Smokin’ Hot Cowboy Christmas is the seventh book in Kim Redford’s Smokin’ Hot Cowboy series. Belle Tarleton, owner and CEO of Lulabelle and You western fashions, has taken over the Lazy Q Ranch in Wildcat Bluff, Texas. Her family from east Texas purchased the west Texas ranch to help out the elder couple who wanted to retire and move closer to family. Her ranching family will continue to manage the ranch and livestock, but Belle has hopes of also creating an arts center on her property, as well as a home office where she can run her business. However, somehow the locals have gotten it into their heads that Belle plans to turn the place into a dude ranch and that just won’t do. So they concoct a plan whereby the son of Bert Holloway, Bert Two, also known as the unluckiest cowboy in the county, will take on the personna of Rowdy, handyman and free spirit.
After being left high and dry by several contractors, Belle turns to Hedy Murray, head honcho of Wildcat Bluff Fire Rescue, begging for help, hence the plan was concocted. But rather than help her achieve her goals, the plan is to go so painfully slowly that Belle becomes so frustrated she returns to her company’s headquarters in Dallas. But the plan backfires when Belle and Rowdy meet and sparks fly.
The community has more than underestimated Belle and when the Buick Brigade, four elderly ladies that seem to work magic, takes a shine to Belle and enlist her to change Rowdy’s luck, the story takes off in different directions.
This is a well crafted story that incorporates humor, romance, mystery, and the story of a very determined woman, the equally determined little girl from the next ranch, and the love story of a large black bull and his beloved cow. With many surprises and a heartwarming plot, I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!
SMOKIN’ HOT COWBOY CHRISTMAS is Kim Redford’s 7th book of the SMOKIN’ HOT COWBOYS series. It has been one fiasco after another for Belle in trying to turn her ranch into arts center before her Christmas party, so she hires Rowdy Holloway to help with the renovations. Rowdy Holloway is Bert Two Holloway, the unluckiest cowboy in the whole of Wildcat Bluff County. It started as a simple mission, but Rowdy falls for Belle and now he doesn’t know whose side he’s on. Kim Redford delivers humor and ignites a fiery passion between Rowdy and Belle and brings the loveable characters of Wildcat into the mix, making SMOKIN’ HOT COWBOY CHRISTMAS hot, hot holiday romance.
Really loved all the small-town flavor on this heartwarming holiday journey. This adventure is filled with witty and engaging charters, heart racing twists, divided loyalties and undeniable passion. Highly entertaining holiday adventure.
This is Bert Two’s story or Rowdy sounds better to me – anyway when Belle enters the picture and the short straw is drawn, hold on tight and enjoy this West Texas story of love and finding a home forever! I read a netgalley copy and freely leave my review!
Smokin’ Hot Cowboy Christmas book seven in the series by Kim Redford had me scratching my head at the beginning. I wasn’t sure why Wildcat Bluff County did not want her working dude ranch there. It made me dislike this small minded small town area. As for the hot unlucky cowboy, Rowdy should have refused to do what the town people ask him to do. Since this is the first book I have read by Kim Redford I do not know if the rest f the series takes place in the same county. Perhaps if I had I would have understood these people better.
As for the relationship between Rowdy and Belle Tarleton it is instant lust on his part. Probably not so uncommon in hot blooded males in life. She has an appreciate for his physique but what she desperately needs is a work who will actually work. She has an end goal in mind that I could get totally behind. As the story progresses it is clear from the storyline that “helping her may be the luckiest thing he has ever had happen. The times the focus was on these two together was my favorite. I also so wanted the Christmas party at the ranch to be a go. Smooth pacing and well-developed plot so that I was invested in Bella and her plans.
3.5 Stars
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I just have to say I loved the Buick Brigade. This is an entertaining story about Belle Tarleton and Rowdy aka Bert Two Holloway. Rowdy is known as the unluckiest cowboy in the county and draws the short straw to help delay Belle’s renovations to the Lazy Q Ranch. I really enjoyed this story and what happens when the Buick Brigade decides to get involved. I loved the story about Fernando and Daisy Sue. Storm sure is a firecracker for a little girl, lol. I won’t leave any spoilers, so grab your copy and see what happens in this beautiful story.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Nice romance
Town didn’t want her to start up her business and tried to make problems for her and stop her party
Was funny reading about Her cow you just wouldn’t give away a prize breeding cow ! All In all a good story
Smokin’ Hot Cowboy Christmas is the seventh story in the Smokin’ Hot Cowboys series – and, frankly, up to this point, I completely fell in love with and adored this small town full of interesting people and stories that touched my heart every time. But not this time.
