One small town. One swoon-worthy neighbor. One second chance at love.Old Pine Cove is the one place on earth Suzie swore she’d never return to, but then her boss asks her to manage one of their bookstores there. Since it’s only temporary, she agrees. Besides, what could possibly go wrong?Gosh, how naïve of her.Alex Denverton opening the door with that smoldering look of his, that’s what could go … smoldering look of his, that’s what could go wrong. It’s been ten years since she broke his car and his heart. How is she supposed to focus on work knowing he’s right next door? And why did she even agree to organize the annual Winter Walk with him?
One thing is certain, though. If Suzie wants to have a magical Christmas, she can’t ask Santa to make it happen. It’s up to her to decide: go big or go home.
Snowflakes and Sparks is a small-town Christmas romance in the Old Pine Cove series, full of humor and heart.

I just finished reading Sophie-Leigh Robbins’s Snowflakes and Sparks. I loved it! It’s the perfect light, romantic holiday read with all the cute and quirky holiday details a person could want (gossipy townspeople, snow globes, a bookstore, and a second chance at love). Witty dialogue and characters with charisma draw you in. And I should add, it’s set in Wisconsin! Highly recommended!
This is the perfect all time read.
You can read in summer, during a heat wave like I did and let little snowy Old Pine Cove cool you down.
You could also read it in winter, since it has all the elements of a feel good Christmas movie.
In order to land a promotion at her job, Suzie has to go back to Old Pine Cove, the little snowy town where she broke not only a car and some essential Christmas decorations, but also a boy’s heart.
Will she be able to get her dreamjob and make amends for the things that happened 10 years ago?
This was a fun read. Well written, really pulling you into the story’s and characters.
Can’t wait for the second book in this series!
I loved this book! The ambiance Robbins creates in this small-town Christmas romance TRANSPORTED me. If you want to feel like you are decorating an enchanting book shop with the heroine, baking Christmas cakes with the hero, chatting over coffee with the local inn keeper, or walking through a quaint and cozy snow-covered town where anything seems possible if you take a chance, then Snowflakes and Sparks is the book for you! Highly recommend!
Snowflakes and Sparks is a cute second-chance romance set in a small town in Wisconsin. A small town that Suzie, the heroine, harbors unpleasant memories of involving a truck and snow globe accident but pleasant memories of Alex. Hoping she doesn’t run into him, she discovers he lives next door to the book store she is temporarily in town to rescue.
I was drawn in by the synopsis and captured hook-line-and-sinker by the end of page one. A cute, fast-paced story, Snowflakes and Sparks is a feel-good romance perfect for lovers of the genre. There are few twists giving the story the little bit of conflict needed to unite our couple. The author created a wonderful world that is easy to visualize and characters that leap off of the pages. The story is impossible to put down once you start so make sure you have plenty of uninterruptible time.
Snowflakes and Sparks is an amazing, fun romcom that I devoured and I loved every minute of it. I loved that one of the main settings is a bookstore—there’s mention of a favorite author (don’t we all have those?), smelling the pages in a book, there’s nothing like the smell of a new book, (don’t most of us love the smell of books?), the anticipation of a new story (yes!), and the knowledge that you’re about to embark on a journey with a new cast of unknown characters (my idea of heaven).
Suzie is sent back to her small hometown to fill a role and she does it begrudgingly, in order to advance in the company, to live her dream, to ultimately get the job she aspires to. But is that really what will make her happy? She has to face her past in Old Pine Grove and and the boy, now a man, who swept her off her feet then but who she fled from years ago.
I loved Snowflakes and Sparks and my visit to Old Pine Grove. I’m excited to see where the author goes with this series and getting to know the other characters even more.
“Because sometimes we hold on to something we should’ve let go of a long time ago.”
Books, Snow Globes, Holiday fun in a small town and a Hot Neighbor to top it off; Snowflakes and Sparks has it all to make it a Hallmark movie!
Suzie and Alex’s story was funny, cute and filled with lots of holiday cheer.
After an embarrassing incident 10 years ago Suzie is back in Old Pine Cove to manage their bookstore. While she silently hopes Alex no longer lives there and the townies no longer remember her, that isn’t the case of course. Turns out Alex is the lucky guy Suzie gets to live next to while she’s in town and he remembers everything about their time together 10 years ago.
Needless to say it doesn’t take long for old feelings to come back up. Suzie however has a ton of work on her hands with the store, drama & the towns Christmas festival besides figuring out her feelings for Alex. She’s cut short on time and has to find a way to manage it all.
It has the perfect amount of romance, some small town drama and comedy. If you love a good Christmas read Snowflakes and Sparks is it.
It’s A Sweet Christmas story attached to a second chance romance is all you need to get you into the holiday feels!
This book was super cute. I thought the storyline was unique and kept me entertained.
What I enjoyed the most though was the characters. I felt the main character, Suzie, was very likable, self-aware, for the most part, and she was funny. I also thought Alex, the other main character, was fun, sweet, and pretty much dreamy, if you like a guy who loves to volunteer, cook, and work out .
Overall, I felt this book had a lot of dynamics in the story to keep the reader engaged and invested in the outcome. It felt fresh in a genre that can sometimes get predictable and I think it is worth reading.
Suzie is back in Old Pine Cove to run the bookstore, hoping to prove she can manage the L.A. store. Her neighbor is Alex. 10 years ago, she wrecked his truck along with a load of snowglobes and broke his heart with a goodbye letter. Now they help each other and grow closer as the holiday approaches. Liked the ending, but wished it had a pregnancy announcement or a Christmas baby.

