I don’t give a fuck. Not about money or fame, beauty or power. I’ve had all those things since birth, and trust me, they’re a fucking snooze. I don’t give a fuck about anyone, not even myself. Until my father proves evil can exist in the most holy of places. For the first time ever, something like interest stirs in my soul.He wants me to enroll at St. Augustine. Join The Elite. Court the virginal … Elite.
Court the virginal daughter of Archbishop Savoie.
Prove that I’m worth the family name?
I’ll do it all.
And I’ll do it so well, no one will know what’s coming.
People are so quick to underestimate the wicked and lazy.
They forget idle hands are the best tools for the devil’s work.
I am Rush Dempsey.
I am Sloth.

From the beginning of the Elite Seven series Rush Dempsey has been a bit elusive and mysteriously lurking in the shadows. He’s definitely kept me intrigued as I eagerly awaited his story and Sloth was definitely worth the wait.
Up until now “Sloth” has been a bit of an enigma but once I dove into his story the suspense, tension, secrets and steam pouring from it had me hooked. Rush was the angry, dirty-talking, and loyal bad boy I couldn’t help but love and root for. Isabelle was so much more than a quiet and soft spoken church mouse. I enjoyed how they balanced each other out and the flames these two ignited when they were together were off the charts.
With each new sin secrets were revealed and pieces slowly fell into place for the Elite and the plot thickened leaving me teetering on the edge of my chair waiting to see what’s next. I can’t wait to see what’s next with Greed and the amazing conclusion to this thrilling and captivating series!
This gripping book was a very intense. It is the sixth book in this series. I feel that you can read this as a standalone book, as long as you understand that there is a over arcing plot that unfolds throughout the series, many characters that reappear in each book and many events that are referenced from previous books in the series. All that being said, I had not read any additional books from the series and I really enjoyed this one. Yes, it did make me want to read the other books but I never felt lost or cheated by not having done so. This book focuses on Rush (Sloth) and Isabelle. I loved these two. I was so happy that they found each other. They made each other better. Sweet and hot, they were a very swoon worthy couple. Their story has lots of heat, suspense, drama, raw emotion and shocking twists. This is a dark read so it does have content that some will not like or could be triggers for others. So if you are in doubt, you might want to skip this one. Myself, I enjoyed it immensely.
Oh my goodness! This book was so good. It was like a rollercoaster in the dark you don’t know which way it’s going to turn. I Rush! His father thought he was worthless, but his mother’s love pushed him in a way that would change everything. I also loved his little church mouse. She surprised me most. Just her faith and how she bloomed because of Rush! I love this series! I can’t wait to read the next book.
Sloth by Giana Darling, book #6 in the Elite Seven Series. This series must be read in order to keep up with the stories. I literally just finished this book and I am still sitting here with my jaw dropped open! I have a couple of favorite guys from this series so far and the glimpses of Sloth throughout the stories have left me the most intrigued about him.
On the outside, it looks like Rush cares very little about anything really, but yet, whenever his brothers needed someone he seemed to always be around which made him a bit of an enigma. Giana Darling did a fabulous job of telling Rush’s story and I loved that she did a little glossary of the who’s who in the series, that was a great idea! Told in dual POV.
This is Sloth’s story.
“The Elite. Please, Cher, stay away from them.” were the last words Rush Dempsey ever heard his mother speak, as she was sinking in Lake Pontchartrain. Rush is convinced there is more to the story and that the Elite is behind her mysterious suicide. So for the last year, unlike his sin name, he has worked hard and done whatever he needed to do to get into the Elite so that he can enact his revenge against them.
Rush Dempsey, the sexy sinful bad boy, the black sheep son of the Senator of Louisiana. Rush has an “I don’t give a fuck about the world” type attitude and to the outside world, he fully embraces his sin. But what the world doesn’t see is that he’s the furthest thing from lazy as one could get and he will do anything to end the Elite, including his given task.
“Idle hands do the devils best work. Your task is to desecrate St. Augustine’s Church. An excess of faith in the wrong thing is sinful. We aim to teach Archbishop Savoie the perils of being too willful. Take his pious daughter and ruin her.”
Isabelle Savoie, daughter of Elijah Savoie, the Archbishop of New Orleans. Isabelle has followed her father’s strict guidelines for what a “good Catholic girl” is without question. But when her father wants her to be used by his buddies in the Elite to help them gain political power, she decides enough is enough. So when Rush comes and provides her with an out, she grabs on with both hands!
“There was so much goodness in her heart it shone through her eyes and bathed me like noon sunshine.”
Sloth quickly discovers that there’s much more to Isabelle and she isn’t just the little Church mouse that he thought she was and he plans on worshipping at her alter for a long time to come.