Since when did the good folks of Wildcat Bluff become such bullies and really not so nice people? Seriously people – what kind of kool-aid have you been guzzling to act this way? Okay, so you’re concerned that Belle’s new ranch/business will bring in strangers to the town, that there will be too much traffic, too much everything that will take away from the “special feel” of this usually welcoming town. No. Just no, these aren’t the townsfolk I’ve come to enjoy over the years with this series. At. All.
And then… then when the Buick Brigade welcomes Belle, gets behind her, supports her somehow the wisdom of the people doing all of this damage to Belle still keep on with their plans. We all know that these ladies rule Wildcat Bluff, and no one ever pulls one over on these ladies… and you think suddenly a newcomer like Belle could have done that? Again, seriously, dudes.
Do not get me started on Rowdy. He was falling in love with Belle. And he still continued to lie, deceive, misrepresent what he’s doing to her business – and to her heart. Disappointed in these people (sure fictional but I’ve known them for a while now) beyond words.
So, I’m completely torn on my views of Smokin’ Hot Cowboy Christmas. On one hand, it was such fun to return to a comfortable place where I knew the background of most of the secondary characters we run into and liked most of them. The chemistry between Rowdy and Belle was off the charts and I really wanted to see them together, happy, and beyond all this nonsense. I adore the Buick Brigade, those elders will always make me laugh or chuckle with their shenanigans so they were a bright spot for me. Yet. One of my favorite fictional towns just turned into a huge bully – and that does not sit well.
In the end, I’m going to say that Smokin’ Hot Cowboy Christmas is a good story, and at the base of the romance part, it is, no denying that. If you’ve followed this series, then you’ll certainly want to pick this one up to continue on that journey. Every reader has their own opinion about any story, so read Belle and Rowdy’s story and make up your own mind. I loved the romance, was disappointed in many of the characters so it was a 3.5 star “good” read for me this time. As always, Kim Redford’s writing is spot on, she weaves an intriguing tale — and it’s totally on me that I saw the townsfolk’s actions far differently than I usually would in this series. If this is your first time in Wildcat Bluff, please go check out the series from the beginning, I have to say that the characters I’ve known and loved throughout this series will make that worth your while.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
3.5stars
Belle is new in Wildcat Bluff County, and her modern ways make local people nervous. So Rowdy puls the shortest straw and is the one who has to unhelp Bell by her planes to update her ranch. Soon Rowdy realizes that they are making a mistake but feelings develop between him and Bell and with each passing day there is harder and harder, to tell the truth. There is so much going on from pigeons, cows, and bulls, to abounded house and there is not a thing about Christmas. Also, the love story between Bell and Rowdy is such abruptly that I didn’t feel it although the characters are developed.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
Solid 3.5 star
This was a fun read cowboy read with plenty of laughs, sexy cowboys a determined women and a miss guided town in regards to what they think Belle is up to versus what she really wants to do. You meet some great characters that have you rolling your eyes, giggling and want to shake them as well as a storyline that keeps you turning the page to see what how things will pan out!
A quick holiday read. I liked the premise of the story but had a hard time connecting with the main characters. Loved the Fernando storyline.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley.

Have yourself a Smokin’ Hot Cowboy Christmas
It’s been one fiasco after another for newcomer Belle Tarleton since she began trying to turn her ranch into an arts center. Local workers seem determined to ruin her Christmas party plans, and she hopes bringing in down-on-his-luck Rowdy Holloway to help with renovations will get things back on track.
Rowdy is the unluckiest cowboy in the whole of Wildcat Bluff County, Texas, and things are not improving this holiday season. Sure, he’s the object of many local women’s drool-worthy fantasies, but the town has decided he’s the man who should stop Belle’s renovation plans.
