I loved loved loved this book! The premise gave me pause… shy, nerdy heroine pays a college jock with an abundance of sexual prowess to teach her – well- how to have sex …I’m thinking ‘Is this going to feel to forced? Am I going to open this book and the heroine magically morphs into some sex-goddess? Is this insta-love on steroids?’ But Amelia Kingston is absolutely freaking brilliant and wove an absolute page-turner that kept me laughing (and practically sweating my makeup off) through every chapter… Elizabeth was a believable, flawed, awkward, hilarious character and I totally fell in love with her.
Don’t even get me started on Austin. *SWOON* that boy can tutor me ANY time. I loved his backstory and his arc into the guy we started falling in love with. I loved his confidence and his relaxed charm. He was tug-at-your-heart, melt-your-panties lovable.
Pick. Up. This. Book. Just do it. Treat yourself, because you deserve ALL of the deliciousness in this story.

4 1/2 Entertaining Stars!!
What fun refreshing storyline . Kind of a YA read, yet still full of adult feels and romantic.
Elizabeth was socially inept, shy, and quirky. Born into wealth but emotionally starved and abused by her not so well meaning parents. Her comfort zone was her nerdy computer world but she longed for real connection.
I liked the way Austin was socially adept but equally starved and emotionally stunted. These two made an awkward but totally sweet and sexy couple as they slowly grew with each other.
A bit of painful relational suicide drama came into play as Austin reverted back to his self protecting behavior, but thank goodness Elizabeth’s love and heart was so much bigger than his insecurities!
Easy to read, fast paced, with good character development.

Elizabeth and Austin’s story were the highlight of my day. She is awkward but such a great partner for Austin who gets asked to help her help to lose the one thing she just can’t seem to get rid of.
Austin is a great teacher since he’s been listed on a website about how great he is on and off the field. The moments between them build and he learns all about the computer girl and she sees him as more than a jock.
I loved the way their story took avenues I didn’t foresee. The fact that we get to hang around these characters through ups and downs, happy and sad times and where the path took them, I was happy to let them go at the end because as weird as love is and as awkward as she appeared, that ending made it all completely worth it.
My first book from Amelia and from cover to cover I was captivated. I felt, understood and could relate to our lead lady and so glad that she went to that library and asked Austin because they needed each other. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
Elizabeth is not your typical college girl she is somewhat shy is socially awkward. She’s tired of letting her fears an inexperience hold her back so she decides to pick a guy from her college to become her tutor. After doing some research she finds that the best choice is Austin a college football star. When she approached him with her offer of money for his help he agreed. Sparks flew between them as they started her education in flirting, sex and so much more. They grew their own little banter between themselves that made her relax more with Austin. What was going to happen when they both realized there’s more between them than just the help Austin started giving her? Could they be more to each other?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I really enjoyed the attention to detail in Elizabeth and Austin’s story. The way they looked at each other to the way each touch came about. The anticipation was intense. I expected this to be a quirky, easy story but it surprised me with so much emotion and depth. This author brought a story to life and made me forget how imperfect these two were. Grab this story now and fall into the world of learning about love.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Great character development, interesting plot, good dialogue. Highly recommended.

I loved the characters and the story. They were very likable. I liked the back and forth and learning more about them along the way.
(3.5 rounded up)
New Adult can be hit or miss for me. As awkward as Kingston made this story, it had a wonderful mix of sweet, angst, and steam that made reading Austin and Elizabeth’s story a pleasure.
I didn’t care for Elizabeth but that is definitely just a reader preference. I spent a lot of her POVs alternating between cringing and rolling my eyes, but to be fair I do that with a lot of YA and NA. I did enjoy the depth of her background beyond her sexual ineptitude and her growth as a character had a satisfying arc. Austin was a fairly typical alpha sex god character, though that didn’t reduce enjoyability in the least.
What I did love was the epilogue. I absolutely adored it!
So, That Got Weird was a fun, lighthearted read steeped in awkward, new adult love. Pick it up and expect to laugh and suffer from some heart-pangs as this sweet, weird couple bumble their way through their story. Now we just have to wait for the next book in the series!

