“Burr indeed. One long brrr down my spine happened while reading Katy Regnery’s latest installment of her series.” –Melanie Moreland, New York Times bestselling authorFrom the New York Times bestselling author of The Blueberry Lane series comes a new trio of romances featuring the Haven triplets!Tierney Haven and Burr O’Leary come from completely different worlds… there’s a reason they say “opposites attract.”
Bookish Tierney Haven has always preferred places to people, and she especially loves the peace and quiet of Moonstone Manor, an estate museum located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, where she is head docent, chief historian and live-in caretaker. The very last thing she expects to find on her doorstep in the middle of the night is bruised and bloodied stranger, Burr O’Leary, in desperate need of her help.
Against her better judgement and at the risk of her brothers’ wrath, Tierney offers Burr sanctuary at Moonstone Manor, and nurses him back to health, surprised to discover that the dashing, enigmatic stranger loves the history and peace of Moonstone as much as she. But Burr has a dark history, and those who hurt him will stop at nothing to eliminate him…placing Tierney in grave danger until he is well enough to find them first.

This story was adorable. Loved the shared speak in ‘Irish’. They were drawn to each other from the start. After their shaky first encounter. He protected her fiercely and would do Anything for her. And she was there for him when no one else was risking everything to help a stranger. Loved how she stood up for him against his father. And how they just fit together. So cute.
Oh my Burr
Burr arrives on Tierney’s front door in the early morning hours. Tierney thinking it’s her brother Ian who has fallen off the wagon, is surprised to see it’s a stranger who looks like he has been through the ringer. Tierney helps to heal Burr by telling a fib to Dr. “Weasel” (Forgot his real name!) Dr. Weasel has been after Tierney for a date and finally gets an in when he comes to suture Burr’s “hunting wounds up”. As time progress for Tierney and Burr, Burr realizes he needs to leave and go to the “safe house” so he can escape from the New Killens. Needless to say I won’t give away all the secrets of this book.
Burr is sexy hot, may look scary, be demanding and protective AF. If anything, I want a man like him, a selfless warrior with the heart of gold. Tierney is outspoken, loyal and not afraid to use a spatula as a weapon.
I loved the Irish in the book. I just wish I had a voice thingy to help with the annunciation of how to say “aisling”
I would give this book 5 Stars and am looking forward to Ian’s book.
Tierney’s story! The shy awkward twin! Not after having Burr enters her life! So much happens so quickly in this story that you can’t wait to see what will come of this unexpected visitor! This series is so much fun to read! I highly recommend this!
I loved watching Tierney come into her own. She comes across as fearless, but her biggest fear is ending up alone, without love, without a family because she definitely doesn’t put herself out there. She has prospects but she wants passion like the true Irish woman she is. Burr is looking for a safe haven, if only for a day or so. Although he slowly falls for Tierney, his past could put her in harms way and he will do anything to make sure that doesn’t happen…even if it means losing his own happiness. Can these two from very different worlds make it work?
The Haven triplets grew up in a summer camp that was run by their parents. Rory did his best to behave himself and follow the no dating the campers rule set down by his very strict Irish mother, Tierney was a bookish girl who was too shy to be friends with the campers, and Ian had a hard time even getting close to the rules.
Ten years later Rory is running the camp as a convention center/ retreat after his mother had a stroke right as he was graduating from college. Tierney lives nearby and oversees the buildings and tours for a local landmark, and Ian is an alcoholic who is only in touch periodically.
When Tierney opens her cottage door at 4 a.m. in the middle of a fierce storm, she thinks her brother has fallen off the wagon and he is the one pounding. Instead it is Brrr O’Leary, an undercover cop from Boston, on the run from the local mob. Brrr has been shot in the shoulder after being set up and has gotten lost on the way to what he thinks is a safe house.
As she helps him heal, she also gives him a place to hide until the person who betrayed him is found and he can go back to Boston.
I can’t tell anyone enough how much I adore Katy’s writing and her stories. Every one of them has something unique about them and always makes you want to read more of her books. She’s definitely one of my favorite authors and a one-click for me.
I loved the chemistry between Tierney and Burr ‘Brian’. With how the author has written the story you just feel the attraction between them and you are rooting for them all the way to the end!
I cannot wait for the third book to come out in this series.
