We are in Colorado; tall mountains, colorful skies and people who care about each other. This is an awesome series and each book is special. There is a “second chances” theme that will make you smile, feel good and then shed tears. You will cry at a wedding. This town has the old-time saloon; police that watch over the citizens; and people are important. Historical legacy is alive in this series and I loved every minute of these books. There are sensual scenes which are well written. This author did an amazing job of making this small town seem big.
I was privileged to previously read and review all three books in this boxset. Each novel is heartwarming, well written, and a standalone.
What If: Opposites attract in this tug-of-war romance. Lucy has worked hard to put her small town on the tourist map, but in doing so she inadvertently attracts the attention of developers who persuade the Blackwood family to sell out. That, in turn, means that Lucy not only loses her business premises but the home she has so lovingly restored and taken care of. John Blackwood is taken aback by Lucy, not only because of his attraction towards her but by her feisty resistance regarding turning her off the property she considers her home. No matter how hard she fights against him, Lucy cannot deny that she wants John every bit as much he obviously wants her. Ultimately, John wins the battle but loses the war and disheartened, Lucy bows out.
Imagine That: In a town seemingly sold out to the highest bidder, Blackwood town is nevertheless home to Blackwood siblings hiding out from their past. Local police officer Kevin Hoisington cannot help himself when it comes to protecting and keeping vulnerable people safe. Maya is one of those people and even though they may appear to be total opposites, Kevin understands her better than she could possibly realise. As their relationship develops Kevin discovers that Maya has enemies and her enemies become his adding suspense to the plot. Although this is a fairly sweet novel there are some steamy scenes but they are tasteful and within the context of the story.
No Regrets: A second chances romance, one that takes a married couple through the process of healing their broken marriage. Even though Clem is hiding out in his family mansion in small-town Blackwood, Kaitlin follows him there using one pretext after another. Both Clem and Kaitlin are hurting and the reasons for their pending divorce leave both of them confused and questioning what went wrong. Despite their wealth they aren’t pretentious, nor do they waste money, but obviously their money has got in the way of things somehow. It takes some wise words from one of the elderly citizens of Blackwood to make them take a second look at themselves and the future they both desire.
These stories are well written with strong characters with a dynamic attraction between the main characters. Some scenes are steamy but are tastefully written. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
