If you havent read the LOST KING series yet bc you dont like MC Romance etc etc… i suggest you start TODAY!
Autumn totally knocked it out the park with this sexy and enthralling series with some of the most sexiest alphas ever, they are all kickass tough & no-nonsense, but when it comes to their women… its all romance baby!
This is the ONLY series I have excitingly anticipated each characters own story! Considering the 8th book in the series will be releasing soon, I think thats a pretty good indication of not only how hot the LOST KINGS are, but how well AJL can capture her readers attention
5 star brilliant!
What a great start to the series!! I’ve been jonesing for something to fill the void Sons of Anarchy left when it went off the air and Slow Burn is just what I needed!! I have to admit I had Charlie Hunnam (Jax) in my mind when I met Rock (my new BBF)!! I love how Rock treats Hope (for the most part) and how bad he wanted her but respectful of her being married. I love that the MC isn’t blood thirsty and ruthless, and love that I know where the book is loosely based at and one of the characters is nicknamed Teller (SOA reference I’m figuring). I became invested in the story and I am so glad I bought the first three books in the series all at once so I don’t have to waste one second finding the next book!! I highly recommend this book and I am “all in” for book 2!!
Great read and a new to me author!! And now I realise I am soooooo behind!!! Lol!! I just saw the suggested reading order, so I need to up my game!!
But seriously, what a great read and I can’t believe I have got to now and not read anything by this author before.
I was intrigued from the first page and I know this is not the end of Rock and Hope’s story but what a start!! It wasn’t an easy start and I am sure its going to get harder for them but they have both stolen my heart!
Now I have a shit ton to catch up on!! Challenge accepted!
I love Autumn Jones Lake and the Lost Kings MC! Rocklan “Rock” North is the President “Prez” of the Lost Kings MC. He first meets Hope Kendall when she is forced to represent him on a minor possession charge. She’s a good women… a married women and she is a good wife. Is she attracted to Rock? Of course but she would never act upon it! Rock is obsessed with her, wants her but knows he can’t have her. When an unfortunate devastating tragedy hits she is thrown into a long depression. Rock knows he has to be careful with the way he goes about it but he will try with everything he has to have her by his side.
Edit:
This book was an AMAZING start to this series! I’m so excited to go on this journey all over again and read some of the more recent books I haven’t read yet.
Zachary is a cheeky Dom that works hard to get Makenna but she’s a sassy sub that doesn’t take crap. Really enjoyed this quick story. Sierra Cartwright write amazing BDSM
OMG! I loved this wonderful entertaining MC plot! Finally he meets the woman of his dreams! She is so out of his lead, a lawyer who is innocent and happily married to boot! He wants her, he can’t have her, he won’t let her go, then he has too! Fortunately he is around to pick up the pieces when tragedy strikes! Is it too little to late? Can she fit into his world? Does she even want too? ReD and see as the plot unfolds!
Great book and genre don’t miss it!
Autumn Jones Lake is a new author for me. I really enjoyed Slow Burn which is book one of the Lost Kings MC Series. Hope is a married lawyer, while Rock is a criminal biker with a heart. Some obstacles are to be expected here.
I don’t generally read books where the story flows from book to book as a continuation. I think I just found the exception to that rule. This story drew me in and captured my interest, making me want to discover what happens next. It’s also filled with intriguing characters that I can’t wait to learn more about. I experienced several LOL moments with the “buddy banter” in this one.
It’s a refreshing change to read an MC story minus the gruesome details. As we know, bad things tend to happen in the MC world. The author does a wonderful job of letting you know exactly what happens, without all the usual bloody descriptions associated with these types of scenes. The squeamish in me can’t thank her enough!
I highly recommend this to any and all contemporary mc romance lovers out there. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
Excellent book and wonderful characters. This whole series is amazing and I hope it never ends.
I was in the mood for a new MC series to read. This series has been on my TBR list for quite some time. Autumn Jones Lake does a phenomenal job of reeling you in and making you crave all the stories that go with every single one of these characters. I am hooked!!
