After hearing about this book and reading the synopsis I knew it was one I needed to get my hands on ASAP.
Holy Cow!!!!! If I could give more than 5 stars then this book would definitely earn them. From the very moment I started reading it drew me in and didn’t let me go. Pretty much everything you could want in a story is here. There is drama and suspense on top of the AMAZING off the charts chemistry between the characters. I was feeling ALL of my feels throughout this story.
The things that both Elizabeth and Austin had gone through were heartbreaking. Even though each one came from such different worlds they still found that they had so much in common. Both felt as though they weren’t good enough, or deserving of love and because of that they were both broken in a way that made it hard for them to trust others. What I loved most however, is that neither one let what happened in their past turn them into uncaring people. They both still had such good hearts and worked towards their goals of being the best that they could be.
This book was filled with so many laugh out loud moments as well as some more serious ones. The writing was fabulous and the story line was one that really had me on the edge of my seat wondering how things were going to work out. They way the author took time to really let us get to know Austin and Elizabeth made me feel so connected to these characters which in turn had me feeling so invested in their story. This was one that had me dying to get to the end at the same time I didn’t want to see it end because I couldn’t get enough of these characters.
I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next in this series. ONE CLICK THIS ASAP!

So That Got Weird is book 1 in the So Far, So Good series by Amelia Kingston. This is a totally funny, sweet, sexy book that focuses on introverted nerd, Elizabeth Wilde who is desperate for some sex-pert advice and guidance when it comes to the opposite sex. A twenty one year old gamer who puts a capital A in awkward, Elizabeth sets out to find out how to come out of her shell, gain more confidence and become the sex kitten we know that she initially is…even if she is a little bit odd and she finds that in hot jock, Austin Jacobs. Austin Jacobs is the quintessential jock. He’s smoking hot, needs the cash desperately and is a little bit broken but above all, he’s swoon-worthy and a definite match for Elizabeth.
Even though both characters come from completely different backgrounds, there certainly is a connection between the two from the start. Elizabeth is quirky, fierce and sassy in comparison to Austin’s jokester, confidently cool and insanely sweet. They seem to click straight away but not everything is plain sailing between he two. Factor in different backgrounds, life experiences, how they handle life in general and the jagged edges that both characters seem to have, at times it is like they are both crawling through a mine-field that is sometimes fraught with mis-communication and hurt feelings, but boy does the story work!
I loved the dialogue between these two characters as well as the relationship that Elizabeth has with her gaming friend (super snarky!). There are some difficult moments in the book from both sides, highlighting abandonment by parents, losing parents, expectations to name but a few and a really great twist in the middle of the story that you don’t see coming. I particularly liked the epilogue at the end of the book where we see more of Elizabeth and Austin in later years.
If you like sweet, steamy, romantic books with some angst thrown in then Amelia Kingston is an author for you!
ARC received for a fair and honest review.

