A sexy new book in the Dallas Debutantes/McCool Family trilogy. All books in the trilogy can be read as standalones. Book ONE in the Grizzly Bitterroot Ranch Trilogy
A cowboy who isn’t what he appears must play private host to a spoiled Dallas Debutante who isn’t what she seems. Between frozen pipes, bonfires, bowling, a flu epidemic, a jealous ex-girlfriend and a snowstorm of the century, … a snowstorm of the century, when will they ever find time to discover the real person under their façade?
After an embarrassing disaster at her cousin’s wedding, Dr. Wendy McCool needs a change of scene and some quiet time to reflect on her medical career choices, her future and her lack of a love life…or really, any life outside of eighty-hour work weeks. An offer of a private apartment from her mother’s friend sends her off to Montana only to discover the unexpected.
After a decade in Chicago as a hedge fund manager and Zane Miller is ready to call it quits. He misses the family ranch in Montana, the fresh mountain air, and even the smell of a barn full of horses. When his mother falls ill, he heads to Montana, ready to do what it takes to get her health back, even running the ranch while his parents winter in Florida.
That he didn’t agree to was playing host to a spoiled Dallas Debutante/jilted bride. Heaven help him.

Could there be anything more embarrassing than having the groom jilt his bride at the alter by declaring his love for you, her maid of honor. This is the scene as the book opens, Wendy McCool quickly sets the errant groom straight and his bride sends him on his way. Then it all hits the internet.
This is the catalyst for Wendy to reevaluate her life and career choice. A prominent plastic surgeon, she would rather do reconstruction than face lifts and ‘nose jobs’, but those were the bread and butter of the practice.
Zane missed his home in Montana and when his Mom falls ill it was the perfect excuse to leave Chicago. He’s reconnecting to all the things he loves, the outdoors, horses and family. With his parents vacationing in Florida, his mother calls upon him to set up the barn apartment for a guest. Problem is the apartment isn’t livable after water damage.
Not only was Wendy not dressed for Montana in December when she stepped off the plane, she was going to be hit with that news. However she finds herself relaxing after settling in the main house.
Now there’s plenty of surprises in store for Zane as he gets to know Wendy. not the least of which is his attraction to her. A big problem with that going forward, he thinks she’s the jilted bride.
Wendy really has to decide what she wants to do with her life. Being away from her twin and her family is difficult for her, but really gives her a chance to find out who she really is inside.
With laughter, tears, and some sizzle, you won’t be able to put this one down.
Enjoyed the story. I decided to read another book written by the author.
Even though this is a standalone book I highly recommend reading the series. In book 3 of the “Dallas Debutantes” series, we are taken to a small town in Montana and meet Zane Miller. His parents talk him into taking a young lady into their ranch home due to a scandal that had the groom running from his bride and mentioning that he’d fallen in love with her Maid of Honor. Dr. Wendy McCool needs a little bit of R&R after the wedding debacle. What she doesn’t expect is falling for Zane or the small Montana community.
I won this book in a contest and I voluntarily chose to review it. This is a great story, it is well written and it has great characters. I would encourage you to give this one a chance it is worth your time. For me it was a quick read. This is one to take on vacation with you, that is what I did. I enjoyed this story.
I really enjoyed this book and the wonderful characters. This book was funny at times and I loved the interacting of Wendy and Zane. My only problem with the book was it wasn’t long enough. I wanted to see more of Wendy and Zane’s life together on down the road. I guess that’s what made it a good book I wanted it to keep going.
Having read the previous books in this series, I was thrilled to be able to receive a copy of this entertaining novel. As one can expect from Ms. D’Alba, there are wit, passion, and surprises aplenty. The only thing worse than being jilted at the altar is finding oneself the reason for the wedding-gone-wrong. Dr. Wendy McCool had bent backward to ensure that her cousin’s wedding was everything she could desire. She proves the adage that no good deed goes unpunished when the lily-livered groom declares his love for her at the most inappropriate moment. Worse still when the sensational story hits the headlines, Wendy is square in the middle of the fracas. Realizing that it is time to take a breather, Wendy takes up the offer of a vacation on a ranch in Montana to think things through. The initial meeting between Zane Miller and Wendy is fraught with misconceptions, but as they get to know one another, their interaction heats up, but they are plagued by interruptions of every kind. It almost seemed as if their relationship was not meant to be. However, an unexpected surprise brings them to a place where their true feelings are exposed. I love the main characters in this novel as well as the supporting cast, each bringing their own flavor to the plot. The book is well written and entertaining and I was relieved that it came to a happy conclusion, even though at times I despaired of the frustrated couple. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I loved everything about this book except when I wanted to smack both of H/h in the back the head for not telling each other how they felt.
