FROM EXCITING ROMANCE AUTHOR AMELIA KINGSTONBook one in the So Far, So Good seriesA painfully awkward love story.Incomprehensibly awkward Elizabeth Wilde is desperate for love. Connection. Intimacy. I absolutely loved this book. At first I somewhat questioned whether or not I would like it, but it turned out to be soooo sweet. The romance is off the charts but love has a way of finding just the right people!

This was a beautifully written book about two people who thought they were too damaged to be deserving of love.
Elizabeth had a privileged childhood but had parents who were too cold and aloof to show her any love and, so, she grew up feeling that she was “weird” and unlovable. Austin grew up in the foster system determined to prove that no one would ever love him enough to want him to stay so he pushed people away before he got attached to them.
Elizabeth proposes an unusual business arrangement to Austin in hopes that he can help her get over her crippling shyness and social anxiety. And to expand her knowledge of all things related to sex.
The story pulls you in from the beginning and makes you feel immediately invested in the happiness of both Elizabeth and Austin.
This was my first book by this author and I guarantee it won’t be the last.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

2.5 stars.
This wasn’t bad and I liked the premise (nerdy girl propositions hot jock to help her learn more about sex and feeling confident in exchange for 5 grand. Hot jock is a a little broken and jaded, never gets too close to anyone and starts to fall for girl, who of course is developing feelings for him as well) I was just hoping to get more out of it.
I think the writing needs a little more polishing to make it memorable and make it more believable. The characters had several mood swings that kind of gave me whiplash and they actually said some hurtful things to each other that were quickly swept under the rug that I felt were red flags for how right these two were or weren’t for each other. Elizabeth’s character was hard for me to like…we’re told that she was weird, not particularly good in social settings, book smart, but I never got a lot of depth from her, I felt like we were only skimming the surface with getting to know her and that hurt my connection with the story overall. I never really understood why Elizabeth’s mom was the way she was and I don’t think it was ever mentioned how she died or the circumstances of her death. I think knowing this would have made her more relatable as a character for me and showed a side that was vulnerable emotion wise and not just shy. I liked Austin’s character overall but I think he fell waaaaay too fast, especially since he was the player, the guy who doesn’t date…he seemed to catch feelings quote a bit before her and was very eager to spend time with her from the get go which seemed really out of character.
Writing wise I would have liked to see smoother transitions between scenes to make the story flow better and seem less choppy (or maybe even shorter chapters would have helped with this.) I felt like there was too much extra stuff (with the movie quotes, etc…I liked it but it was too much) and not enough character and plot development to make an impact. It had potential but fell a little short for me.
I’m a sucker for a shy awkward character because I’m that person myself. I can relate to the character and I know how they’re feeling. I truly loved both Elizabeth and Austin. Two lost souls that come together. Though I will be honest I wanted to smack Austin a few times, but I understood why he was a little bit of a jerk sometimes. This book had me laughing quite often so the humor was a big plus for me. I loved watching Elizabeth find her confidence and self worth. The epilogue in this was everything. It was the perfect touch to end this book on. I was left with a satisfied smile on my face. This is a book you don’t want to pass up.
Glad I chose this as my first read of 2020! It was the PERFECT read…laugh out loud funny, damaged main characters you feel for, great supporting characters, and sizzling sexy times! Before I even finished reading So That Got Weird, I was on Amazon following Amelia Kingston and getting more of her work!

I’m a sucker for awkward characters and Elizabeth is definitely one of my favorite. Her story is heartbreaking and she’s so honest and endearing. Austin has his own heartbreaking past. The two of them together seemed to just fill in each other’s broken pieces.
Neither one of them was looking for love. One of them may even fight it. But you can’t fight love!
I loved this book so much! I fell in love with Austin and Elizabeth as a couple. This story felt so very real! I got the feels & had to break out some tissues!

What a great way to start the year!
I love everything about this book. The cover caught my attention first, but then I fell in love with the story.
I admit being a bit picky to give 5 stars rating but with this book, I had to. When I feel butterflies, sigh and my heart beats faster we have a winner! And Austin confession in the last part… oh my heart!!!
Elizabeth is so likable. I felt her pain, I know what it is to feel you don’t belong. You want to be her friend and support her. Austin is just perfect without being too much. I loved seeing different sides of him.
It’s the first time reading this author and I want more. So excited for the next books in the series. (
A great little story.
The first few pages are slow but it picks up the pace. I love the nerdy girl and jock stories and this one twists.
Elizabeth is socially awkward and feels like a tutor would help her better than the bad dates she goes on, so she approaches football star Austin after seeing he his high date/sexual partner rating from fellow college students. Elizabeth was really awkward, sometimes honestly and sometimes it felt contrived, but she was hilarious and herself, which I think is really important. Austin was so perfectly imperfect in his past and in how he treated Elizabeth. The progress felt real and the romance was off the charts. I liked how they had bad things happen to them and their lives weren’t unattainable and they worked through them in a real, human way. Overall I really liked this book and will look for more books by this author!
First I want to say that there are some swears and adult situations, which should be pretty clear from the blurb, overall it’s a good, well written book. I like that it is realistic, the problems are actually ones that could happen and are easily overcome, much more realistic than most of these situations in this genre. It kept my attention the whole way through.

