You can’t put the brakes on love… Ronnie Ashford needs a distraction. In the morning, she has to offer arrogant, conventional Jack Crews a job and convince him not to take it. She doesn’t need anyone’s help, thank you very much. But tonight is all about the tall, sexy stranger who just walked in the bar–and all the delicious trouble they could get into together. Too bad just as things are … things are heating up between them, he whispers the three little words that destroy everything: “I’m Jack Crews.”
Jack is determined to connect with fiery Ronnie–in bed and out of it–but her terms are clear. If he takes the job, helping her acquire prized artifacts for her mysterious bosses, anything between them is strictly off-limits. Somehow he has to convince a woman who’s never felt like she belonged that she’s found her place–with him. And with the danger sparking hotter than the fire between them, it’s going to be one unforgettable trip…

A sexy, suspenseful, opposites-attract romance in classic Lori Foster can’t put down style!
This book had me captured from the first scene in the bar when Ronnie has decided to pick up a stranger, until he tells her his name. I couldn’t wait to see how the interactions between Ronnie and Jack would progress throughout the book as they got to know each other more. This book has it all – humor, suspense, family dynamics, and adorable animals. At points in the book, the animals even steal the show. Can’t wait to read Charlotte’s story next.
If it says Lori Foster on the cover, I’m in:) I’m always excited when she has a new book out.
This is the second book in the Road to Love series and I enjoyed it more than the first. It can be read as a standalone. Jack and his brother Brody, who we met in the first book, run Mustang Transport. Ronnie is a feisty woman who comes to town to meet with Jack to discuss an employment opportunity. Truth be told, she really wants no part of working with another person. Arriving early for a morning meeting the following day, Ronnie goes to a bar and decides to find a way to distract herself from her tortured past so that she can get some needed sleep and a reprieve from her pain. Jack is hungry after working and enters the bar to grab a bite. When he catches Ronnie’s eye, the dance begins as the two are like sparking wires looking to connect. The banter/sexual tension is overt and in the next few minutes the two are leaving together. However, plans go awry when another patron inadvertently calls out Jack’s name; effectively putting the brakes on any one night stand that Ronnie had considered. Can they keep things strictly business between them? Throwing in a little mystery, suspense, a scorching romance and Howler the d-o-g, kick back and prepare for the ride that will have you feeling good all over.
I read an advance copy provided by Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
This was another fun and sexy romp through this chemistry driven story. Ronnie acquires antiques for her employer and they have determined she needs to hire Jack Crews as a driver and bodyguard and she is not happy about it and she is just as determined he is not going to take the job. Especially since she has a strict policy to not mix work and pleasure and the night before she is to meet up with her new bodyguard she decides to get out and work off some frustration with the gorgeous man who walked into the bar. She is all set until he leans in and whispers in her ear, “My name is Jack Crews.” The banter between these two kept the pages turning faster than my kindle could keep up at times. This was a smoking read and I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn’t want it to end. There was an element of suspense to keep it cooking! I am really looking forward to Charlotte’s book! Definitely recommend this one along with the first one in this series.
A romance and a mystery. When your boss’s decide you need a little muscle for the job, and he just happens to be everything she could want, she just doesn’t know it yet. Now her new partner will need to show her he has staying power all while trying to figure out why he senses danger. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy and this is my.honest review.
Slow Ride is the second book in the Road to Love series but when the author says it is a standalone, it truly is. I did read book one and “know” some of the characters and I always enjoy that. SR is about Jack Crews, brother to Brodie from book one, and he is just as bada@@, but in a bit different way. Jack is more “refined” and “calm” than Brodie, at least on the surface, but in his own way is just as gorgeous and capable as Brodie. Usually he looks the GQ part but the first time he meets Ronnie Ashford he’s in work clothes and is a mite bit grubby from working on his house. Ronnie doesn’t know he’s Jack Crews, is drooling over him, until he says his name. Annnnnnnnnnnddddd they are off! Instead of a meet-cute, they actually had a meet-hawt/oh-hale-no, imho.
I won’t recap the story because I couldn’t do it justice. It has fast action, mayhem, is sizzling hawt, and I think it is more about Ronnie and Jack and their growing relationship. Ronnie works for twins who collect…let’s call it morbid trivia. She usually handles the retrieval of the objects alone however the brothers insist that she work with a driver, who doubles as a bodyguard, and she is NOT happy about that. They really are such a great couple, and their bickering, and simmering passion is smexy. Ronnie has had a hard life in that she has issues with her family, and has had them since she was very young and on her own. Surprisingly enough, Jack has a few hidden issues to overcome as well, and these two find their “peace” together.
Now, the character I met in book one, who is also in Slow Ride, is Howler, Brodie’s rescue dog. Howler stole my heart in book one and he shines just as much in book two. He helps Ronnie on her personal journey, as he does with all the family. Jack and Ronnie are perfect together, but phew, are they combustible! I really enjoy this series and loved both books. Can’t wait to read more! I received an ARC of #Slow Ride from #NetGalley, and this is my honest review.
The first chapter shows what a character the heroine Ronnie is going to be and definitely gives an idea of the trouble she is going to give the hero Jack. And she most certainly does throughout the book … luckily Jack was a patient man who understood her needs. I love Jack’s family and how they are able to joke around with each other while at the same time have each others back. So glad they won Ronnie over and welcomed her into the family.
Another steamy and suspenseful romance from Lori Foster. Jack and Ronnie’s almost one night stand actually turns into something neither of them suspects. Along with an amazing group of characters that surround Jack and Ronnie, there is a creepy stalker who is obessessed with Ronnie and a series of strange and deadly coincidences make this an addicting read!
Loved this story!