Every MC has officers and of course the most important one is the president. Rochlan takes his job as president very seriously. It’s his job to watch over and protect every single member of the club, including their loved ones. He meets the very feisty lawyer Hope at the courthouse one day. He’s immediately attracted to her, only problem is she’s married. As his interest grows he struggles with balancing his love for the club and the love for a woman he’s not supposed to have.
Rochlan and Hope have a rocky start to their relationship. I couldn’t help but be in awe of how protective Rock is of her. He wants her in his world, but he doesn’t want the bad of his world to touch her. It’s an angsty love story and I was completely wrapped up in their lives. As soon as I finished this book I dove right into book 2. This is a long series and I can’t help but be filled with great anticipation for what’s to come.
Okay, up-front disclaimer – the world of motorcycle clubs holds no interest for me but I downloaded this book because it was for free and I needed something to read.
That said, Lake’s writing talent for creating believable characters and situations (and let’s be honest here, this is a highly romanticized version of a motorcycle club, as this kind of respect for women and their opinions isn’t real) makes you believe in the story. Her take of starting off with Rock discussing love at first sight is a refreshing way to start off a book like this and made me instantly like Rock. Lake has created an entire club world full of fully fleshed-out characters that leave them feeling like friends when you finish. The dialogue is down-to-earth and engaging. I don’t think there’s a single 3-minute-read scene in this book so make time to spend with these characters. I LOVE a talented writer who can make me like a topic I am hesitant to read about!
So it wasn’t until I read book 2 that I really appreciated this book, so I have come back and reedited my review.
Rock Hot hot hot Mc President of The Lost King’s MC
I love it when I discover a new MC Series that I am drawn too. Especially when the series starts with the President, as usually the MC Series I have read, the President’s story comes further into the series.
Hope and Rock two totally different people and one available as Hope is married and happily so, and after a single off the chance kiss that Rock throws at her, Rock has a respect for a woman who is not prepared to break her marriage vows to, and also one on the right side of the law when he is definitely on the wrong side.
So begins his fascination and infatuation with a woman he thinks he will never ever have the chance to know.
until tragedy happens into Hope’s life.
We see after staying away from Hope, Rock returns to support Hope even knowing that she is not in the right place.
The real appeal of this book to me was rock and his “character” as a man and even though he is this tough MC Biker, there is a man who wants to Love and be loved by a woman he thought he never would have the chance to have done in the past.
Amazing side characters that I cant wait to read about and my only complaint is that its not in KU (oh well my bad)and at least i get a permanent book on my kindle 🙂
Read Slow Burn and fall into a fantasic world of gentlemen bikers, real romance, and the action of a motorcycle club. Unique charaters with true love stories will pull you into a fantastic series.
I had seen Autumn Jones Lake’s name on Facebook when a friend shared one of her free e-books. I had no information about this book other than my friend enjoyed it. Since I love MC Romance I decided to give the book a chance. I really enjoyed Hope and Rock’s story. The storyline is well developed and thought out. A time or two I was frustrated with Rock and really wanted to give him a good shake. This is a fun, sexy, easy, enjoyable read. I look forward to the next book in this series.
This book messed with so many of my emotions. I liked Rock and then I didn’t like Rock. The storyline broke my heart and lifted my heart at the same time. I l worried about the cheating aspect but it was handled well. The only thing I didn’t like was Rock being with other women at the start but I understand how it fit. Good book.
Hope meets Rock while in court. She is there to defend a client; he is there to defend a drug charge. Rock’s attorney is late and since Hope looks delicious in her suit he asks the bailiff to get her to represent him. Although shocked and scared she agrees. While she is drawn to Rock just as much as he is drawn to her there is one pesky problem – her husband. They start a professional relationship where she helps out other club members with the legal issues until her safety is threatened. So Rock breaks off all communication for about two years until tragedy occurs and he realizes he can’t stay away any longer.
