Former Army Ranger, Sam Gaskill, is starting over in Glacier Creek, Montana – far away from the plains of Texas and the memories of his late wife. Taking charge as the new captain of a squad of smoke jumpers should provide him with enough adrenaline to chase away the ghosts from his past. Until a sexy, green-eyed temptress with a sassy mouth enters the picture… horsewoman, couldn’t wait to escape her hometown. But instead, an ailing mother and an unplanned pregnancy landed the impetuous dreamer right back on her father’s ranch. Laurel has managed to lead a quiet life with her young son—until she sets eyes on the tough guy with the sexy ass.
Sam already failed one woman; he won’t trust his heart with another. And Laurel is determined not to risk her heart—or her son’s—on another thrill-seeker. Can their slow burn lead to a love that lasts?

A nice cute couple. Enjoyed this book .
“Smolder” (nook) drew me right in to the storyline. The interaction between Laurel and Sam was, at times. intense. I loved the romance and angst with a happily-ever-after.
Auto-correct error? On page 44 the correct word should be “moot” rather than “mute.” “Laurel wanted to be offended, but . . . had rendered any arguments MOOT.”
Most enjoyable
Second Chances
Both for Sam & for Lauren. Sam was taking over chief at the forest fire station and was bringing his dead wife prizes horse to be worked with. Little did he know the person who would be doing this didn’t know what her father had planned. Lauren loved raising her son, and helping her parents but we’ll surprised by Sam. Her little boy wasn’t so sure either.
I really enjoyed this book.
Great storyline, romantic
Fun to read, romantic book. Easy to read, entertaining, witty & wonderful characters!
SMOLDER is a standalone read with a HEA. It is sexy if that is an issue for you. This story should have been named “Smoking”. This guy is HOT. Yes he is a firefighter but still HOT. Great hero.
After losing his wife he moves to Montana to head up a group of firefighters. It is a very interesting story and he has a great love interest. I loved this story. You learn about firefighting in this area as well as getting a good love story. I definitely recommend it.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 7/31/19
Really enjoyed this one …. and hints about the other people amongst these smokejumpers
I love it especially the little boy how he love the animals also how he love his parents he wanted them to be a family. But in fell in love with the other guy
This story brings together a former military hero and a young mother who had to give up her dreams of being a champion horsewoman. He is a widower who wants to fulfill his dead wife’s dream for her horse. They find love in a second chances kind of way. Her son is adorable.
Great read!
Smolder by Tracy Solheim is a great contemporary romance. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Solheim has delivered a well-written book and furnished it with outstanding, lovable characters. Sam lands in Montana after leaving the military as captain of Glacier Creek’s forest service station. Laurel is a single mom finishing up her classes to get her CPA. Laurel and Sam’s story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle and action. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from Tracy Solheim soon. Smolder is book 1 of the Firefighters Of Montana Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Intense read- Sam is a former Army Ranger moving from Texas to Alaska to get a new start as captain of sm0ke jumpers. Laurel is a former championship horsewoman wanting out of this town, but she is tied to home because of her son and her ill mom. Crazy intense book
Great characters and story! Kept you guessing and did not end as I thought!
Easy to read, enjoyable summer read.
I liked it!
At first I didn’t love the heroine, but she grew on me. Sam was hot right away.
Enjoyed the characters. Will read other works by this author.
