An enjoyable and heartwarming read. Can’t wait to read another story from this author.
I was happy to find this book about smokejumpers. To me, they are the ultimate hero. Jumping out of planes into forests to put out fires is dangerous work that only the most skilled firefighters can do. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the rest of the series.
Sam was the new captain of the smokejumpers in Glacier Creek, Montana. It’s a big change from his life as a Ranger and coming from Texas but he’s up for the challenge. Wanting to fulfill his late wife’s dream, he took her showhorse with him, boarding her at Whispering Breeze Ranch. While she was there, they were to work with her so she would be ready to compete at the highest level and hopefully win the world title.
Laurel was the woman who would train the horse. I loved how she didn’t have a filter, saying things before thinking. Her life revolved around her young son and she had no intention of getting involved with a man. Especially not a thrill-seeker like her son’s father. She was surprised by the intensity of her feelings for Sam. It was much more than just appreciating his ass. Sam was just as surprised by his attraction to Laurel because that hadn’t happened since he lost his wife. Will they let go of their pasts and move on?
This is a wonderful romance that had me sighing, smiling and biting my nails. If you like tension-filled romance, I definitely recommend Smolder.
I love happy endings when the children and animals are happy, too. Wished there was a little more about the development of the horse and rider for the show ring ( both rings) and I didn’t know what happened to Oreo. Missed it.

5 stars
I purchased a copy of the steamy novel Smolder: A Firefighters of Montana Romance: Book one:Sam and Laurel Tracy Solheim and this review was given freely.
An easy flowing action packed second chance at love romance with a blended family, a hint of steam and a great introduction to the brave, protective Montana Forest Service Smokejumpers. Moving to Montana from Texas to become the new captain of Glacier Creek, Montana’s forest service station and its smokejumpers after the death of his wife Becky, grieving ex Army Ranger captain Sam Gaskill boards Becky’s horse Tabitha at the struggling Wayne Keenan’s Whispering Breeze Ranch where impulsive former reigning champion and single mom Laurel Keenan and her son Tyson help him heal.
***Scorch
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the steamy novel Scorch: A Firefighters of Montana Romance: Book two:Vin and Jaci by Dani Collins and this review was given freely.
Covering the same time frame as book one, good friends come together after less than happy marriages in this poignant action packed novel featuring both social and firefighting scenes. Returning to Glacier Creek, Montana after a bereavement leave with her Florida relatives, grieving widow Jacqui Edwards plans to retrieve her belongings and her dog, quit her job and complete the sale of her home but didn’t count on the strong attraction to her husband’s best friend the divorced fire jumper Vincent Kingston.
***Ignite
3 stars
I purchased a copy of the slowburn/steamy novel Ignite: A Firefighters of Montana Romance:Ace and Lina Book three by Nicole Helm and this review was given freely.
A virgin-alpha firefighter romance with an instant attraction between two characters who are each hiding their hurt and loneliness behind a facade. This sequel is a somewhat steamy romance that includes a Glacier Creek smokejumper and a step by step analysis of Lina and Dean’s every thought and action but ultimately ends happily. Looking for her best friend Jess Clark’s brother Dean and hoping to escape her father’s influence, the introverted and socially awkward Dr. Lina McArthur moves to Kalispell and the Regional Hospital’s ER where the secretive smokejumper “Ace” Clark happens to be her patient.
*** Heat
3 stars
I purchased a copy of the mildly steamy novel Heat A Firefighters of Montana Romance Book 4:Dodson and by Karen Foley and this review was given freely.
Drama and action packed, this sequel returns us back to the hectic life of the Glacier Creek forest station team and contains a brief introductory summary of the first two books as well as an attraction at first sight romance between divorced and disillusioned with marriage Tyler Dodson and the woman he saves, California veterinarian Callie McClain who is visiting her father at his wolf sanctuary.
***Flame
3 stars
I purchased a copy of the steamy novel Flame: A Firefighters of Montana Romance Book 5 by Victoria Purman and this review was given freely.
A second chance at love romance with vivid descriptions, a caring uncle and a steamy love story. A year after Russ’s death and Sam’s becoming Captain, prior high school friends, smokejumper Dex McCoy and his first love the owner of Cady’s Cakes bakery, Cady Adams return to their hometown of Glacier Creek, Montana and starting their dream jobs but have a hard time moving past an awkward encounter and panic attacks.
Fairly quick read. I enjoyed it but wasn’t riveted.
I had a hard time getting into this book. There was a lot of time spent on the training and duties of smoke jumpers rather than the developing love between the H and h.