I found AJL with her Hollywood Demons trilogy that I absolutely am addicted to, so I decided that I needed to read her backlog. So when I blindly started this book I was a bit disappointed that it had two of my least favorite tropes – love triangle and deceased spouse/significant other. But despite that I still really loved this book. Rock is pretty amazing and swoony. I loved how he changed for the better once he decided that he couldn’t live without Hope. Loved that he didn’t give up on her and knew just how to read her and give her the confidence that she needed. Hope was also pretty amazing in her own right. I loved her sass, loved how she wasn’t afraid of Rock even though he was a rough and tough MC prez. One of the things that I struggle with in books with a deceased SO is that they are always waffling with the guilt but in this one I thought it was done perfectly. I know I am a jerk face because I don’t want to read about their guilt but that is why I usually avoid this trope if I can. But in this book Hope was able to be present and be with Rock and there were very few instances when her guilt would arise but it wasn’t overwhelming or over the top for me.
I love Rock and Hope and the juxtaposition of him being an outlaw and her being a lawyer. I love their connection and cannot wait to see how their story further plays out.
I purchased this book via Amazon and am leaving my review voluntarily. This is a nicer MC story. This is not a standalone, it’s part of a series and ends on a cliffhanger.
Triggers: some violence, talk of murder
**spoilers**
Nice MC read with a small amount of violence, drugs, talk of murder and some sexy time.
Rock, President of the Lost Kings is in jail and when his attorney doesn’t show up, Hope is asked to step in.
Instant attraction but Hope is married.
Things happen, a year passes and when Rock sees Hope again, the attraction is still there. Rock decides he will wait for Hope. Another year goes by and they finally start seeing one another. Lots of sexy time. This is a cliffhanger, so read book 2.
Side characters are interesting and the author is giving them stories as well.
I’m not sure why I have never left a review for this book. This is the book that introduced me to Mrs. Autumn Jones Lake. I have read and re-read this series several times. I absolutely love this book. Rock and Hope are opposites, but their chemistry is undeniable. I loved that Rock waited for Hope, his patience, tenderness, and possessiveness is beautiful. I know possessives does not sound like something that would be beautiful but the way he protected Hope even when she did not know that is what he was doing was sweet. I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series, you will not be disappointed.
Book 1 in the long running series will seriously get you hooked. Autumn Jones Lake is a serious queen when it comes to putting the pen to paper. Rock and Hope are the literal king and queen. This book does not feel rushed at all. It takes place over a long time to make their relationship so much more believable. Once you read this you are going to be hooked like the rest of us
A beautifully Dark, Emotionally Stormy, and Heart Tugging World… I am fairly new to the MC sub-genre, having only read my first one this past summer, and only a handful read in total since. However, I have a penchant for dark and broody, fight club-esque alphas, something MC bad boys certainly fit albeit with some extra broken and growly bits thrown in that make my heart sputter a bit harder. I have fallen in love with the violent harshness many the MC stories portray and they are quickly becoming some of my favorite books to read – what can I say – it’s the viking in me. And this one, I can honestly say, has been the most interesting one yet.
“Slow Burn” by, Autumn Jones Lake is different from other MC books I’ve read and aptly matches its title by taking its time. Most MC’s are fast-paced, in your face, stories that focus on the trope stereotypes of possessive, obsessive insta-love, and the “mine, mine, mine” aspect similar to that of their paranormal “shifter” counterparts. But Lake refreshingly doesn’t rely on that. In fact, not only does she not rely on it, she bends it and expands it into something beautiful, almost haunting, and far beyond anything I could have imagined.
Her character development is stunning. She painstakingly builds Hope, Rochlan, Wrath, Sophie, etc., layer, by layer, by layer creating deeply complex protagonists and secondary players. She creates Hope as a female lead who is intelligent, independent, and strong in her own right. Someone beyond the mere “damsel in distress” in need of protection from the big, bad biker. Instead opting for realism, a woman with real life issues, going through real life hardships, easily relatable to anyone reading it.
And with MC Pres., Rochlan, she takes the time to actually humanize him, creating a flawed man instead of a mere mythical biker. She affords him emotional intelligence, and bravely allows him tenderness and sincerity. And most importantly, she allows him patience and insight that sometimes in life what’s needed is time and not just violent action.
With this first installment of her, Lost Kings MC series, Park creates an MC universe far richer than anything I’ve read thus far. And it is wonderful, so wonderful in fact that I’ve put aside all my other reading for now with the intention of reading the other fifteen installments of this series straight through.
It’s a beautifully dark, stormy, violent, and heart tugging world, and one I look forward to getting lost in 🙂