Tierney has always been the loner of the family and likes to be on her own. She has a great family and a job she loves and that’s all she really needs. One thundering night someone bangs on the door and that’s the start of a new adventure for Tierney and maybe it’ll be everything that she never thought she’d ever dreamed about of having…
Burr’s been wounded and in a stormy night ends up banging on a strangers house to get sanctuary but he never thought that she would be the one to give him something more than that. But his past isn’t gone and when it comes back to haunt him, he’ll need to do whatever it takes to keep her safe..
Smiling Irish was completely unexpected, for me. I was surprised by how intense it was and the darker themes running through it. After reading the first book in this series, Fighting Irish, I was expecting lighter fare, but I loved the suspense and more serious feeling of this book.
When we met Tierney in Fighting Irish, I wasn’t that intrigued by her, to be honest. She was a lovely sister, but she seemed boring. Once I started reading Smiling Irish, I realized I was happily mistaken with my first impression. She was brave and smart and loyal, and the girl continually impressed me with how well she held her own, I had assumed she was a bit of a pushover. And maybe the best part of her was her sassiness, she did not hold back and didn’t waste a second to defend the people she loved.
Burr broke my heart a little bit. I couldn’t imagine living the way he did, beyond the implications the lifestyle held for his safety, he sacrificed so much to do his job, and it was beyond devastating to see what happened to him. For all his gruff exterior, Burr was an amazingly considerate man. He may not have been able to give Tierney everything she wanted when she wanted it, but he was always honest about what he could give and what his desires were.
Fighting Irish was on the border of being a romantic suspense without ever truly crossing that line. I wish Ms. Regnery would have pushed that envelope and added more danger into the book; it would have taken it to the next level. There was enough intrigue to keep me invested in the story, and I loved how the situation with Burr introduced a connection and reliance on one another that may not have otherwise existed between him and Tierney.
I had a couple wishes for this book; the first was an issue with continuity. There were a few continuity issues in Smiling Irish, neither of them was hugely critical to the plot line, but they were frustrating. The second were some minor editing issues, a few typos that were skimmed over during the editing process that need to be addressed.
The blurb for this book is so well written, I couldn’t not read this book! And the Traditional Irish toast/poem that opens the book makes me smile and rings very true. Chapter One starts this book off so differently than Book One-(Fighting Irish) in the series, making this book a slight crime drama instead of a plain (but amazing) romance. Some of my favorite things are in this first chapter: thunderstorms, Gaelic, Alpha males, strong women, contradictions, curiosity, and unearned trust. It only gets better from there!
The only girl in the Haven triplets we first met in, Tierney is introverted and bookish. But she’s also a strong, loving and over all amazing woman, who takes care of her brothers. She’s a strong protector, who keeps herself safe with her books and content with her degrees and secure with her position doing something she loves. But when Burr O’Leary knocks on her door needing help, she doesn’t hesitate…much. We’re immediately drawn into the is-he-isn’t-he-a-good-guy debate. Tierney’s trust and Burr’s need to protect and get justice prove a gripping plotline.
I was excited to get to know Tierney more in this book. We first met her in Fighting Irish, and despite her small role, we knew she was the soul of the triplets, and would fight for her brothers happiness. I loved how even one chapter in, you could tell she was the kind of woman who doesn’t lose herself to panic and thinks things through and isn’t going to fall prey to the “need a strong man to save me in every situation and panics at a drop of a hat” that seems to befall many woman that share a book with a strong male figure. Meanwhile Burr gets introduced in a less than enthusiastic and pleasing manner. Is he a criminal, or a good Irish man in the wrong place at the wrong time? Either way, a great protector who has a whole book to work it out with Tierney.
The slow burn and buildup of chemistry for these characters makes me love the book even more. “If she agreed to a friendship with Burr, she’d be ignoring the whisperings of her heart and the fierce longing that had already taken root in her body.” Sparks fly from the beginning, but they start as bravery and bluster, and transform gently from there, in a fluid and realistic manner. Bookish Tierney who is comfortable in her New Hampshire home meets her match in Boston Proud policeman Burr, defying the odds and finding themselves as individuals and a couple along the way.
Once again Ms. Regnery’s writing style worked so well. The poignant differences in the characters along with humorous conversation and family kept the story going despite a dark and sinister plot thread. Her amazing ability to weave storyline had me reading the book straight through…twice. Additionally, it puts into perspective just some of the challenging work our nations police force has to tackle, and the sacrifices they and their families make. Thanks to all the public service workers out there!
