Three estranged sisters struggle to sustain their late father’s failing hockey franchise in Kate Meader’s sizzling Chicago Rebels series. In this second entry, middle sister Isobel is at a crossroads in her personal and professional lives. But both are about to get a significant boost with the addition of a domineering Russian powerhouse to the Rebels… Isobel Chase knows hockey. She played … She played NCAA, won silver at the Games, and made it thirty-seven minutes into the new National Women’s Hockey League before an injury sidelined her dreams. Those who can’t, coach, and a position as a skating consultant to her late father’s hockey franchise, the Chicago Rebels, seems like a perfect fit. Until she’s assigned her first job: the man who skated into her heart as a teen and relieved her of her pesky virginity. These days, left-winger Vadim Petrov is known as the Czar of Pleasure, a magnet for puck bunnies and the tabloids alike. But back then… let’s just say his inability to sink the puck left Isobel frustratingly scoreless.
Vadim has a first name that means “ruler,” and it doesn’t stop at his birth certificate. He dominates on the ice, the practice rink, and in the backseat of a limo. But a knee injury has produced a bad year, and bad years in the NHL don’t go unrewarded. His penance? To be traded to a troubled team where his personal coach is Isobel Chase, the woman who drove him wild years ago when they were hormonal teens. But apparently the feeling was not entirely mutual.
That Vadim might have failed to give Isobel the pleasure that was her right is intolerable, and he plans to make it up to her–one bone-melting orgasm at a time. After all, no player can perfect his game without a helluva lot of practice…more
A cute, push and pull, adorable second chance romance between Vadim and Isobel. I delighted in their banter, swooned at their chemistry, and cheered them on the entire time. This was a deliciously sweet treat. I enjoyed this book immensely.
Three estranged sisters, Harper, Isobel, and Violet have inherited their father’s second to last place Hockey team, the Chicago Rebels. The will stipulated that to keep the team, they had to work together and get the team to the playoffs. This book tells Isobel and Vadim Petrov’s second chance romance. Isobel was her father’s favorite daughter. She inherited her father’s Hockey skills and was going to fulfill his dreams of another Hockey champion in the family. Isobel met Vadim when he was 19 and she was 18. After a summer of flirting, she decides to make him her first. Of course, her father walks in afterwards, chases Vadim out of the house. Her father gets him blackballed from the NHL. It is now eight years later and Vadim has been acquired by the Rebels and Isobel is going to be his skating coach. I really liked Vad and Isobel. They both had a lot of issues to get through, injuries, parental issues and that pesky issue that Isobel was Vad’s boss. This was a great second chance Sports Romance.

This second chance romance is worth the read. There was push and pull between Isobel and Vadim, they both have their baggage, but they work great together. I love their romance and happily ever after.

Review So (not) Over You!
In preparation for undertaking this book, I felt it was necessary to read book one, Irresistible You. (As I type this it’s on sale on Amazon for $.99) They can be read as standalone but it’s more fun knowing the background.
So Over You is the one that got away…and left you hanging. LOL. Vadim Petrov is the Russian Czar of Pleasure…or so the tabloids say. But to Isobel Chase he is the one who was run off. Or chased off, more appropriately.
Fast forward to present day and the tension between them is a powder keg. Anger, misplaced blame, and feelings are stewing. It’s about to get a lot hotter on the ice.
The thread that binds them together and brings them back had me giggling. Czar of Pleasure…wasn’t able to provide…..yeah, you would giggle too!
Book received in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed on behalf of Once Upon An Alpha
4.5 Second Time Around Is Out Of This World Stars!!!
Oh Vadim and Isobel!!! What didn’t happen when they were younger has Vadim bound and determined to right his wrongs…in more than one way!!
I loved this book so much and in so many ways. It’s a sports romance, has a strong and independent woman that’s out to prove that a woman can do anything a man can, possibly better, a strong alpha man that thinks he’s all that and a bag of chips….until he encounters the woman that could bring him to his knees literally and figuratively.
These two have a chemistry that is so much more than physical which just made this book so much more for me. I knew there would be the sizzling heat they feel, but the back and forth sarcasm had me at times snort laughing. This big Russian has such a dry sense of humor I just never knew what was going to happen next. And Isobel doesn’t let him get away with anything. As much as she doesn’t want to get hurt, she knows she can help him and just maybe she’ll open her heart to him again.
Oh and when these two do get horizontal, holy hat trick talk about steaming up the ice!!! I’m a huge fan of Ms. Meader and this series and I can’t wait for Undone By You!!!
