When Charlotte was young, she had a crush on one of her older sister’s friends named Jace. Everyone had made a pact in the older group of four friends to not have sex before marriage, and Charlotte’s older sister, Virginia, had Charlotte make the same promise. The other friends were Stone and Abi.
After high school graduation, Jace leaves to enter the military, and shortly thereafter, Virginia marries Stone, and she is going to have a baby. A car accident kills Virginia and the unborn child. Seven years later, Stone and Abi are married. And a year after that, Jace returns and runs into Charlotte at first thinking that he sees Virginia’s ghost.
There’s a secret mentioned in the blurb that the four friends were keeping…one that kept Stone and Abi apart for years and is currently keeping Jace from pursuing Charlotte.
This is all set up pretty well, and I found myself hoping they were all going to be free by the end.
The setting is Utah, and I’ve never been there. The book doesn’t really draw me there, either. It feels like it could have been set anywhere.
I liked Jace, Abi, Stone, Charlotte, and Grandma.
I didn’t like Charlotte’s parents and felt no sadness for Charlotte’s mother. How any woman can let her children, much less herself, be browbeaten like that is just beyond my understanding. Especially since she had people in her life who would have helped her if she had chosen to get out of the situation.
I didn’t like Virginia, either. She is supposed to be this perfect angel, and she did a boatload of damage with her lies and out of fear. None of that is an excuse. I wish that the author had given Virginia a voice via a letter…or something…to present her side rather than hear about her from the others.
I’m going with 3 out of 5 Stars for this book for the following reasons:
1. I did a fair amount of skimming.
2. It was ‘clean,’ but I found some of the setup weird for a clean romance. Like Grandma having the two of them share a bedroom.
3. I was a little irritated at people who were letting their lives be ruined by an 18-year-old girl who had passed away.
4. Someone needed to deck Mr. Oliver.
I absolutely adore how all of the authors have banded together to create the Park City Firefighter series! When I began reading “Snowed-In for Christmas” I had just knew that I had already read this novel; however, I had not just the sister novel that goes with it. To create a story so beautiful and unique, yet have another fit I perfectly with it- it’s just mesmerizing! I highly recommend all of these novels, once you read one you will have to read the rest!
Jace Mitchell is back in town to stay to Charotte’s delight. She has had a crush on him almost all her life. But she knows he had some typeof relationship with her sister that is now deceased.
Jace has noticed Charlotte and wants to take her out. He has to plait safe as he knows she doesn’t know the truth about Virginia. With the help of Char’s gran they are snowed in at her house. What will happen when she finds out the truth? Can these two make love happen?
The story line was good and you really wanted Char and Jace to get together. Char’s Grandma makes the story really cute and laughable at times. The descriptions of the characters and story where spot on. You felt like you were there with the characters. Reading about Jace milking the cow for the first time is hilarious
