Review:
I was super excited to read this book. I absolutly loved Becket and Haddie in the other books and I really wanted to know how their story was going to pan out.
This book left me with so many emotions. It was many things and one that really stands out is frustrating. Haddie frustrated me so much. She seemed so different from the girl I thought I knew from the other books. It really showed me how well some people can hold up a mask.
What is this book about:
This book follows the story of Becket and Haddie. For those of you that haven’t read the driven series. Technically you can read this book without having too but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Anyhow Becket is Colton Donovan’s best friend and Haddie is Rylee’s best friend. Colton and Rylee are the main characters in Driven, Fueled, Raced and Aced.
Haddie suffered a personal loss, her sister has passed a way from cancer. She is trying everything she knows how to do to survive that loss but it’s not working. The one thing that could really help her is what she is to scared to accept, Becket.
After sharing a night together, Becket wants to explore what’s between them. That click he felt. He is willing to wait but for how long?
What did I like about this book:
I loved seeing the crew again. Snippets from Colton and Rylee. I can tell that this book is technically set before Aced because Rylee and Colton just got married.
This book is supposte to be a standalone, that you can read it without having read the other books but I suppose you can but I feel like it would work better if you read them first. I feel like it would be important to read the driven books first because Rylee and Colton don’t get much of an introduction and we don’t get to much back story of Haddie and Becket. We get enough but lots got left out.
But there where also enough things that I missed in the other series that threw me off guard in this one. A mistake Kristy admitted too is that she forgot that Haddie told Rylee that she had a brother and that brother never made an appearance. In this book we get told that Haddie only had one sister and that that sister had died.
Overall I enjoyed this book, its a very good book. It made me feel allot. It made me feel invested.
I wished we got a bit more after that ending. A extra chapter to show how they where doing. Maybe we will in the future.

I finished this today.
This story ripped my heart in two at times, but then the next moment it healed your heart, sigh, Becks is utter sweetness!
Where Colton and Rylee were both FIRE coming together and making a bigger fire Haddie and Becks were fire and ice -balancing each other perfectly!!
The epilogue is scary and so beautiful too!
Tears start brimming and Kristy brings their love full circle.
Ahhhhh
Becks and Hadie’s story was so good. I cried, I laughed and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.
This was an exceptional romance that had me captivated from the moment I pressed play. I love emotionally charged books and this series is one of the best I’ve read in a while. I felt all of Haddie & Becks emotions; the happiness, the loss, the heartache, the fear and excitement, the longing and their love for each other. You won’t find this sexy story lacking! Bromberg dives deep into the topic of breast cancer and the overwhelming devastation that families go through. Slow Burn will definitely pull on your heart strings and not let go until the very end. This is a MUST READ!! Kelly Ashton & Abel Cantwell do an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality.
Love Beck & Haddie!!!!!
In Driven we got introduced to Haddie Montgomery and Beckett “Becks” Daniel. They are the best friends of Rylee & Colton. After reading Driven I really wanted a book for Haddie and Becks and with Slow Burn we finally got it! Slow Burn is book number 5 in the Driven Series. You can read it as a standalone, but since it’s a book in the Driven Series I would recommend to read those books before because we get to introduced and to know those two.
Haddies best friend Rylee gets married and she lost her sister not long ago so she feels very lonely. So she goes to Becks for a one-night-stand to forget everything for one night. They both know that one night wasn’t enough and want more from each other, but Haddie is really guarted and tries to forget about him, but for Becks, she is all he can think about and tries everything to break down the walls Haddie built around her to protect herself. If you haven’t loved Haddie & Becks before you definitely will after reading this book.
The story is written in dual POV and I love those kind of books. The book gave me so much feelings … it was really emotional which I didn’t expected at all and I loved it so much! I am so glad that Kristy wrote a book for those two and loved that we also got a little bit of Rylee & Colton.
Wow!!! I cannot believe I waited so long to read this book; what a phenomenal story!! My emotions and heart were torn to pieces while reading, but the author did a fabulous job piecing everything back together. So many great things to say about the characters and the story; I cannot even begin to list everything I loved about Becks and Haddie.
100% A MUST READ!!!!
Haddie is Rylee’s best friend from the Driven series. Becks is Colton’s best friend also. They get together at Rylee’s and Colton’s wedding. Their story begins
there. I loved this book it shows how love takes on many different ways of
changing a person. You will love this book.
I really did like this book, I get where Haddie is coming from it just seemed that Haddie’s issues and thoughts with Beck was getting a tad redundant in a novel, other then that I always loved Haddie and Beck from the beginning of the Drive series and glad they found their HEA with each other.
We waited a while for this one to come out and it was well worth the wait. This follows up one of my favourite series and of course I was happy that Colton and Rylee returned in this one too. Loved Haddie and Becks before but this just tops it. Can’t imagine how it felt for Haddie in this story but I was on the verge of tears reading her story and to see Becks at her side, I want a Becks for myself 😉 Although sometimes I didn’t like the book at times, can’t explain it, I really enjoyed this sweet romance with all ups and downs life throws at you. Can’t wait for the next one to come out but in all honesty, Colton and Rylee are my first loves..
Well I was really looking forward to diving into this book! I adored both Haddie Montgomery and Beckett (Becks) Daniels in the Driven series. So I couldn’t wait to see what these two characters were going to be like together, and the dry wit humour I was going to be reading.
Throughout the book we have a lot of to and fro on the will they won’t they front, mainly because of Haddie, and although her fears and reasoning is explained at the same time you want to smack her around the head a few times. The story is from dual POV’s and is filled with wit, humour, friendship, sexual chemistry, sadness, with gut wrenching moments that make you hold your breath forgetting to take another, tears in your eyes right alongside Haddie and yet screaming at her saying “WHAT ARE YOU DOING WOMAN!” One element to the story changes it all just when she decides to take that chance with Becks, her world comes crashing down and she closes herself off to almost everyone and everything. Rylee and Colton come the rescue and the emotional roller-coaster continues until the very end!
I am really glad Kristy gave Beck’s and Haddie their story, it was an unexpectedly emotional one that kinda blind sided me from what my preconceived notions expected but I bloody loved it!
I loved Becks & Haddie’s story!!! From their first hook up at Rylee and Colton’s wedding all the way through the epilogue. They burn up the pages and Slow Burn is definitely the perfect title for these two. My heart ached for both of them. For what Haddie has gone through and for Beck and his confusion over the way she treated him. A great addition to the Driven series.
5 click clank stars!! Oh my what an awesome book. Personally for me, I had to go into this with fresh eyes. It’s so easy to compare this book with her last 3, but you can’t. Becks is not a broken alpha and I love that he’s not. Boy did this book start off with a bang and I mean bow-chicka-wow-wow bang. So hear I am all, this get this party started!Whoo hoo! But then bam, real life crap happens. Haddie to me was a tad bit frustrating at times, she did a lot of push and pull with Becks. I wanted her to snap outta it but you know what, I get where she’s coming from. That’s a lot of heartache she’s carrying around. Bless Becks heart for hanging on, cause he knew she’d be worth it. I had big lovies for the writing and I thought the ending was perfect and amazing. This book just made me feel all happy and girly on the inside.
Not gonna lie. This wasn’t my favorite book ever. I loved Becks and the patience he has working with Haddie. And omg the premise with which this story is based around tore my heart out. But for some reason getting to know Haddie rubbed me the wrong way. In the end I ended up admiring her and amazed at how strong of a character she was but for the first half or more of the book I just couldn’t care much for her.
Oh how I loved this book! What a great story! What can I say it had humor, emotion and all the necessary elements to make it just a wonderful read. I definitely recommend this book.