There is nothing weird about how much I loved this book.
This story was so wonderful from start to finish, I am not sure where to start with my review. I was able to instantly relate to Elizabeth’s awkwardness. She doesn’t know what to say when, gets nervous and puts her metaphorical foot in her mouth. Her impulsive responses had me laughing out loud. Despite that, she was not a meek character, she was fiery and fierce and the reader had the opportunity to see her self confidence and self esteem grow throughout the book. Austin is the kid of damaged hero that makes me melt, and watching him fall even when he didn’t want to was delicious. This is my first book by Amelia Kingston, but i found her style easy to read, engaging and witty. I had difficulty putting this book down and highly recommend it! I think readers who enjoyed Cambria Hebert’s #Nerd series and The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang, will enjoy this book. I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give my review.
Spoilers: Elizabeth is socially awkward and still a virgin in college. She hires Austin to teach her about sex and take her virginity. I assumed this would be a silly story, but it was much deeper than I expected. It was a well written and enjoyable story with just enough drama to keep me interested.

When Elizabeth a tech nerd and gamer asked Austin, a playboy jock, to educate her in being social, flirt, kiss etc. The jock was amused and curious. But challenge accepted for a fee. They are so funny! They are so opposite it works. Emotions bring them closer and her confidence blooms. Such a sweet, funny story. My first for this author.

I loved the story about Elizabeth and Austin. Elizabeth is an excellent student but has no idea how to have a relationship. She decides that she needs some help and decides to approach Jacob to hire him to essentially show her how to successfully flirt, communicate with a guy and have a sexual relationship. Jacob needed the money and eventually agreed to be he tutor. Their relationship develops from there and you need to read the story to find out what develops.
I enjoyed the well written story from beginning to end and plan to read more from this author.

A really cute read with two very likable characters.
Well edited. Small miss with breaks vs. brakes.
Elizabeth feels socially awkward, especially when it comes to men. She’s smart and nerdy and has been beaten down by inattentive parents. Following her best friend’s’ advice, she seeks out a tutor and lands on Austin. He reluctantly agrees to help her – with the clear stipulation that it is all ‘business’. No feelings involved here. Austin has had his own heart battered by life. Neither believes they are really worth loving. Can they heal each other?
Really fun read. Both characters need healing. Austin especially gets a wake up that people in all walks of life can be hurt by the people who are supposed to love them. Money and a pretty house does not equate to loving people. Enjoy!

It may have gotten weird for Elizabeth and Austin but it makes for a great story. This was captivating, funny, sexy, and downright entertaining. I couldn’t put it down. The characters and the story just suck you in and I had a hard time coming out of this world.

Elizabeth and Austin were polar opposite but oh so perfect together. I laughed and rooted for them the whole book. This was a new to me author and I was pleasantly surprised by the caliber of her writing. Looking forward to reading more from her

What a fun read! I liked the premise but was really surprised by the character’s depth. Well written, funny, deep, a bit angsty at times but definitely worth the read. I hope to read more from this author.

I grabbed this book because of the author. I have to admit I wasn’t quite sure what to expect and that had me a bit concerned. However, when the first page has you laughing multiple times, you know it’s a good omen. Now, obviously this book is in no way clean. But, given the storyline… This book had great characters and a unique storyline. There were lessons to be learned and lots of feels to be felt.

This book was great! I loved how the author was able to keep the book fun and playful but also incorporate deep issues and internal struggles that deeply affected the characters. Elizabeth was a very interesting character as her thought process was very entertaining but also demonstrated an internal struggle that a lot of people go through each day. I resonated with her personality a lot which is great for a reader. I loved Austin! He was a bad boy but had such a kind, playful and respectful personality that made me full in love with him. This book made me laugh so much!! Couldn’t recommend it enough!