“Our story began on a dark and stormy night, aisling. Those tales don’t always end well.” The author does an outstanding job on creating a graceful plot line with twists and turns, ups and downs, and carefully and neatly keeps it all in order. All the pieces are dealt with; with detail and thought, leaving nothing of this book hanging…Unless you count a few tidbits to lead us into her next book. But even those tidbits are done in a brilliant manner that leave you wanting more and excited for book three, not frustrated at the not-knowing. I’m looking forward to reading about Ian in “Loving Irish.”

SMILING IRISH is Book #2 in The Summerhaven Trio. There will be 3 books in this series that could be read as stand-alone, but you will not want to miss any of the Irish shenanigans.
Tierney Haven is the only girl in the Haven triplets. Her brothers Rory and Ian are her most dear family and they are connected for life. They are there for each other through thick and thin. Bookish Tierney has always preferred places to people, and she especially loves the peace and quiet of Moonstone Manor, an estate museum located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. She is head docent, chief historian, and live-in caretaker. Her small cottage home is where she feels safe and close to her brothers at Summerhaven. That is till she wakes up to pounding on her door one dark and stormy night. Thinking it is her brother Ian having fallen off the wagon, she opens the door wide to find a bruised and bloody stranger, Burr O’Leary. He seems in desperate need of her help, and against her better judgment takes him in to her own sanctuary.
I wasn’t sure that Burr was the right man for gentle Tierney. He was injured and delirious, so I cut him some slack. I was sure her brothers would not be as forgiving. When he needed medical care and didn’t want her calling a doctor, her veterinarian friend, or as Burr called him Dr. Wiesel, was one of the best parts of the book. No two people on earth could be more mismatched as Tierney and Burr.
But to Tierney he’s the one she had been waiting for all her life. For Burr’s soul Tierney was a balm for the upheaval of his burned and battered past. Grave danger and trouble followed Burr to Tierney’s quiet life. He was from Boston and her home was worlds apart from there. Both very Irish and very stubborn. Could love be enough for them to find a place to share, be together, and safe?
I will try to patiently wait for Ian’s story LOVING IRISH, The Summerhaven Trio book #3.
Tierney has been a recluse pretty much her whole life. Other than her family she lives life alone. When an injured stranger forces himself into her home things quickly begin to change.
Burr is in hiding from a Boston gang that he’s been gathering information on as a undercover cop. Suddenly his cover is blown and everyone around him is in danger as they hunt him down. Realizing that Tierney opened a door for them to find her he rushes to protect her with all that he has.
I love a protective alpha hero and a sweet, sassy, innocent heroine. This couple had so much working against them and yet through it all their relationship blossomed. This had so much heart to it with deep emotions and sincere struggles that were not contrived. The angst level ratchets up pretty high the last part of the book but not due to conflict between the couple but because of outside forces. It just about broke my heart in two to watch them battle for their happy ever after.
I enjoyed this one even more than book one! It felt a bit longer but was still a smooth solid read. The chemistry between the hero and heroine wasn’t forced and it steadily grew. The heat level is low and there’s pretty much no real sexual contact until the last 20% of the story. The main secondary characters did not play much of a role but the ending did set us up for the next book.
Interesting story, I don’t think that I would have opened my door to a stranger but it worked out well.
*I was gifted this book from the author and freely give my review*
Book #2 in The Summehaven Trio is a slow burn story that captures me from the first moment.
This is what I liked:
* Very good storyline
* Great characters descriptions and I feel like I know them when the book ends.
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
* Dialogues is fun and heartfelt and there’s enough to keep it interesting.
* I love how Tierney is bringing Burr back to his new life with her honesty and love.
* The love scenes is intense and filled with emotions.
* In some books I often find that the characters gets distant and I don’t feel connected to them but this author always makes me feel connected to her characters in a unique way. I don’t know what she does but I’m always hooked.
This is a series I most likely end up reading again at some point. The author knows how to hold on to this reader. 5 stars
Oh, Burr O’Leary is just the greatest. The beginning of Burr and Tierney’s relationship isn’t conventional, hell, it couldn’t even be considered a meetcute, but holy moly, it’s amazing.
