An emergency dash to Paris, an engagement on hold, and an ex-husband who wants her back… When Maggie learns her daughter is missing following a bomb blast in Paris where she was on assignment, she leaves Frank and flies halfway across the world to help with the search. What else could she do, even though she and Frank were about to announce their engagement to his family? The announcement had to … to announce their engagement to his family?
The announcement had to wait. She couldn’t think about marrying him when Serena was missing, possibly dead.
Frank is distraught when Maggie leaves. He’s even more distraught when he learns that Cliff, her ex-husband, is in Paris with her.
When Cliff tells her he still loves her and that he made a mistake in leaving, she begins to have doubts about marrying Frank.
Was she too hasty in accepting his proposal?
Does she still love Cliff, although he’s an arrogant, selfish so and so?
Maybe. Maybe not. But one thing’s for sure, God loves him, even if she doesn’t.

Having been left with a cliffhanger from the first book in the Sunburned Land Series, Slow Road to Love, I was so looking forward to continuing Maggie and Frank’s story. I was not disappointed in the least with Slow Journey to Joy. It could easily be a stand alone book but to get a richer reading experience I would suggest reading the first book. The characters are strong and vibrant and their emotions and actions are realistically portrayed as they deal with the difficulties of a missing daughter, a controlling ex-husband, sons who don’t get along and a guilt-ridden grandson. The author has deftly threaded throughout the book a firm faith in God and His workings in our lives. I really enjoyed all the tidbits of information about life on the cattle stations of Australia–certainly kept my interest high. The book definitely has a happily ever after ending but there are also some loose ends that seem to need tied up so I am so looking forward to the third book in the series.
I received a complimentary copy of the book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.
I truly enjoyed the storyline and the continuation of the story from the first book, Slow Road to Love. I enjoyed how the characters were developed. It was a very realistic and enjoyable book.
Another really enjoyable story by Juliette Duncan. She takes you on a journey to Paris and rural Australia. The descriptions of the places make you feel like you have been there. She also has a wonderful way of drawing you into the characters lives so that you feel like you know them personally. The story wasn’t predictable at all, in fact in parts I thought it might turn out differently than it did! I highly recommend this book and look for to the next one in the sequel.
A very good book that captures your heart. I really enjoyed this one and was glad I had the chance to read it.
I did receive an advanced copy of the book from the publisher and the review is mine voluntarily.
This series is one of the best that I have read.
The characters are so captivating and likable. So feel so close to them.
The plot is filled with drams, suspense, inspiration, and romance.
I read book one and this one, I love the continuing storyline
I eagerly await the next in the series.
This author is so amazing..
Maggie and Frank’s Love is very deep but they must face some hard situations before getting married. Their faith will help them find their path to happiness for themselves and for the people they love.
A great book in this series, with more of the story coming later!
This book opens with Maggie taking a long flight to Paris, in hopes of finding her daughter alive, after a terrorist attack in her hotel. Frank had to stay behind, but sent messages to her phone, to keep in touch. Her daughter was in a coma when she arrived, so she checked in where she was going to stay, then went back to the hospital. She stays overnight in Serena’s room. She soon realizes this will be a long recovery for Serena, and wonders how much time she will need to stay. David, Serena’s boyfriend, offers to help her, once she is back home, Maggie is relieved, because he’s had more experience with this kind of injury, as a firefighter. Maggie finally returns to Australia, and later returns with Frank to Goddard Down, where they announce their engagement. This is a good book, and I highly recommend it!
This is the second book in Ms. Duncan’s latest series. It’s the story of Maggie and Frank and what they go through in their quest to become a married couple. You get to see a little of the world since it takes place in Paris and also Australia. I love this author’s books. She is so good with detail and her characters really reach out to you. You feel like you know them and hate to leave them when the book is done. I highly recommend this book. It’s filled with faith and Christianity and Bible verses. It’s a wonderful Christian romance. I think anyone would enjoy reading this book, if they like Christian romance. I was given an ARC but this review is strictly my own views.
A sweet and wonderful continuation of Frank and Maggie’s story as they face down some giants and walk through uncertainty. We get to see more of their families and look towards the future. What I thought was the end of their story turned out to just be the second installment! I’m on pins and needles waiting for the next book!
I received an ARC of his book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A fantastic read that read that really pulled the heart strings. It’s a real page Turner, you may need a box of tissues. I love the World building and Character building as well. I was given this read. And I definitely recommend it.

Beautiful story! I loved seeing Maggie and Frank continue putting their trust in the Lord even when things kept getting in their way to be together. If you like clean stories with heart, I highly recommend ‘Slow Journey to Joy. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.
I enjoyed the continuation of Maggie and Frank’s story. They had a few obstacles to overcome, but by turning to God they come out even stronger. Juliette Duncan has once again woven the truth’s of God’s care and faithfulness throughout this story. I received a complimentary copy of this book, but have freely chosen to offer my own thoughts and opinions.
This book is absolutely wonderful! It picks up exactly where Slow Road to Love stopped. It is full of emotions and you can feel every one of them. I recommend you read book one first so you will know exactly what’s going on. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I received an ARC copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own. I highly recommend this book.
I was so looking forward to getting this book after the previous book left us on a cliff hanger. I have to say that it did not disappoint and has now left me eager for the next instalment. I found that I simply couldn’t stop reading as each chapter ended with me wanting to find out what happened next. A beautiful story of a mature couple who find love again. Maggie and Frank’s story touched my heart as did the interwoven stories of their families. I would very much recommend this book as I would any of this author’s high quality work. I received a free copy of this book but this is in no way influenced my review which I believe to be honest and fair.
This is the second book in the series. Maggie fly’s off to Paris because her daughter is missing. There was an explosion and Serena is a reporter. She is found in a stairway with burns on sixty percent of her body. Maggie’s ex-husband Cliff shows up at the hospital. Cliff is self controling and wants Maggie back. She stands up to him but has second thoughts on marring Frank. With prayer she has to decide. David ,Serena exboyfriend comes to the hospital. This story keeps you wanting more. I was given an ARC and I highly recommend reading this.
Australian middleagers Frank and Maggie are keeping their engagement a secret when Maggie learns her daughter has been injured in a terrorist attack in Paris! Besides being concerned about her daughter’s mental and physical condition, Maggie wonders how her and Frank’s children will take the news of their upcoming marriage! How can she move away when her daughter may need her? You will enjoy Slow Journey to Joy as Frank and Maggie consider their children and grandchildren as they prepare to join their lives! I recommend this older life romance to others. I received a complimentary e-book from the publisher. This is my honest opinion.
I really enjoyed reading this book! Both the guy and the lady are older and have lost their mates, him from death and her from divorce. I recommend this book to all who like to read romance books!
Juliette Duncan’s book Slow Journey To Joy:
This amazing story will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. I couldn’t stop reading it. Maggie is a wonderful person who finds a amazing man who loves her and treats her great. Frank is a great man who loves his family and his job. Watching Frank and Maggie prepare to get married is truly inspirational. When Maggie rushes to Serena after her accident, Maggie isn’t sure what to do with her plans. I had the honor review this book for the author for a honest review. Juliette Duncan is a amazing Christian author. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.
This is the continuation of Slow Road to Love by the same author. Many changes ave happened at the end of the first book that are continued in this book. Both Frank and Maggie ace difficult decisions that could face their future. Both of them lean on their Savior and see amazing things happen. Can’t wait for book 3. I was given a complimentary copy of this book and the thoughts in this review are my own.
