Laurel and Mitch, heck the whole town of Second Chance. I can’t wait to read more. I am super curious about why Grandpa wanted to keep all the secrets.
This is the second book in The Mountain Monroes Series. While I enjoyed the first book, I really liked this second book better. That is possibly since I read them back to back and already knew the people and the town. I was anxious to continue reading about this quirky town and inhabitants. There is a mystery about the town. Why was it owned by Harlan Monroe and willed to some of his heirs?
This is the story of Mitch Kincaid – the town’s Mayor/Inn Keeper/non-practicing attorney and Laurel Monroe- twin sister to a movie star (who sometimes stepped in and pretends to be her sister), aspiring dress designer and peace maker of the family. Mitch is very protective of his town and does not want the Monroes snooping around and possibly destroying the peace he found living in Second Chance. Laurel finds herself in the town as a member of a scout team of her cousins to get the scoop on Second Chance and possibly help with a solution of what to do with their inheritance.
As the story develops, Mitch and Laurel’s story unfolds and it is a great plot. I enjoyed getting to know these two character better, as well as the other townsfolk.
The third book in this series is due to be released on September 23, 2019. I will definitely be reading to find out more of the happenings in Second Chance! By the way, you can read this book independently of the first, but you should read them both!
“Snowed in with the Single Dad” (The Mountain Monroes Book 2) by Melinda Curtis is a wonderful read. I loved Mitch and Laurel’s story. This is a great addition to this series, packed with entertaining characters, romance, humor, small-town life, family and friends, twists and turns, and more. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next in Second Chance and with the Monroes. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, small-town life, and series.
The Monroe Family is struggling with life changing events after the death of their grandfather. Especially Laurel. She’s unmarried and pregnant. She’s here in Second Chance to come to terms with her new reality. Laurel is a good woman. She’s a peacemaker. Unfortunately the stress here is off the charts. Mitch, the town’s mayor and single dad, thinks the Monroes are trouble. Why then are he and Laurel drawn to each other? Their romance is sweet and has an interesting twist. I cared for the couple and wanted a HEA for them but I wasn’t sure how that would happen. Melinda Curtis wrote a special story filled with love, caring and humor. The setting, the cast of characters and the great interaction between them pulled me in. This series has me hooked. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.
Solid 4.5 star
We are once again back in Second Chance, Idaho and the townspeople are still against the Monroe family who have invaded their town. You can’t help but love Laurel because she has more than just the issue of her family being cut off, she is pregnant, doesn’t know who she really is anymore and doesn’t want to deal with her Mother or Sister Ashley. There is plenty of banter, anger, attraction, frustration and the hope of real love as watch Mitch and Laurel dance around their attraction and whats happening with the town.
Can’t wait to hear more from the Monroe family. Mitch moved to Second Chance to raise his daughter by himself. He didn’t want to be a lawyer any more and he sure didn’t want to live in the big city. When the Monroes come to town, he knows there will be trouble. They will most likely want to take over and build big businesses and houses. The residents like their town the way it is. What he didn’t expect was Laurel. Laurel with her big city ways and fashions are a bad example for his pre-teen daughter. Plus Laural is pregnant. Mitch feels like he losing control of everything. His daughter is rebelling, the town needs a doctor, his attraction for Laural is getting out of hand and he has to figure a way to get rid of the Monroes. A woman like Laural will never stay in such a small town and besides, she has too many secrets.
Who doesn’t deserve a second chance? Well what better place to get it the Second Chance Idaho. The Monroe’s are back in this fun read. I was not a huge fan of Mitch at first I wanted to punch him. Shane and Gabby could be friends the way those two conspire to do things just killed me but they kept the book lively with there antics. Oh Sophia that women has mama bear written all over her she doesn’t just protect her cubs she protects this she loves, and Laurel was not exempt from that. I can’t wait to read Sophia’s story. Laurel has this was about her that I liked she’s fighting for her independence but not quite sure how to get it, I felt like as she discovered who she was and what she was fighting for she found herself. I really enjoyed this fun read. This book is a clean read which was refreshing as well. So worth the read you won’t regret it. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion
Snowed in with the Single Dad is the second book in the Mountain Monroes series. Although, the story’s overall setting might make more sense to readers who have also read book one, I believe the author did a good job of filling in the details for readers who jump into the series in book two.
I liked these two main characters and the situation they found themselves in. Mitch fought his attraction to Laurel the best he could, but still found himself continually drawn to the expectant mother. Laurel was a very interesting character. She was always treated as the lesser twin sibling by her mother and that really impacted her ability to see herself as valuable in her own right. She had a lot of growing to do.