Love this series. Each book is great. Poor Isabel and suffering the crappy father, then losing out on her dream after an almost fatal injury. And then to lose Vadim before that to the intrusive behind the scenes actions of her father. He was the broody dark Russian who has always loved her but after being screwed over and deported essentially because of her father he understandably had some issues. But there was never any short of attraction after the head butting and stubbornness on both sides. They made each other better. The big thing to cause disturbance and rock her core was hard because I saw both sides. He shouldn’t have gone behind her back but he was doing it for fear of her life because he couldn’t live without her. And she was so upset about losing her last chance. They were hot together. Loved the book. Can’t wait for cade and Dante’s book.
Kate Meader did it again! Loved this book & am loving the Chicago Rebels Series!! This is Vadim Petrov & Isobel Chase’s story with their journey to their HEA that they so deserved. It was also nice to see the Chase sister’s bonding more & getting closer as well as Vadim resolving his family issues. What an amazing read that I highly recommend!! I’ll be reading Bren & Violet’s book next!!
What’s this? A hockey romance AND it’s a second chance?! I’m there!!
Isobel is one of the three Chase sisters bequeathed their father’s beloved hockey team, The Chicago Rebels, upon his death. This series has been all about them each getting their HEAs and even more significantly, bonding with each other and getting over their somewhat less than father of the year paternal figure’s shortcomings. Isobel was at one time an up and coming hockey player and had a relationship with the world’s sexiest Russian hockey player. Both those things were taken from her, brutally, and she has never quite gotten over either loss. When Vadim, said sexy Russian player, is traded to her and her sisters’ team and Isobel becomes his personal coach, their second chance never seemed further away because Vadim never misses a chance to glare at her and brood in his corner. What could HE possibly be mad at her for?! He’s the one who made her first time less than epic, who didn’t live up to his sexy exterior. He’s the one who left her when her career lay in shambles. Isn’t he?
The tension between Isobel and Vadim is seriously the stuff romance dreams are made of. And their banter?! Oh God, sooo snarky and delicious. No one was happier than I was when they finally gave into their obvious attraction and he made up for her all her missed orgasms during their less than stellar first time. Sometimes I wanted to smack Isobel for being so freakin stubborn and bullheaded, and sometimes Vadim’s alpha male tendencies were a bit OTT, but he really did have her best interests at heart so he got a pass. Thank God Isobel’s awesome sisters finally knocked some sense into her thick skull, though, because I’m not sure she would have seen the light on her own.
I’ve loved this series so far. It’s what the best sports romances all are – sexy, witty and entertaining, and well-written. And now I’ll go devour Violet’s story, Hooked On You, and cry because it’s the last of the series.
Isobel and Vadim discover that with second chances some dreams, you didn’t even know you wished for, really can come true. Isobel made it 37 minutes into her Pro Hockey dream before it was shattered with a career ending injury. Now she finds herself living the adage those can’t do – teach. Taking a consulting coaching position with a team she co owns with her half sisters seems to be a very scrutinized move, but the ice calls to her even if she can’t be the one on it. Her first mission is to bring Vadim Petrov back up to snuff and get the Chicago Rebels to playoffs. No one knows about her and Vadim’s past entanglements and she will not let that keep her from getting his sorry Russian behind off the IR. Vadim is known as the Czar as Pleasure and on and off the ice his Russian temperament is famous. After his trade to the Rebels, he is ambushed with his newest personal coach, a woman who had once tied him knots and then just as quickly lead to the collapse of this life. Isobel Chase was a wonder to behold on skates and he knows she could help him with his knee but when she is near there is just something that ignites in this blood. When he learns about the faux pas he committed years prior during their encounter he is compelled to right his egregious misstep. Bella affects him like no other woman ever has – she can infuriate him one moment, take him to his knees in another, and drive him insane with lust in the next. His fiercely independent Bella could be the death of him if she doesn’t do herself in first.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
I loved Vadim the man amused me, “I am Russian. We do not eff around when it comes to revenge fantasies.” The man has no shame, he holds nothing back, “to apologize. With my ***k.” Isobel is not shy in stating her demands, “tonight you can have me anytime you want me, Vadim. Please don’t jerk yourself off unless you invite me to watch.” An animalistic groan tore from his throat…” Vadim is well aware of his weaknesses, “if you wish me to discuss my many, many problems, it is better we do it after ***,” he said gravely. “When I am at my most vulnerable.” Vadim is often surprised by his woman, “you were skating for over an hour with no panties?” I adored this book, Vadim was so broody and I loved it.
I just love Kate’s books. They make you swoon, they make you laugh, and they make you fall for all the characters in the book. It doesn’t matter if it’s the hero or his best friend, the heroine or her sister, you love them all.