It started as a simple mission, but now Rowdy’s so twisted up he doesn’t know whose side he’s on. With only days until Christmas, Rowdy and Belle need to tap into their fiery personalities and off-the-charts chemistry if they’re ever going to find a way to thaw the ice on this reluctant town’s heart.
How long until she throws the novel …
Wow!
It is a read I liked but left me with very conflicted feelings.
At first I thought it was abuse, bullying of the worst sort. Many against a sole person.
But as the ultimate goal behind the deception was hidden, until the very end the heroine has no idea in which world she has set foot.
I hated the town people for thinking they could be the kings of their world, in which universe someone can decide who has to come or go?
And while Bella could be pointed as a bit at fault by not introducing herself and meddling more with the town folk, she just wants to set her roots and install her business there, a venture that could be beneficial to the city too.
And because those people do not understand it or just because they feel they have the right to, they decided to make her leave.
It is my first read by the author so I do not know the characters from the previous books, still if they were good people why this scheme?
Plus what I did not understand was why once they learned the infamous Buick Brigade was welcoming her, they kept going with their plan. The old ladies are described as the trendsetter of the city so why going against them?
Up the moment the bully group learned about the BB support, they should have backtracked.
Belle is nice and kind, but she seems drown by her business upkeep. She goes in many directions but does not seem to reach anything.
She is in some way very naive and trusting, and easily lost.
Like the Daisy Sue matter, it was one stupid move after another, when it could have been simply dealt with a sole phone call.
Rowdy or Bert Two is as much at fault as the heads behind the push out scheme, even if he has drawn the short straw, he followed the lead. And when he realized he was in love, he still continued his deceit. He should have put all the brakes on and confess it all.
But no, every day he buried his cowardice under another falsity.
It is a 4 stars read with lot of fun, an overwhelmed heroine much too forgiving, a doomed hero in need of groveling and a fiery elderly squad.
I was granted an advance copy by the publisher Sourcebooks Casablanca, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

The Buick Brigade strikes again! There’s no stopping them.
Belle Tarleton has moved into the family ranch in Wildcat Bluff. She has lots of plans for the place. As CEO of the Lulabelle & You Company she has decided to throw a Christmas party at the ranch and envisions the event to double as an introduction to buyers and the media to her newly-named Lulabelle & You Ranch. She wanted to spruce up the ranch house for the party, but progress has been slow. Actually progress has been nonexistent. The new roof shingles, gutters and paint supplies are scattered on her front lawn. She hadn’t been able to find anyone to do the work – until Rowdy arrived. Rowdy was one hot cowboy! He insisted he was more than capable of doing what needed to be done. Thank goodness. Yes, she wanted to use the ranch for promoting her business but she also wanted it to be a place to support different creative arts. There’s only six weeks ’til Christmas and lots needs to get done. Belle knew she had to tamp down her attraction to Rowdy and get down to business. Which, as things turns out, also includes the Buick Brigade’s business.
Bert Two “Rowdy” Holloway, also known as the unluckiest cowboy in the county experienced his typical bad luck again. He drew the short straw in the county locals’ plan to discourage Belle Tarleton enough in her plans so she would want to leave Wildcat Bluff County. They thought her business would bring too much traffic and outsiders to their quiet county. In addition to being one of the county’s volunteer firefighters and ranch owner with his dad, Rowdy was quite skilled with construction and woodworking. But his job here at Belle’s ranch was to stall and delay getting the work she needed done. This was not sitting well with him. As time went on Rowdy felt worse and worse. He was falling for Belle and knew the deception had to stop. Will Belle forgive him?
Smokin’ Hot Cowboy Christmas by Kim Redford is the seventh book in her Smokin’ Hot Cowboys series. This series takes place in a small county in West Texas. Usually the people all work together there to the benefit of all. Not really knowing all of Belle’s plans they assume the worst. I was happy to see that my faith in these characters wasn’t in vain. The whole group finally saw that they were wrong. You would think they would have realized their error sooner when the Buick Brigade welcomed Belle. The Buick Brigade is comprised of four elderly ladies who no one in the area wants to upset because they are so highly respected. I enjoyed the Buick Brigade’s antics and their means of communication. Carrier pigeons – only in Wildcat Bluff County!