Tierney is the quiet, solo Haven triplet. She likes her silent life. She doesn’t have the desire to spend her time around a bunch of people and enjoys the quiet life she has mapped out for herself.
But Burr O’Leary comes banging into her life in the middle of the night and he never really leaves. Through some crazy twist of fate or luck or divine intervention, these two find each other on a dark and stormy night and then they find themselves in each other.
Another perfect Katy Regnery story, told in third person POV, Burr and Tierney will have you cheering for them and hoping for all the best things. These two deserve it.
I can’t get enough of these Irish triplets. I can’t get enough of the Irish that is spoken between the characters. It adds depth and realism to the story and makes me feel as if I’m right there, in New Hampshire, with the Haven family.
I’m looking forward to Ian’s story! I can’t wait to see what happens with this family!
Smiling Irish is such an awesome, romantic and entertaining story. Beautifully written, the story just draws you in from the start.
“Our story began on a dark and stormy, night, aisling. Those tales don’t always end well.”
Tierney is a great heroine. She is strong and independent, but both supports and relies on her family. And Burr is a perfect swoony, if slightly overprotective hero.
“Don’t dangle a steak in front of me, then tell me to eat dog food. Don’t tell me you want me, then tell me to move on, because I can’t. I won’t. My mind’s fixed on you. If things don’t play out between us, I’ll always wonder.”
After reading Fighting Irish I couldn’t wait to read Tierney’s story. Smiling Irish is the second book in the Summerhaven Trio series, but they are all standalone stories. But, I really loved getting more of Brittany and Rory! Their love is just SO romantic!

I really like the writing of Katy Regnery, she always writes cute and tasty books , with Smiling Irish was no different. I liked book 1 very much but this one surpassed and the very first one mainly by the suspense.
Tierney has always been a very shy girl and even needing to open her wings to fly, she prefers her books and the tranquility of her job. While helping the mysterious Burr, she is faced with new sensations and emotions that she had not known before.
Burr needed to change his life to fulfill a mission but this mission begins to put at risk who is around him and he has to decide what to do, because after meeting the sweet Tierney his priorities change and he wants more of life.
Narrated in the third person alternating the POV of each protagonist I followed the exciting journey of this couple. I liked too much how the plot was built, I liked that the writer did not have to leave the book heavy to attract to the reading and I loved all the emotions that I felt with the unfolding of everything and the end was wonderful.
Not to mention that cute cover that I loved too much.
5/5 stars
Smiling Irish is everything I ever wanted from a New Adult romance.
I love that we get to learn about Irish American culture, it added a depth to the story and I thought that writing parts in Gaelic (sorry irish! New to me!) was so beautifully poetic. Especially as Regnery translated those parts so we knew what was being said. It reminded me of how Kristen and PC Cast included some Cherokee in House of Night. It really adds background and depth and world building.
These are flawed characters, and yes there were occasional cliches, but these characters were also beautiful, brave and incredibly strong, and those cliches? Regnery made those cliches her own, she turned it into something original, sweet and sexy with this innocent tone that made everything so magical.
I loved this. I spent my Saturday afternoon curled up with my puppy dog, completely engrossed in this love story, and I can’t imagine a better way to have spent my Saturday.
5 Star Review Smiling Irish (The Summerhaven Trio #2) by Katy Regnery
This is Tierney Haven and Burr Brian O’Leary’s story and I now have a new book boyfriend. Burr Brian O’Leary (just his name gives me tingles) is an alpha man through and through and oh how I want a Burr in my life.
This was one of those books that grabbed me from the start and never let me go; what a terrific read Smiling Irish was.
Tierney, the only girl in the Summerhaven triplets is a woman who prefers to remain in the background unlike her brothers.
When Burr pounds on her door in the middle of the night, injured and delirious, she knows that he is in trouble and despite her misgivings immediately dives in to help. . What Tierney does not realise is that his appearance will change her life forever.
I fell hard and fast for Burr O’Leary, there was just something about him that ticked all the boxes for me and then some. The chemistry between Tierney and Burr was smoking and the build up and danger had me on the edge of my seat.
As I have come to expect from a book by Katy Regnery, the writing was outstanding, the camaraderie and relationships that Tierney has with her family was realistic and heart warming.
