I put out fires for a living.I can take some heat. But Maisie drives me crazy. She’s smart-mouthed, sarcastic and argumentative. This town’s too small for both of us.But she works for me. Unfortunately. It’s a big no-no for me to f*ck her.Every time I lay eyes on her, I want to throw her over my shoulder and find the closest place to get my hands all over her curvy body. Her eyes flash, her sweet a** … I want to throw her over my shoulder and find the closest place to get my hands all over her curvy body.
Her eyes flash, her sweet a** swings, and her smart mouth makes my c*ck so hard it aches.
There are different kinds of fire, and this one will make her panties melt.
There’s only one problem: this fire might be too hot for both of us.
*This is a steamy, full-length standalone romance with a guaranteed happily-ever-after. No cliffhangers. Nothing but steamy romance & HEA!

Absolutely loved this book and author! Had to purchase more of the series! I’m a fan.
Wow! What a great read! I loved it! Great characters, very realistic, just enough tension and romance to keep you turning the pages!
Alaskan love story with some heat.
This is a great story loved learning about Alaska
Can be read as a stand alone.
I bought the whole series! I’m enjoying this author.
Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
Love J.H. Croix, her stories and descriptions of people and life in Alaska never fail to disappoint!
Loved the main characters and their connection to the people in their community.
I love all her books, they make me want to visit Alaska, just great stories that pull you in
I liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and relatable. Beck is a firefighter and Maisie works the emergency call center desk. She drives Beck crazy. I liked how supportive Beck was when Maisie’s dad showed up. This is a great story. I recommend giving it a read!
I really enjoy this authors books.
I really loved this book, which is surprising, seeing as it is another double perspective-type book, with alternating views every chapter. The characters were well-developed and lovable. I enjoyed the entire read and wouldn’t complain about a thing.
Another great one by J.J. Croix!
I loved this story! The chemistry between these two characters was intense!
After reading “Burn For Me” I had hoped Beck and Maisie would get their story so I was really happy to read “Slow Burn”. Beck is a hotshot firefighter and Maisie is the firehouse dispatcher. Beck is usually an easy-going guy, but Maisie pushes his buttons. Beck pushes right back until the night he finds Maisie naked in the showers. After that, he can’t stop thinking about her and when they end up back in the firehouse, alone one night, sparks fly. Beck figures if he can get one night with her that his lust will be extinguished, but Maisie doesn’t want to be another notch on the playboy’s bedpost.
Read the book to find out what happens with Beck and Maisie, you won’t be disappointed. There are some funny parts in the story and I have to give a shout out to Herman the cat.
SLOW BURN is a standalone read with a HEA. Set in Alaska it is a HOT, SEXY, STEAMY romance. Lots of sex and bedroom talk so if that is an issue you might want to pass on this one. Beck is a sexy, gorgeous hotshot firefighter – see cover for a good mental image! YUMMY. He is not a relationship kind of guy, more like the flavor of the week-end.
He has been driving Maisie, the 911 operator at the station crazy for the past 2 years. It seems he works at setting her off. She has had the hots for him for the longest time but knowing his reputation she avoids him. One day he catches her in the shower and his visual is better than he imagined. He sets out to win her over. In the process he is the one that winds up won.
The story has some drama as Maisie’s deadbeat dad shows up in town wanting money. She has to decide if she wants to open up and allow others to help her or still try to do everything on her own. It is a good love story. Set in Alaska there are lots of descriptions of the surrounding landscape, mountains, etc. It is an interesting, entertaining read and I definitely recommend it.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 9/13/18
Slow Burn is an entertaining contemporary romance by J.H. Croix. Ms. Croix has delivered a book that is well-written (even though it’s in the hated first person, alternating point of view) and loaded with fantastic characters. Maisie inherits her grandmother’s home and job as a dispatcher for Willow Brook’s Fire & Rescue. Beck accidentally walks in on Maisie when she’s showering at the station. Maisie and Beck’s story is loaded with drama, smokin’ hot sex, humor and a little suspense. I enjoyed reading Slow Burn and look forward to reading more from J.H. Croix in the future. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Loved this 2nd book in this series. Beck and Maizie, who would have thought? They make such a great couple. This story was a fun and easy read with plenty of sizzle! I would definitely recommend this series by J. H. Croix to everyone.
** spoiler alert ** Maisie is used to relying only on herself. Beck is known as a flirt and playboy. For two years these two play a battle of wills. Will Maisie be able to let her walls down? Will Beck be ready to settle down?
These two were adorable. I love how protective Beck is and how despite her walls, he was determined to help her. I didn’t blame Maisie for her independent attitude after her upbringing, but was proud of her for finally letting people in. Great book!
Slow Burn the second book in the “Into The Fire” Series. J H Croix is burning up kindles these days stories so spicy hot they make you melt among other things.
Maisie and Beck come together when something that should be hot is not. Maisie the sassy extremely independent Fire Station 911 Dispatcher is forced to shower at the station when her water heater stops working. Beck with his Hotter then Hot Fire Fighter Rescue self heads for the shower after returning from a call catches Maisie only wearing bubbles plenty of steam builds between the both of them. Beck is kind enough to fix Maisie’s water heater then things start to really heat up. Their chemistry is off the rector scale “Hot, Sexy and Steamy!
Maisie has been raised by an irresponsible Father after losing her Mother at a young age she hasn’t seen or spoke to him in a couple of years, when he finds out she has inherited everything her Grandmother owned. He appears at her door needing a hand out, Beck steps up to help her Dad with his money problems and right on back out of town. I think I love Beck…
Absolutely wonderful characters come to life you’ll easily find yourself in Willow Brook, Alaska living each minute as you go along. Never a disappointment when you read JH Croix each book is like meeting new friends. I can never wait to meet the next new characters Lucy and Levi are sure to Burn just as Hot in “Burn So Bad” book three.
I received a free copy of Slow Burn and voluntarily chose to review it… What a pleasure it was. Check out The Last Frontier, Diamond Creek, The Brit Boys there is also a Shifter Series. More, More, More. You’ll love them as much as I do.
Uh I hate books like this. 98% of the time they spend together it’s burning up the sheets. They hide it from everyone, so they ignore each other in public. And we’re supposed to think they sure in love? Not hardly. More substance, less erotica (not saying none), and it would be so much better.