OMG does this story hold up to it’s tag of “painfully awkward” in the beginning. It was getting to the point where I almost gave up on it but I powered through & found a fantastic story. Elizabeth is looking to get out of her shell & lose her V card. She practically lives online through her gaming so who better to turn to than the Internet for help. There, she finds “sex God of her university” & corner back footballer Austin Jacobs & works up the courage to offer him a “business proposition.” What’s supposed to be four weeks of sex tutorials turns into a steady comfortableness & unexpected relationship between the awkward gamer & the confident footballer. They both have a broken past but can they have a bright future, together? It’s amazing seeing how the two start getting used to each other yet they aren’t changing themselves. Elizabeth is still awkward & sometimes doesn’t have a filter but at the same time there’s a fierceness to her just waiting to be unleashed. Austin is the man that’s lost everything, expects nothing & doesn’t believe in love yet he comes to protect Liz, starts lusting after her within their first session together yet doesn’t push her when she’s not ready. Loved the nicknames they gave each other & even cried when they finally announce their feelings to each other. That last chapter & epilogue were everything!
Sweet, adorable….AWKWARD, and feels dead ahead! So That Got Weird by Amelia Kingston nad me at the blurb and I’m happy to say the book lived up to it and then some.
Elizabeth and Austin are freaking cute. Their chemistry was on point and what starts out as flirtatious banter, funny “lesson plans,” and an genuine friendship morphs into so much more. Austin is the such a great hero and there’s so much more than the player reputation that precedes him. He’s a little self destructive with his emotions, but at his core he’s a good person and worthy of his heroine. Elizabeth was by far my favorite character. She’s awkward and insecure, sure, but she’s also strong, sassy, and all kinds of adorable. Their way HEA isn’t easy, but man was it worth it. 4 stars.
***Actual Rating: 4/5 All-about-that-Weirdness Stars***
Ah, So, That Got Weird is such a light-hearted read! As a helpless romance-novel-lover, Amelia Kingston really knows how to grip a reader’s heart. I love the way the protagonists, Elizabeth Wilde and Austin Jacobs, meet for the first time, and the way Elizabeth’s the first to offer Austin such a genius business proposal: to be her personal sex tutor. Yep, you heard it right. She asks him to teach her all that jazz about sex, flirtation, and pretty much successful-dates-101.
Not knowing why but I’m totally sold when hearing upon the synopsis of this book and I’m happy to tell you that this book doesn’t let me down. It has all the delicious details regarding that specific area of human nature…biologically, the inevitable (yet extremely realistic) awkwardness of building a romantic relationship with a stranger (almost) under pressure/with benefits, and then some. I’m surprised by how easily the author’s writing style lures me into loving the characters so much so that I practically finish the entire book within a couple of hours.
What’s more, I also love seeing that as perfect as Austin Jacobs seems to the outsiders, he actually grows up in a messed up family whose mother is a drug addict and he has to work extra hard to sustain basic living conditions. Seriously, now that I come to think of it, the said business proposal sounds like a wonderful solution to both Austin and Elizabeth since they pretty much benefit from each other through the sex-abus, a.k.a. sex syllabus!
Although I thoroughly enjoy 90% of the book, the only thing I’d love to see more of is the character development as well as some secondary storylines. Don’t get me wrong, this book is still amazing, and I truly have a fantastic time reading Elizabeth and Austin’s sizzling romance, what I’m saying is that the whole story seems to focus too much on our main characters, and how they go along with the sex-abus that the rest of the story-wide surroundings is sort of neglected. For example, I barely know what Elizabeth and Austin’s school life is like except for Elizabeth’s gaming partner and Austin’s all-star football team & supermodel-cheerleaders-barbies.
Besides, I’d also appreciate more if there could be more depth than the reference of problematic/irresponsible parents. Needless to say, there’s the potential of shedding light on other social issues that could be included in this story, which may possibly bring out a more thought-provoking aspect of the essence of Elizabeth and Austin’s relationship/business proposal.
All in all, this book is still a delightful read and I’d surely recommend it to everyone. In spite of the minor lack of depth in the entire plot design, Elizabeth and Austin’s story is one you definitely can’t miss as they still manage to tackle some highly concerned issues in reality while putting emphasis on pursuing happiness on both ends. Again, I’m impressed with Amelia’s spectacular story-telling skill and I can’t wait to read all of her books from now on!
***Huge thanks to InkSlinger PR and the author for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.***
Elizabeth wants to learn how to navigate the way to a sexual relationship, and she’s willing to pay the one guy she wants. Austin cannot believe that this “mouse” has propositioned him for sex. He can get any girl he wants as a star football player at their college. When his job falls through, Austin contacts Elizabeth to accept her proposal that includes her “sexabus” syllabus for the next 4 weeks. Elizabeth wants to lose her virginity and learn how to talk and react to guys. Austin sees her as easy money that will only help his bottom line for graduation, but he’s also interested in her reasoning. He sees some sort of spark with her.
The “sexabus” lists which “base” will be allowed each week – ending with the loss of her virginity. Along the way, each of them feel a sense of longing for more, guilt about the situation, and a lingering notion of what might be. But misunderstandings and accusations drive them apart. Will they be able to overcome their family and upbringing differences, or is this all happening too late?
Kudos to Amelia Kingston for bringing us this gift.

Super cute story about a 21-year old virgin who is just simply awkward yet adorable. She’s very naiive and nerdy. She pays Austin, a scholarship holding gorgeous jock to “teach her” not to be so awkward in a month. I really liked Austin “a lot”! While the trope has been done before, I thought she pulled it off quite well. This was my first Kingston book and I enjoyed it, though one of my pet peeves is childish pouting and there was a bit of that in here, but otherwise, it was a nice break for me as I’d been reading some darker romances and this gave me the lighthearted feeling I needed.

This book was so fun and funny to read!! Elizabeth and Austin had different upbringings but similar emotional scars. Her mom and was a piece of work and I wish Austin could’ve given her the same thing he gave Claire. The nerve of some people!! One of my favorite parts of the books is from Austin when he said, “The world is going to beat you down enough, you don’t need to help it out.” No truer words have been spoken. Just be your genuine YOU!!! Great job Amelia Kingston!

I loved this story from the very first chapters. Elizabeth is shy and awkward and makes a radical decision to ask a popular athlete, Austin (who is more complex than it seems at first with a not-so-happy past), to tutor her in sex. Their relationship is hot and fun. They might seem very different at first but their respective past, their scars and flaws and their off the charts chemistry make them perfect for each other. Best book I have read in a while!