“I found you and I’m keeping you. I found you and I took you, knowing that I’d be dragging you into my hellish world and also knowing that I’d protect you from it at all fucking costs.”
Watching the brothers and their women all come together and make their own “family” that was pretty awesome, I feel like we see a whole new togetherness out of all of them then we have in the prior books.
“If they’re the Seven Deadly Sins then we’re the Holy Virtues. Their perfect matches.”
That ending, HOLY SHIT! Seriously, that was… I can’t even! Blown away, literally! Fantastic fucking job! I honest to God did not expect that AT ALL! Let’s just say there are TWO very, VERY big surprises and you’ll have to read Sloth to find them out!
I absolutely loved Rush and Isabelle together, like seriously #couplegoals! They both give each other exactly what the other needs. Rush lets Isabelle become the woman she was meant to be instead of the person she’s been told she needs to be. Isabelle understands Rush, and when he leans too far into the darkness, she’s there to bring him back to the light.
“He was a gorgeous sinner, a siren of fault and virtue who sang to something inside my heart that yearned for duality. He wasn’t all bad and I wasn’t all good. We could be both, maybe even together.”
Ahhh there is soo much that I want to say about this story, especially the end but I just can’t without giving too much away Read it you guys, seriously!
Giana is a new-to-me author but after the amazing addition, she brought to this series I will definitely be checking out more of her work! She has executed the perfect mix of the dark Elite’s story, while still giving us an amazing romance. Perfect!
We have one more book to go and plenty of secrets to still be exposed, with that cliffhanger, I have a feeling that the conclusion of The Elite Series, Greed is going to be absolutely EPIC!
“I had found that something, against all odds, at St. Augustine with a sinner and a group of broken saints.”
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.
I did a bit of research about how people view sloth as a deadly sin, and from what I found, sloth is the most difficult sin to define and to credit as a sin because of the array of connotative meanings that could be used to describe its various mental, spiritual, pathological and physical states. The term’s ambivalence is beyond intriguing because it’s completely on point when it comes to Rush Dempsey.
As much as Rush appears to not care about his place in the Elite, or the issues that his fellow Elite brothers have dealt with in their own stories/challenges, he’s never far from them and he definitely has more of an agenda and an interest in the society he was forced to become a part of regardless of how disinterested he appears to be. Giana Darling allows readers to truly understand who Rush is; there’s a dichotomy to Rush that Darling meticulously illustrates, and through the insights we receive, the guy who always remained on the outskirts, more as an observer than anything else, is so much more than anyone would think he is, and it’s the revelations of who he is and what part he’s playing in everything that helped things to fall into place. With Rush becoming the dark alpha hero of Sloth, readers learn what he’s been up to while all of his brothers deal with their own shit, and when we garner a better understanding of who he is and what he stands for, things get even more interesting because, especially when it comes to what he’s been tasked to do and to whom he’s supposed to dirty up in any and all ways possible.
Just like Rush is not who he seems to be to the public eye, Isabelle Savoie is not the pure and innocent young women she’s portrayed as, as the daughter of Archbishop Savoie, and that fact makes a lot of sense given what goes on in what’s supposed to be a house of God. In a way, Rush is responsible for stripping Isabelle of the virtuous mask she wears, and with the shedding of that facade, she becomes the passionate and strong woman she’s always meant to be, which makes her Rush’s perfect partner, even if they have quite opposite personalities.
The fact that Isabelle finds comfort in Rush’s darkness surprised me, but then again, if she’s anything like him, who she pretends/portrays herself to be is not who she is at her core, but it’s up to her to reveal who she truly is and what makes her able to endure the hellish events of her past and her present until Rush became her darkened savior.
The world of the Elite continues to leave readers with more questions than answers, which means that heading into the final book, there’s still a significant amount of information to dispense, and I hope that by the time everything is revealed, that it’s clear why these seven alpha males took on their roles and exactly how they plan to use their newfound position of power. The dismantling of this corrupt society started in book one and it’s slowly become a beast of its own accord, and while all of the new recruits are taking it upon themselves to expose the reprehensible acts and misdeeds of this society, where it leaves them in the end is still unclear, and I’m sure it’s going to be one hell of a wild ride to come to some sort of resolution for everyone involved.
4.5 Poison Apples
Rush is a dirty talking, hot boy. Isabelle is the archbishop’s virgin daughter and his target. The twists and turns keep coming with this series. A sexy read that I liked and recommend.
An explosive addition to the elite seven, with twists and turns that you NEVER saw coming!!!
Up next is the elusive sloth with his couldn’t give a shit attitude and his sexy swagger no one would ever think something far more sinuster lies beneath this facade, his only reason for joining the elite was to avenge his mothers death and bring down the evil from within, with the added need to wreak havoc after the women he loves is badly beaten plans are made and the downfall is executed but at what deadly cost?
