loved it, different from Nora’s normal fare, but it was great!!
It took me a while to get into this book. Not because of anything wrong with the writing or narration…both of which are excellent…but because I am so invested in this trio and desperately want their happiness. By chapters 4/5, I was drawn back in to the farm setting and the group dynamics, and knew I had to face a bit of pain before I got my reward.
So really, this is the ideal middle book. Their relationship continues to grow slowly, as it should when faced with Mack’s innocence. We learn more about Tan’s past and witness the depth of his trauma. We see how much Austin is affected by not knowing what happened to a beloved family member. There is also more information about the bots and the aliens courtesy of the mysterious Pax. I so want to know more about him.
The narration by Kenneth Obi is a huge part of why I am enjoying this series, along with the excellent penmanship of Nora Phoenix. I am so tempted to read the final book…but I will wait impatiently for the audiobook.
Smolder is the second book in the Ignite series by Nora Phoenix. This is a slow burn MMM romance that takes place in an interesting world created by the author, filled with intriguing characters and story that continues from book to book. Drama, suspense, excitement…. amazing. I am looking forward to next book.
Mack, Austen, and Tan are on a farm that has plenty of food to get them through the winter if they are careful and they seem safe until visitors keep arriving. Will they be able to keep their supplies hidden and stay safe or will they have to move on and be at the mercy of the aliens again?
There is lots of action in this book as was the first. The three men’s relationship evolves and begins to heat up. So, there is a little more hot sex Nora Phoenix-style in this book. She really has a way with threesomes that I like. It is never about the sex, but the men involved and also shows how difficult that type of relationship is. I like this storyline and all the subplots. Not only is it about the alien attack, but how others are trying to find safety, the war around them and their own personal survival.
Kenneth Obi gives the story lots of life with all of the inflections of his voice and never makes you feel he is just reading a book.
Burning up
Things are heating up in more ways than one and I love it!. Mack, Austin and Tan are learning how they fit together and working through their own personal hurdles, which means that there are some bumps and bruises along the way. I like how the dynamics are changing between them as they grow closer together and become more assured of themselves.
“All we can do is hold on to each other and share what we are capable of.” We get to see some new sides to our favorite guys and they run the gamut of the emotional scale, from impressive to heartbreaking. I enjoyed the silly times they were able to have and Mack is the sweetest. He has a most poetic way with words. Parts of this book made me cry and parts of it made me very angry. Also, Nora Phoenix had some surprises on hand that had me holding my breath. No matter what I felt though I couldn’t put the book down. I need the next one now!