Kate can write banter and she nails sexual tension. There was plenty of both of these in this latest book in the Chicago Rebels series. I loved how much the relationship between the sister grew in this book. I was drawn in and more invested then the previous books. I was thrilled with how much we got to spend with the guys as well. I’m so excited for the next book in this series now.
I love this series and that’s not just because I’m from IL and Chicago is a city I love. I look forward to each of Kate’s releases and recommend everyone checking out her work!
Vadim was a hottie-like spectacularly hot, maybe it’s because he’s Russian and I had this preset image in my brain-either way I loved his character so much! He was smart, devoted, and refreshingly blunt and didn’t hesitate to wear his feelings for the world to see.
Like her two half sisters Isobel also had daddy issues, but hers were intrinsically tied to her father’s hockey legacy. Being a coach instead of a player wasn’t how she saw her future and she struggles with her identity and role in the sport-as a woman and an athlete. Because of this, Isobel was a tough nut to crack! She was trying so hard to overcome hurdles as a woman in the sport that she and ended up repressing herself emotionally.
The chemistry between Vadim and Isobel was spicy, the sex sizzled, and the feels…so, so good! We get to see Harper and Remy-still going strong, Bren and Violet-all that sexy, simmering tension…And Cade and Dante?!! Fanning self here…I can’t wait for their stories!!
Kate Meader’s writing sucks me in every. single. time. Her richly layered characters and depth of emotions never fails to capture my attention! Her stories are full of humor, angst, love, and the occasional family drama…how could I not fall in love?!
So Over You by Kate Meader is the second book in the Chicago Rebels series. This series is based around three estranged sisters, one hockey team, and one mission. To keep the hockey team, they must first save it.
This is Isobel Chase’s story.
Isobel Chase is the most athletic of the three sisters. She once lived the hockey dream and even made it to the Olympics to win silver but after a horrible accident on the ice, Isobel was forced to hang her skates up or suffer the consequences of death, that one blow could bring her.
As the saying goes, those who can’t do, coach.
Now Isobel is looking to gain a coaching position. But things aren’t about to come easy, before she gets the job, she must first rehab and coach a broody Vadim Petrov. One small problem, Vadim and Isobel have a past.
Isobel and Vadim’s story is filled with sexual tension and a few hilarious moments. I really enjoyed their connection in the beginning of the novel. One thing I wish was added a bit more would be more of the back story surrounding around Vadim and Isobel’s past.
I loved Vadim’s moodiness and his tenacity and stubbornness. The same goes for Isobel. these two characters are very similar. They both have the same drive when it comes to their dreams and the willingness to do whatever they can to accomplish their goals. When two people have the same drive and the same eagerness, Wires are bound to get crossed and connections are going to either get strong or completely dissipate. This was an interesting read.
Now onto the hockey portion of the novel. The first novel had a lot of game time in the pages. This novel however, there is more one on one ice time and not so much actual game play. THat is understandable due to the fact that Vadim is in the process of rehabilitating his knee. I was a little bummed. I loved the adrenaline from the previous book, I loved getting wrapped up in the hockey aspect. That is the only reason why I had to drop a star. I wanted more hockey.
Overall, I really enjoyed So Over You by Kate Meader.
Isobel Chase knows all the ends and outs of hockey, she’s played it, excelled at it, and now she is going to try her hand at coaching it. It was always her dream to play professionally and she had her shot, but it ended quickly when she suffered an injury that there was no returning from, so now she is reuniting with her sisters and helping them keep their fathers legacy alive by running his team. She is starting to feel like things in her life might finally be looking up…. but then she meets her first “student” and she begins to wonder if she just got herself in over her head!
Vadim Petrov has never really had to want for the attention of a woman, normally all he has to do is look in their direction and they are falling all over themselves to maintain his attention… but when he meets his gorgeous new coach, his charm seems to be defective! They have history, and he thought it was a good history, one that they could rekindle, but Isobel doesn’t seem to agree, she wants nothing to do with him… other than whipping his butt into shape!!
Within the pages of this steamy little tale you will meet two headstrong lovebirds who have a history that is filled with some really good memories and some that are anything but…so when they are forced to work together things getting a little heated in more ways than one! Isobel still carries the hurt caused by Vadim’s abrupt departure and isn’t so willing to tangle with the “ruler” of the ice again, while he sees this opportunity as a way to reunite with the one girl who managed to penetrate his heart. So, as you can imagine there is a lot of tug o’ war going on, and a whole lot of angst filled battles that have the temperatures rising, and fireworks swirling… and naughty encounters that will leave you blushing!! I thoroughly enjoyed my time with these two, they had me smiling, swooning, laughing, and blushing throughout… hands down my favorite novel from Ms. Meader to date!! Highly recommend you check out this series, each installment is heavy on the steam and overflowing with heart!!