I absolutely loved sloth, questions have been answered and replaced with more ,twists and turns i never saw coming and that explosive ending leaves you begging for the final part of this series, giana darling has definitely set the bar extremely high for the final book and i cannot wait to see how it all comes together!!!!
Sloth just kept the suspense and the mystery of the Elite Seven series going. The penultimate of the series, Sloth continued the wild ride we saw in Gluttony.
Rush was an interesting character. Previously he has been portrayed as this lazy stoner (hence…Sloth), but we learn there is so much more to Rush than meets the eye. After Isabelle, we get to see his priorities change, in addition to his mindset. And it’s pretty great – seeing Rush care about something.
The crazy and wild story line continues, with some unexpected twists and turns. The timeline of Sloth overlaps a bit with Gluttony, but answers some questions we’ve had for weeks!
Greed is going to be a doozy. I can’t wait!
3 1/2 out of 5 stars
Rush and Isabelle’s story was more than I was anticipating when I sat down to read. I could have never guessed it was going to go where it went and I am still reeling (a couple of days after finishing) about everything that went down.
BUT, I did struggle with some of the elements of the story. I felt like Rush found his grace a little too easily and Isabelle fell from hers a little too quickly. Though the story was good, I didn’t feel like the two of them were really true to what I would expect from their characters. Rush was supposed to be – and had been in the previous books – a no-good, junkie almost. Isabelle was the “church mouse” and had very little real world experience. It was hard for me to believe that she would go from that to so willingly being his girl.
Also, while, I did enjoy this story, I felt like the author way overwrote in places. She used vocabulary that was more intense than the book should have had. She used descriptions that were byond what (at least I as) the reader needed.
*** I voluntarily read an unedited copy of this book in exchange for an honest review – my review does not account for grammatical errors that may be present ***
Jesus Christ! I feel like I’ve been shot. This is nuts.
I can’t feel my legs, my hands, my freaking brain cells. Rush & Isabelle’s story simply left me numb and super dumbfounded. I still can’t realize what I finished reading last night. Poof. Mind. Blown !!
Giana is a first timer for me and one of those authors that I wanted like hell to meet. The praises I have heard about her work is plain award-worthy. And, now, I can understand the why completely.
Rush, aka “Sloth”, probably can win easily the award for the most mysterious and intriguing characters out of the Seven. From the very first moment I met him in Pride until before I got my hands on his own story, he kept creating enough tension, intensity, and secret gaps to make you greedy to know him detailedly better and being unable to get him off your mind until you do. And when that happens, you are left speechless and fall hard for him in a blink of an eye. And speaking of falling, Isabelle might win fairly the world record of falling hard for Rush. Since their very first eye contact, you could feel the energy flowing between them in tons. And when they finally became one, that energy got deep roots and foundations, but also it got skyrocketed. Madness. Shivers. L O V E!
I don’t know how, but these seven authors created the most unbelievable, insane, addicting series in all the book land. These authors writing The Elite Seven, in reality, they became themselves The Elite Seven. A series beyond anything you could ever imagine and when it comes to me, with each book, it kept calling a deeper and darker part of me that I didn’t even know existed. The magnitude of what this series is, it’s simply untouchable with the human logic. I can’t really explain what this series is making feel. Each new ground-shaking, shocking, crazy, makes-my-blood-run-cold development that accompanies each hero’s story made it feel crazier and crazier. I lost count how many times I either cringed or my eyes got super wide or my heart skipped 10 beats with the dark-black scenes.
I feel so sad and devastated that there is only one book left for this series’s THE END. I just don’t want for it to end. If it could continue forever, I would be the happiest woman on earth. The world, the characters, the EVERYTHING of The Elite needs to live eternally. Don’t get me wrong, I am waiting at the very edge of my seat to F I N A L L Y read Micah’s true love story with Evie. But still, it’s always sad when a phenomenal thing comes to its finale.
Sloth Giana Darling is book 6 in The Elite Seven Series. This is the story of Rush Dempsey ‘Sloth ‘ and Isabelle Savoie. I have read the other books in this series and their is a underlining story going on that continues through each one but with that said you could make this a standalone book if you with to do so. Rush is the youngest of his family and was beloved by his mother but in turn wasn’t by his father. When he was almost 18 years old his mother ‘killed’ herself. Although Rush always blamed his father he went along to be the perfect son by falling his father example into enrolling in to St. Augustine, then to joining The Elite group. Now about a year later he is given the task to teach the Archbishop Savoie a less by corrupting his daughter Isabelle. Isabelle has been groomed to be the perfect daughter of God and has been very protected. When Rush confronts her in church he knows that he must have her and not because of his task.
