aspect that included building homes for the needy from cargo containers (had to look those up!)
* All of it really except…
What I didn’t like:
* Bruce and his son Alex – they were baddies that deserved to spend some time in jail.
* The tough childhood that Miranda lived through
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Yes

Miranda is a welder with a construction company, a part time bartender, and is building homes for homeless, veterans, and single parent low income families. She meets Jack on the bar and goes back to his hotel. Even though Miranda has a no seconds rule, she can’t help but feel a connection to Jack. Jack is an architect in New York and his family owns a construction company back in Nashville. When his father’s health declines and the partner embezzles money, he rushes back. Jack is combing the records and hiring private investigator to see if anyone else was helping. When evidence is discovered that Miranda might be involve, will he lose Miranda because he jumped to conclusions?
Excellent story with sex and a little intrigue. Miranda doesn’t get close to people because they always end up deserting her. Jack loves his family and will do anything for them.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