Meader delivers another wonderful romance and I couldn’t be happier. There’s so much drama and bad feelings and it just leads to a great second chance – and not just for Vadim and Isobel! I loved the Vadim has some issues he needs to address with his mother too and Meader makes sure that he does all of it with Russian-ness on full display. And I just ADORED every Russian piece of him – so haughty and formal and sexy and confident. It’s no wonder that Isobel finds him hard to resist even with the history between them. He’s also difficult and closed off and commanding … also sexy but frustrating 🙂
Like with the first book in the series, there can only be trouble if anything happens between the two but the Chase sisters aren’t afraid to dance that line. It makes things more complicated that she’s an owner and wants to be a coach while he’s her player but that isn’t their biggest issue. They’ve got to put their pasts (both individually and as a couple) to rest before they can even think about looking at what the future could bring. While there’s drama, Meader makes sure that things never get over-dramatic which I appreciate. Instead she delivers a sexy, emotional, and humorous love story that had me captivated until the end.
(This is the second in a series and it can stand on its own but I think that it will be much more enjoyable if you have read Irresistible You.)
*** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s. ***
This book was more than I thought it would be and I really enjoyed it. I really got attached to the characters. I really fell in love with Vadim. Not only does he have the looks, he has such a way about him and a loving heart. Sure he has had a wild time but we all can admit we all have from time to time. This books is so much more than that. It shows 3 sisters coming together after the death of their father and truly becoming a family. I can not wait to read the next book!
How did I miss the start of this series? I love sports romance and I am so glad I found another author that I enjoy. This is the first time I have read this author and I am going to be continuing with this series and I will be going back to check out her other material.
This is book two and this series is about three half sisters that inherit the Chicago Rebels, a troubled professional hockey team, from their philandering father after his death. Each sister has had a different relationship with their father as he went from woman to woman. The sisters had little or no relationship with each other until the will. Harper, the older sister, was ignored once he had Isobel. Now she is the most powerful woman in the NHL. Isobel followed in her father’s footsteps and played hockey. She played for Harvard, won the Silver in the Olympics and played pro hockey for a woman’s team until a career ending head injury ended her career. As her father told her, those who can’t, coach. So, Isobel is on contract to coach, having to prove herself to the GM, even though she is one-third owner of the Rebel’s. Violet, the youngest sister, never met her father or her sisters. She was nearly homeless and flat broke when she found out she inherited part of the franchise.
Isobel knows the new trade she is to work with is a sexy Russian player that she had a serious crush on when she was 18 and he was the man she chose to take her virginity. There were two problems with this. One, it was uneventful. Vadim failed to please her, and two, her father caught them and kicked Vadim out of the house chasing him with a hockey stick. He got Vadim’s passport pulled so he couldn’t try out for any US teams and ended up playing in Russia and Canada for 8 years.
So needless to say, Isobel was not thrilled to be his skating coach. He is coming off a knee injury and has lost his skating edge. Isobel is to put him through his paces and get him up to speed so he can he can help get the team to the playoffs. Oh yes, if the sisters don’t get the team into the playoffs, they have to sell the franchise, a stipulation in the will. So, they are bound and determined to get into the play0ffs and win the Stanley Cup.
The sparks fly and there is a lot of sexual tension during the skating sessions. Vadim gets told that he didn’t make Isobel’s first time as memorable as he had thought. This was told to him by his teammate that is a pain in the ass to Vadim and the sisters. This teammate was always complaining and stirring up trouble. Vadim vows to make things right with Isobel, especially since he is known as the Czar of Pleasure. The banter is terrific, not only between Isobel and Vadim, but also between the sisters and the teammates. I loved all the characters. Vadim was sexy broody and I loved how he butchered the English language at times. He and Isobel were great together.
There is a lot going on in this story, the start of a family relationship between the sisters, Harper’s relationship with Remy (a current player and their story is book 1), the dynamics between the sisters, the dynamics between the sisters and the GM (Dante), who happens to be the only openly gay GM in the NHL. There is something going on with him personally too. Vadim’s family story is a whole mess of itself. Isobel and Vadim’s growing feelings. Team dynamics. I was not bored! This story held my attention and had me flipping those pages faster then Vadim can shoot a puck! I hoovered right through it. I think the next book up is Dante’s. Squee! I can’t wait for more Rebels!
If you want a sweet, funny, and very sexy sports romance, then this is the book for you!