This was an enjoyable and sweet romantic addition to the series and I look forward to reading more about the Monroes.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
A fun return to Second Chance! The first book in the series had the Monroe grand kids learning in their grandfather Harlan’s will that they were being let go of their jobs and inheriting the town of Second Chance, Idaho. A small group of them went to the town to scout out income potential to see if they could make a go of it. They don’t want to like the town exactly, but they seem to be falling for it … and it’s citizens! … one by one. This time it’s Laurel and Mitch’s turn! Looking forward to more in the series.
Mayor of Second Chance, Idaho Mitch Kincaid sure did enjoy his town better when it wasn’t overrun with Monroes trying to take over the town! He knows the town had it good with their trusted friend Harlan Monroe but now that he’s gone and left the town to his grand kids, they just might be the end of Second Chance as he knew it!
Laurel Monroe is pregnant, hiding out and desperate for something to take her mind off of her woes. She never would have expected to be attracted to the grumpy inn keeper, but either her hormones are flaky or she’s downright taken with him!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is a little hard for me to rate in regards to stars. I did enjoy and I am glad to have read it BUT I was really confused as to the premise of the Monroes and the town of Second Chance. I didn’t read the first story and the author did try to explain the premise of Grandfather Harlen’s deal with the town but I couldn’t wrap my mind around why the grandkids were fire from their jobs (they all worked for Monroe companies). What did Harlen’s death have to do with their firings and Second Chance? The rest of the story was good though. There was no resolution as far as Laurel’s baby daddy either.
Laurel was a wonderful female protagonist and I thought she was wonderful. Mitch was a wonderful and caring man especially with his daughter Gabby. These two was perfect for each other.
This is a sweet and clean romance. I will have to go back to the first book in this series and hopefully the questions that I have will be there.
“Snowed in with the Single Dad” by Melinda Curtis is book two of The Mountain Monroes and gives us the story of Mitch Kincaid, former lawyer and now mayor of Second Chance, Idaho, and Laurel Monroe, fashion designer and member of the Hollywood Monroes.
Mitch wants the Monroes out of Second Chance. He doesn’t want the town to change, but he is also bound by a non-disclosure agreement that he signed with Laurel’s grandfather and is unable to tell any of them the things he learned, and talked about, with Harlan Monroe.
But things are changing – his daughter, Gabby, is hitting her pre-teen years – and his feelings toward Laurel are changing, too.
Laurel is at a loss what to do next since her actions in Hollywood resulted in a pregnancy. She is basically hiding out in Second Chance. She is used to putting herself second and her twin, Ashley, first, but Mitch helps her realize now is the time to put her happiness ahead of everyone else.
Mitch and Laurel traverse their attraction like I imagine a cat and mouse would do, but the end result is way more satisfying.
“Snowed in with the Single Dad” is delightful and, yes, heartwarming. Ms. Curtis crafts characters that are complex and scenes that make you both laugh and sigh. Not only did I adore Mitch and Laurel, I adored Mitch’s daughter, Gabby, and other secondary characters like Zeke, Odette, and Flip.
I am excited for more books about the Mountain Monroes and the town of Second Chance.
Oh how I enjoyed this book! I can’t wait for every book of this series! Each one seems to get better and better! I thought the first book was great and then I read this one and thought it was fantastic! Such fun characters! Mitch seems like such a stick-in-the-mud at first. He’s a single dad of a pre-teen, very strict, mayor of this small town that the Monroes have taken over and an innkeeper. However, he also used to be a high-powered lawyer and married to a wealthy woman that drove him crazy. SO, moving to this slow, small town and raising his daughter (who I loved, by the way!) suits him just fine now. Laurel shows up and he assumes that since she’s from Hollywood and works in “the industry”, he knows what she’s all about. Well, he’s wrong and she’s going to prove it! Oh, she’s also pregnant and dealing with that too! How I enjoyed watching the sparks fly between these two! I really like all the characters in this town and the Monroes I’ve seen so far. Can’t wait to meet more of them! I think you’ll enjoy this book, I sure did!
Heartwarming book. I highly recommend this book. It’s the second book in The Mountain Monroe’s.
Laurel Monroe was never the popular twin. It was always Ashley. Now that she’s got a secret things will be very complicated.
Mitch is raising his teenage daughter and doing the best he can. His ex has values he rather not have rub off on Gabby. But when Laurel Monroe comes to town he sees his ex wife all over again. What should he do? There is also another side to Laurel he sees and can’t help but like.
See what happens between Laurel and Mitch.