This book has been on my TBR for sooooo long, lol, and I knew that I wanted to read it for Christmas in July (yessss, this review is a little late ). Lots of Christmassy feels? A definite MUST. Cozy bookish vibes? Please, and thank you. Adorable swoonworthy moments? Give them alllll to me! Snowflakes and Sparks was a cute, quick holiday read.
As far as content goes: Some language and suggestive material/innuendos. Also, Suzie made a mental remark about Alex being a prostitute or pimp–because women kept entering and leaving his house–while also wondering if he was getting naked with all of them. She eventually told him that she thought women were paying him for sexual favors (which wasn’t the case). I can understand why this was meant to be funny, but it honestly just rubbed me the wrong way. There was no on-page sex, but it was obviously talked about. Suzie stripped down to her undergarments at one point, in front of Alex, but in a nonsexual way. I think that was everything. I would describe the book as a “PG-13 romance movie.”
I know Christmas in July is over, but if you enjoy holiday romances that take place in a small town and have Hallmark-ish feels (but with a little more suggestive content, so Lifetime-ish feels lol?) you should add this one to your list for when Christmas comes back around.
Fun, sweet romance in a picture perfect small town. Enjoyable read with some fun characters. Diane was a bit over the top, as was Heather but it didn’t detract. Will definitely read more by this author
An enjoyable read with quirky situations and characters. Suzie is reluctant to return to the scene of her embarrassing crash with her boyfriend, Alex’s truck and snow globes! I liked the writing style of Sophie-Leigh Robbins.
This was a really cute story with a Christmas setting. I have to admit, I read the third book in this series first and loved it so much I went back to read this one. So glad I did! This is such a fun and sweet rom-com. It’s a heartwarming story about love and second chances. Suzie goes back to her hometown after 10 years and sees Alex, whom she had a crush on all those years ago. Ms Robbins is an excellent storyteller and really brings the story to life with her writing. I loved visiting Old Pine Cove and seeing it through the eyes of the town people. I totally felt like I was right there seeing and experiencing everything for myself. I was captivated with the story from the start and completely invested till the end. This is a great book and series and I definitely recommend you try it!
I was gifted a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Snowflakes and Sparks by Sophie-Leigh Robbins is the cutest Christmas read ever. It is very adorable and sweet.
Will the Christmas spirit give these two a second chance at love?
Suzie Stonebrooks
Suzie Stonebrooks is a young woman living in Los Angeles, California working at a bookstore chain called Got It Covered. She is our point of view and the main character. Suzie is at first a bit hesitant to go back to Old Pine Cove, Wisconsin. However, she goes because she doesn’t want to lose a promotion over it. Suzie is a fantastic character once she gets over her doubts about managing the store in Old Pine Cove to admitting she still has feelings for a particular hot looking guy in town. If Suzie were a real person, I know that we will be friends.
Alex Denverton
Alex Denverton is the male lead in this story and was someone that Suzie knew when she was seventeen and staying in Old Pine Cove with friends. He has never left Old Pine Cove and has some good qualities. One of them being that Alex is an excellent cook and baker. The other is knowing what he wants and not letting go a second time. He does know how to take good care of his body, and Alex is a great person. He is a fantastic guy that anyone would love to have as a friend. Let alone kiss. If he were alive, I would so totally be drooling over him.
Five Stars
Snowflakes and Sparks by Sophie-Leigh Robbins is just as enjoyable as the first book I read of hers. Suzie and Alex just popped right out of the pages of this book and into my imagination. I didn’t want to put it down; I had to know what would happen next for these two lovebirds.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of Snowflakes and Sparks by Sophie-Leigh Robbins.

I love a good small town Christmas romance. This one was cute, and sweet. If you are looking for a nice clean romance, this is it.
The thing that bothered me was I felt like I raced through Old Pine Grove. The book was so fast paced, it felt like I didn’t get a chance to know the main characters, or related to them much. I would have been happy with a little more detail, or just a little more story. I did really appreciate the epilogue.
Suzie was pushing 30, but it seemed like she had some growing up to do. I liked Alex. He seemed more mature, but their relationship did remind me of high school.
It was an ok read, but it was a bit too flat for me. I couldn’t summon up much emotion for Suzie and Alex as a couple. I did like Addy. I didn’t care much for Diane or Heather, but guess I wasn’t supposed to like either one.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy received from Hidden Gems.
Snowflakes and Sparks is the first book in the Old Pine Cove series. Suzie and Alex have a history, but after ten years, Suzie runs into him again on her first night back in Old Pine Cove. Will Suzie be able to overcome past mistakes, create a successful book store, follow her dreams, and find love before Christmas?
This book was so sweet, fun, romantic, and made me crave the Christmas season! I loved Suzie and Alex and the time they spent rebuilding their friendship and even something more! Suzie is so determined, a little afraid of commitment, but she’s really loyal to those in her inner circle. We don’t get Alex’s point of view, but he just seems like such an all around good guy, that you can’t help but fall for him, especially when he pulls out his romantic side! I loved some of the drama in this book, I loved the incorporation of the Christmas spirit, and I loved how well the small town helped each other. This book left me feeling all cozy and content and it was really sweet. I’m going to keep my eye out for more books from Ms. Robbins!
This is a sweet small town second chance love story. The characters are very believable and capture your interest from the beginning. All the drama and emotional interaction will keep you turning the pages until you reach the HEA.