Wendy McCool is rethinking her entire life’s choices. After a disastrous family wedding she needs to get away and decided her what she wants for the rest of her life.
Zane Miller, when his got sick he decided he was over being a big wig in Chicago and the ranch life he left behind really is his true calling.
When Zane’s mother calls to tell him Wendy is on her way to spend a few months at the ranch little did they know it would be the best Christmas ever and it would change both of them for ever. That is if they can get past their bull headedness.
The photo on the cover caught my attention. I loved the book because the characters had chemistry the story was fun and it was a page turner. It was the first book with a somewhat Christmas story that I enjoyed! I love horses and ranchers so these 2 things were a help in my initial interest yet there is nothing better than a well written entertaining book that is a page turner! I highly recommend it. It was worth the wait and I’m ready for any more new blood from Cynthis D’Alba
If you want to know if this book captured my attention , it would be a solid YES. I started the book and finished the book in one sitting. I had the tv on but I couldn’t tell you what was going on because was swept away to Montana.
When you go back to re-read the opening just to make sure you didn’t miss anything since you were laughing too much, it is a great way to start. Plus, gives an indication the book is going to a good read. There were a couple of giggling moments in the book. Moments like these help one escape from the tensions around us. Speaking of tensions…Cynthia did a great job in providing +the H/h plenty of swoony moments.
I loved that the H/h is older (35,38). They come off as individuals who have had some of pains of adulthood. Both characters were personable as well ask the supporting characters with the exception of Miss Pride and Mr. Jerk.
When a doctor decides to take a vacation to a ranch in Montana she never expects to find the man of her dreams. But can true love compete with a crazy girlfriend? Will she return when he e mails her with a declaration of love?
Great book
Very sweet romance without all the drama found in other romances and not filled with sex.
First off, can we just take another minute to admire this AMAZING Cover?! As soon as I saw this cover, I knew I wanted to read this story…then to find out it was one of my favorite Author’s was even better! Okay, so now onto the AMAZING story behind the cover…did I mention that this cover fits the story to a “T”?! So, in this story we get to see Wendy’s side of that horrible wedding disaster…so what better to do to escape than to go somewhere else. Wendy ends up going to a Ranch in Montana that is owned by her mother’s friend. She’s hoping for some days away from the city to think and take a look at her life. When she steps off the plane, she is surprised to see a cowboy waiting for her and not her mom’s friend. Zane gets a last-minute call from his mom who is currently in Florida with his dad enjoying the warmer weather, to let him know he is to pick up her friends’ daughter and take her back to the ranch. Zane and Wendy find themselves enjoying each other’s company as the days go on. Now, some other very interesting twists and turns come about in this story, but you just need to get this book to find out what happens! You will not be disappointed!
This was one I needed to get into for a escape to be wrapped around with romance and a good story as this author delivered. I quickly opened it and right away was swept away by Wendy and Zane. Both seem to have a different opinion of each other that really is not at all what is really who they are. That is half the fun of reading seeing the perceptions change as the chemistry builds. This is a story that takes you away giving you the feel goods with not wanting to leave anytime soon. I got through it quickly since the formula that is in this is so enjoyable you are alittle sad when it is over.
My major complaint about this book was it wasn’t long enough. I seriously fell in love with both of these characters. I could/would follow them forever. I see so many opportunities to add another book or two to this series including following their continuing love story.
They were really likable characters. She was so generous of her time, money and self. I could see her changing careers over into becoming a vet since she recognized she wasn’t living her dream but her sister’s.
There are so many ways to continue this story. What do you think, Cynthia? Maybe Risa and Trevor could move to Montana and join the continuing saga???
This book was gifted to me by the author in return for an honest review. Yea Cynthia, another good one to add to the many!
I so loved reading this book = the Doc and Zane were thrown together in a very unexpected way and they soon found out that assuming anything about another person can be so, so wrong – they had a long, rough road to their final HEA – I really was wanting more at the end!! I read a beta version of this story and freely choose to leave a review!