Smiling Irish was a beautifully written, romantic story and all in all this made for a great read that I highly recommend; bring on the final book in The Summerhaven Trio.

I cannot imagine a culture more different from mine than than the Irish culture. I do no know much about the Emerald Isles, the people, the traditions, or their language. In fact, I generally limit my celebration of Ireland to watching John Wayne drag Maureen O’Hara through town and across the Irish countyside in the classic movie, The Quiet Man. I know, in these days days of gender equality, this movie rates pretty poorly for obvious reasons. But it is one of my absolute favorites. I adore the hero and heroine who fight for what’s right, who love each other and their families with their entire beings. These two people protect what is theirs at all costs with unrivaled passion.
I truly believe Katy Regnery has added another layer to my celebration of Irish cultural infleunces with her publishing of the Summmerhaven Trio. I plan to add this series to my list of Series to reread on a yearly basis.
I fell in love with the Haven Triplets when I read Fighting Irish, which is Rory’s story. The way they supported each other in good and troubled times, the sibling rivalries, the fierce protective instincts, and the abiding love they have for each other all make this series attractive to me. With the addition of Tierney’s story the series has been elevated to automatic 1-click status.
Burr O’Leary brings and element of intrigue to the relatively quiet life of Tierney Haven. The dark and dangerous world he has been navigating adds a level of excitement and mystery to this story which captivates. More than this the fierce passion of these two fiesty main characters keeps the story active and interesting. Their interactions with each other , their love and loyalty for those they cherish and the ferocious way they battle for good, had my blood pumping with anticipation.
All of this combined with the sweet heat and steamy moments which Katy Regnery so skillfully weaves into the storyline make it an addicting read. The Irish phrases these characters speak to each other, the subtle suggestions of Irish traditions, and the exquisitely detailed descriptions of New England coalese to make Smiling Irish a unique experience which has me anxious for more. I can only hope these next two months pass quickly so I can finally find out what the enigmatic Ian has in store for us.
Full disclosure: When I finished Fighting Irish, the first book in this fantastic new series, I was ready to skip immediately ahead to Ian’s story (coming soon in Loving Irish). I knew that Tierney’s story would be worth the read, but she hadn’t caught my attention the way that Ian had. So, I went into this knowing that I’d enjoy it, but looking at it as more build-up to the next book.
And then?
And then Ms. Regnery blew me away (as she is wont to do).
Tierney Haven is a force y’all and I can’t remember the last time I had so much crazy love for a heroine.
GAH! This book starts off with a bang, giving us a gritty, action sequence that sucked me in immediately and had me instantly desperate to learn more. Literally from the first page, I was hooked. I couldn’t put it down. And in absolutely no time at all, I was completely smitten with Tierney and Burr and their beautifully-written, masterfully told story.
I mean, BURR you guys. Of all the fantastically complex, instantly lovable heroes. He’s a perfect mix of alpha protective, deeply wounded, and sinfully sexy. I was intrigued by him, beguiled by him, and more than a little besotted with him. But, if I’m being honest? I feel like it was TIERNEY who stole the show for me. I never even saw her coming. From her sweet, gentle, introverted soul, to her spine of pure steel – I completely adored her. I related to her. I felt for her. And these two characters together were pure “slow burn” magic.
As always, Ms. Regnery knocked the romance out of the park – all desperate love and swoony feels that felt so good and kept me smiling through nearly the entire book. I also completely enjoyed getting more time with the Haven siblings – who are adorable together and a pure delight to read. So, yes. I knew I’d enjoy this book, but as it turns out enjoy is an understatement. I loved it – 100%, no reservations, L-O-V-E-D this book.
And now?
Well, now it’s safe to say I am nearly breathless with anticipation for Ian’s book, my heart hungry for more of this divinity.
Smiling Irish is the second book in the Summerhaven Trio series by Katy Regnery. I am loving this series; again another Katy Regnery book that I couldn’t put down.
Tierney Haven and Burr O’Leary story started with a crazy gun carrying man with a bullet wound banging in Tierney’s front door. Burr is running from some bad guys who just shot his sister in front of her daughter. So to protect Tierney he has decided to stay with her and play security to the museum. Can they be together after Burr’s craziness has died down and what will Tierney’s brothers have to say about a stranger living with their sister?
If you’re looking for a sweet, slow-burning love story with some twists and history added in, then this series is for you.