I really enjoyed this book, it gave me all kinds of feels. I laughed, teared up, felt the love. Told my husband to hush, I was almost done with the book. I really enjoyed and felt like I got to know both Elizabeth and Austin. 5 stars from me….
This is one of those books that is actually painful to read because you are laughing so hard. It left me crying with laughter in so many places and my family looking at me like I had finally lost it.
If you need a laugh this is the book for you. If you just want a fantastically written book then again this is for you. If you are just looking to fall in love with some quirky characters then this is for you and if none of these options appeal to you read it anyways because it’s fantastic

Gamer meets hot jock
#spoiler
I absolutely LOVED this story! It was such a great mismatch (on paper) of lead characters, but they were also so perfect for each other!
Elizabeth is a 21 year-old student, and an avid gamer, who is socially awkward (to say the least), but is also desperate for love, connection and intimacy. And well, because of her awkwardness, she makes the decision that she really needs help… like a sex tutor!
Enter Austin… a hot jock, and a campus sex god. He’s had his heart broken, and doesn’t trust easily (that’s a sad and interesting tale within itself), and certainly doesn’t believe in love.
Elizabeth pretty much calculates the who, what, when, where, why and how of this tutoring she’s after. She even took ratings off scoreyourscore.com into consideration. OMG… is that really a thing?!?!?!
And, Austin seems to be the perfect candidate, according to her “devirginiser spreashseet” . Did I mention this ‘job’ will pay $5000 over four weeks. That’s good coin to a struggling college student! He certainly doesn’t readily accept the offer, but circumstances change, and well, the rest becomes history.
They both have family dramas and the likability and relatability rating of these characters increases, as you read about their back stories, and how they’ve been impacted by them. It was both sad, and uplifting, as they eventually overcome their negative experiences, with the love and acceptance they find together.
There are also MANY funny bits to this story, and with Elizabeth’s geekiness and her best friend Jackie’s boldness and sassiness, I laughed ALOT throughout. One of my favourites is when Jackie talks to Elizabeth about her being too fussy about boys, and losing her virginity…“Goldilocks vagina – they’re boys, not bowls of porridge. Just pick one and dig in already.”
This story is fun, sweet, hot, entertaining, and an all-round great read. I would definitely recommend it! And I can’t wait to read more of Amelia’s work!

Austin and Elizabeth had such a cute story. This book shows how people from two different classes or life and money can have the same issues and how we shouldn’t judge someone because of where they came from. I loved how Austin took care of Elizabeth and helped her work through her problems. They were such a great couple and they both have to overcome their fears to work out in the end. Overall, the only thing I could have wanted more of was a true friendship between Jessie and Elizabeth, I feel like that one would have worked out wonderfully. But really good book and awesome twist in the epilogue!
This was such a cute story! I loved it! The Lady, Elizabeth hires the Big man on campus Austin to take her Virginity and it just develops from there. It wa everything. Funny, sweet and Steamy with an HEA ! Nuff said.

Weird has a new feeling for me now after reading this story. I love how this story shows that it doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, anyone can be broken and can find love. Love Love Love this story!
Elizabeth is a gamer, nerdy woman and she wants to find love but doesn’t know how to go about it. She decides she needs a sex tutor to help her in her quest. Austin is the hot jock that all the girls want to be with, he doesn’t do relationships. These two are so different but each has their own hurts and painful insecurities. A really great read and awesome story that I recommend.
At first I was thinking oh man! I don’t know if I can handle this extremely painful awkwardness, but I’m glad I persisted because I ended up loving the rest of the story. Elizabeth and Austin have a sexy, sweet connection. They have some good passion between them and complement each other well. There’s some fun humor, and I enjoyed the gamer aspect. Elizabeth is socially awkward; she is very quirky and is sort of a nerd, so she’s having a tough time dating. She’s 21 and ready to be rid of her virginity, so she has this plan to hire a sex tutor. Not my favorite type of scenario, but it was entertaining. She chooses football player, Austin, since she’s done some research and he fits the bill for her needs. Austin comes off as a lighthearted fun loving guy, but there’s more to him. These two have some fun, fiery banter. Entertaining through the whole story. This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but won’t be the last! Looking forward to reading more! Really enjoyed the heart and humor of this story!