SO OVER YOU is the second instalment in Kate Meader’s contemporary, adult CHICAGO REBELS erotic, hockey, romance series focusing on three estranged sisters-Harper Chase, Isobel Chase and Violet Vasquez- who recently inherited the struggling NHL hockey franchise the Chicago Rebels. This is Chicago Rebel’s co-owner and skating consultant Isobel Chase, and Russian left-winger Vadim Petrov’s story line. SO OVER YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
SOME BACKGROUND: Upon their father’s death, estranged sisters Harper Chase, Isobel Chase and Violet Vasquez inherited the ownership of the struggling NHL hockey franchise-the Chicago Rebels. With only months remaining in the current season, the sisters are tasked with turning the team into a play-off bound franchise or risk loosing everything, including their father’s legacy, one piece at a time.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Isobel and Vadim) SO OVER YOU follows the second chance relationship between Chicago Rebels injured left-winger Vadim Petrov, and co-owner/skating consultant Isobel Chase, NCAA star, Olympic hockey silver medalist, and former player in the National Women’s Hockey League-thirty seven minutes that would break more than her spirit and end her career. Several years earlier, Vadim Petrov was on the verge of making a name for himself in the NHL when Isobel’s father destroyed any hopes, for our hero, for the foreseeable future including breaking the bonds between Vadim and the woman with whom he would fall in love. Fast forward to present day wherein an injured Vadim Petrov will come face to face with his past when he is traded to the embattled Chicago Rebels. What ensues is the back and forth, sexually palpable antagonistic relationship between Isobel and Vadim, as Isobel begins coaching our hero back to the star she knows he can be, and the potential fall out when Isobel battles between her head and her heart, and the man that she loves, as she endeavours to return to the game in the hopes of the elusive gold medal.
We are up close and personal as Vadim battles his own preconceived notions about the mother he believes all but abandoned her only son. With his younger sister’s burgeoning skills as an elite hockey player herself, Vadim becomes the over protective Russian bear as it pertains to the two most important women in his life-Isabel Chase and his sister Mia Wallace. The Chase fractured family dynamics begin to heal as the sisters forge together to ensure the Chicago Rebels continue their upward flight on a path bound towards the hockey playoff rounds.
The relationship between Vadim and Isobel is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people whose relationship was destroyed by a man whose sole focus was on the game that he loved-a game that would come between a father and the daughters he cared little about. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Isobel’s sisters Harper Chase and her boyfriend Remy Dupre (Irresistible You #1), Violet Vasquez; Vadim’s sister Mia Wallace, and their mother Victoria Wallace, Vadim’s personnel assistant Alexei Medvedev; team GM Dante Moretti, defenseman Cade Burnett, Rebels captain Bren St. James, head-trainer Kelly Townsend, and left-winger Leon Shay.
SO OVER YOU has moments of humor and fun; betrayal and revenge; romance and love. The premise is engaging and entertaining; the romance is passionate and seductive; the characters are energetic, dynamic and charismatic. SO OVER YOU is a story of family, friendship, forgiveness and forever.
I missed the first book in this series but Isobel and Vadim’s story is an awesome introduction for me to these characters.
Vadim, the Czar of Pleasure, has been traded to the Chicago Rebels but a previous knee injury means that he needs to work with a consultant to be ready to get back on the ice. The consultant he’s been assigned to is the girl who drove him crazy and nearly ended his dreams of being in the NHL. Vadim has very different memories of the one time he and Isobel were together and when he finds out that he left her unsatisfied, he becomes determined to right the wrongs of his past.
I absolutely loved these two characters. I loved the dual POV and couldn’t get enough of getting into the heads of both Vadim and Isobel. They’re witty, funny, independent, strong, and stubborn. Their passion burned bright and from the very first interaction they had, I wanted them to be together forever and always. I fell in love with the banter and connection between all of the characters. I can’t wait to go back and read books 0.5 and 1 and see what’s up next for the Rebels.
Loved, loved, LOVED this story! Isobel is the middle sister in this dysfunctional family who have inherited a hockey team but only if they actually make the playoffs. Isobel is the only actual hockey player of the sisters and has lived, breathed, and bled hockey since she was old enough to walk, err, skate but never felt she felt she lived up to her potential and it was taken away before she could. Now she is coaching, personal coaching, Vadim Petrov, a blast from her past, the one she could out skate but crushed on and who loved her and her dad black balled from the NHL and he ended up back in Russia playing hockey. This was a heart wrenchingly beautiful story of love and loss and finding again. Will these two strong willed athletes be able to find their way?
I definitely recommend this one. This can be read as a standalone but I really recommend the first in the series as that one is just a good! I cannot wait for more!