The Road to Love series just gets better with Jack and Ronnie’s story in Lori Foster’s latest, Slow Ride. Ronnie is as independent as the day is long. She has never needed anyone and can not wait to hire and then get rid of Jack as soon as she can! Before carrying out her plan she needs to unwind and runs into the very person she does not know she does not want. Jack is intrigued by Ronnie and refuses to let her shake him.
Once again Lori creates whitty characters who you can’t help but hope fall for each other. Add in a cute rescued kitten named Peanut, and you have a winning combination. I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
Slow Ride is the second book in the Road to Love series. This book is about Jack ( Brodie’s brother). He and Ronnie fall for each other. Their story is full of bumps but it makes the end sweeter. I love the characters and animals. I can’t wait for Charlotte’s story.
I received an ARC from NetGalley, and this is my honest review. #SlowRide #NetGalley
Jack and Ronnie’s story had me glued to the pages. Between the mystery, the laughs and the tears, I was thoroughly invested. Another fabulous read from Lori Foster. Be sure to add Slow Ride and the other books in the Road To Love series to your TBR list!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy.
Rating 4.5 Stars.
I really enjoyed Driven to Distraction, book one in the Road to Love series. I enjoyed Slow Ride even more. Ronnie and Jack are perfect and perfect for each other. Oh, neither is the perfect person but they’re the perfect characters to keep this book interesting from page one to the end. Ronnie is prickly on her good days. Jack is unflappable every day. Or so it appears. And what gives Jack the patience and desire to force his way through the thickest walls a girl can put up? And who’s trying to get to Ronnie?
The characters in this book really make it exceptional including all the supporting ones. Jack’s family is so endearing that Ronnie can’t resist falling for all of them. The twins are the oddest but best employers. North is frightening. All of them give the book a page-turning appeal and a gripping depth.
I always like a good bit of intrigue with my romance and Foster delivers plenty.
Slow Ride is a wonderful story that kept my rapt attention throughout.
Entertaining with a Gripping Mystery…the story of Jack Crews and Ronnie Ashford is witty, sweet, heartbreaking and romantic. Everything that you would come to expect in a book by Lori Foster. I couldn’t put it down.
Jack Crews has a reputation for being the calm brother, the well dressed and polite brother so when Ron/Ronnie Ashford sees Jack in a bar and wants him to make her forget her past. Well the rest is a sexy slow ride from beginning to end.
Ronnie refuses him that night at the bar when she finds out she is the straight-laced man she is suppose to meet the next day. She doesn’t need a partner but her employers want her to hire Jack to help pick up items for their strange and eclectic collection. The brothers are characters themselves but they think of Ronnie as family and want to protect her. She, however, has other ideas and wants to get rid of Jack altogether because she enjoys working alone.
Ronnie is a tiny dynamo who has a sharp tongue and can throw a knife with the best of them. She is small but sexy and in her mind she lacks curves and only does one night stands because she isn’t made for forever relationships. She has a past that has made her who she is today. She hates to show weakness and doesn’t quite know what do to when Jack comes storming into her life.
Jack is sexy as hell and well mannered but when provoked he protects what is his and becomes and alpha male. He knows he has to tread carefully with Ronnie as she is very skittish and will walk out on him if given a chance, he knows this from experience. Ronnie is very honest and he is as well. He wants to protect her when trouble ensues during a pick up for the brothers.
The story is fast paced and sexy. There are humorous moments provided mostly by Howler, Brodie’s dog from “Road to Love, #1. Ronnie loves animals too and recuses a kitten that Howler adopts. These characters are just as prominent in the story as the human ones are. Jack and Ronnie have some things in common but she is very unique and Jack is drawn to her immediately. Ronnie builds walls and Jack will do anything and everything he can to tear them down to make her see herself the way that he sees her.
I really enjoyed this story. Ms. Foster doesn’t disappoint and I can’t wait for the next one. Ms. Foster has a way of drawing the reading in and keeping you glued to the pages.
I received this as an ARC from NetGallery, and this is my honest review.
I really enjoyed Jack and Ronnie’s story The crazy situations that they encountered while collecting oddities for Ronnie’s bosses were interesting and kept me guessing about the identity of the bad guy.
It was fun catching up with the characters from Driven to Distraction, and I’m so glad that we got to see more of Brodie’s dog. I absolutely loved the scenes with Howler!
Slow Ride was a great read! I look forward to reading Charlotte’s story next.
I voluntarily read & reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy from NetGalley.
Jack is pretty polished and always seems to be nice and polite but after he meets Ronnie, his protective side also kicks in. Ronnie has been abandoned, lied to, blamed and hurt by her family so trusting, accepting and getting close to anyone just isn’t part of her life or plan. She’s instantly attracted to Jack the minute she sees him but fights the feelings. They agree to work together and although she doesn’t like Jack’s protectiveness, she comes to appreciate it as well as the man himself. When Ronnie is in danger, Jack goes out of his way to make sure she’s safe and she’s concerned he’ll get hurt. Thank goodness for Jack’s brother Brodie who agrees to provide backup. Great the way Jack’s family accepts Ronnie and works to gain her trust and love. Enjoyed the interactions between the family members. Great book and quick read! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Heart pounding excitement, sweetly sexy, emotionally thrilling and action packed adventure filled with so much passion, drama and dangerous twists….. loved this exciting journey between two exciting, sexy and stubborn charters that were just meant to be. Don’t miss this adventure!
I received an ARC of Slow Ride for my honest review. Lori Foster did it again. She brought us a hero that is everything a woman could want. Jack Crews is tall, sexy, strong and compassionate. Our heroine, Ronnie is beautiful, smart and fearless. Together they are an unstoppable team, once they figure out how to get along, that is. This story will run you through a gauntlet of emotions from laughter to anger (against a jerk that abuses animals) to fear for Ronnie’s safety and then happiness. I would recommend reading this book.