I am such a fan of Ms. Darling’s writing so this was a must read for me but I have also been a fan of this dark series.
Rush Dempsey is everything.
The legit puppet master
Isabell…. love her pure soul.
Rush’s task? Ruin the church and the archbishops daughter… easy, right? Then he sees her. *lightening bolt*. Plans change. Thoughts evolve. Sweetness wrapped in smoking hotness ensue …
And bonus…
I love when karma does her job and evil is blotted out.
Long love the new elite seven!!!
Amazing series. Each one gets better and better!
Greed is up next at a rapid conclusion!
With each new book in the series, I think the current one can not beat the previous one. Well, it seems I was wrong again.
SLOTH brings the story of a new member The Elite Seven. One Deadly Sin with each book, and the plot surprises, admires, shocks.
Rush Dempsey was born and raised on the stigma of never bringing anything good to his family.
With three older brothers, Rush was always considered the black sheep, and the one protected by the mother, to the despair and anger of his father.
But when he was about 18, Rush witnessed his mother kill herself.
The culprit? The Elite.
Rush then swears he’ll exterminate the Elite.
But for that, he needed to get into the Elite.
With each new sin, a member is bound to perform a task, never easy, and with zero morality.
But prepare yourself, because in this book Giana Darling is overcome.
Rush’s aim was none other than the Archbishop’s daughter, Isabelle Savoie.
Are you prepared to sin?
More than 5 stars
I’m such a fan of Giana that regardless of what she writes is amazing and I adore all her work. I’ve not read any of the other books in the series before this, however I was able to follow the story, which is a credit to Giana. The end was pretty exciting so I’m certainly going to have to read the last book. Rush was one seriously hot, dirty talking, sexy man, no wonder isabelle couldn’t resist him. I do suggest reading the other books in order to get a greater understanding of the other characters, I intend on going back to the beginning. I loved this book. Its everything you would expect by Giana. You will not be disappointed. I give sloth 5 stars. Happy reading.
This series is AMAZING! Rush Dempsey says he doesn’t give a f**k but when he does, oh my is it yummy! This guy, who everyone is convinced is a slouch, is pretty much a masterful puppeteer. He’s the kind of guy who will make you do something bad, then convince you it had been your idea all along. Dirty talking Alpha to the extreme… oh how I wish he was real and that I was the one he truly gave a f**k about lol, talk about intensity! Edge of your seat twists and turns here. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but I absolutely loved it and recommend it! Just bravo well done Ms. Darling! This whole series is a must! Can’t wait for the final book!
Sloth is book six in The Elite Seven series. I so recommend you read this series in order to get the most out of it. All the books are so so good.
Rush is off the charts hot. The chemistry…phew I needed a fan lol
Although I loved each book I feel this was my favourite so far. Brilliant twists had me grinning so hard.
Seriously can’t wait to read more of this series.
This book was everything and more!
Rush Dempsey was the epitome of the Elite, and brotherhood. I just loved how this story kept on developing. It was chaotic and explosive, and oh so very addictive.
As for Isabelle, well, wow! Saint turned sinner. I loved the transformation this character had throughout the story, and I loved how she was with Rush. It was awesome!
Rush and Isabelle were STEAM-MEH! It was hot, so hot that my kindle felt it too! It was steamy without being off-putting.
The story was intense, and dark, bit so is the rest of the series. So if you’re into dark delights, then this is for you If not, you were warned. This book does tread on some sensitive issues, but it is well done.
Sloth is a must-read! Just like Envy, the author treads on lines like nobody’s business, and she does it well. I will most definitely be reading more of this author’s works. 5 STARS!
Having read the first 5 books of this series, I just knew that shadowy, shadey, creepin-around-and-show-up-when-you-least-expect-him Sloth/Rush Dempsey was going to flip me out when I read his story. BAM! Mission accomplished Giana Darling! This talented author brings her A-game to Sloth, the sixth book in the Elite Seven Series. I loved Rush Dempsey/Sloth. He’s sexy, dirty-talking, dark, and angry…a bad boy you can’t help but root for and fall in love with. Lots of stuff happening in this book…bringing the story full circle, plenty of action, suspense, surprises, and steamy times. I can’t wait to read the final book of this series and see just where it all ends up! Another great read–don’t miss this series!
***5 ‘I Like to Have Context for My Sins’ Stars***
Well, then….
*Takes a moment*
As with the previous books in this series, this one has definitely left me satisfied on side of the coin and hanging & wanting more on the other and considering that we have one book left, well, there are still a fuckton of things left to deal with…
But on to Sloth & his Church mouse.
After Gluttony aka God, Sloth aka Rush has been the ‘brother’ who has intrigued me the most. His lack of appearing to care and yet always being “there” at just the right moment made him an enigma. So finally being able to get inside his head was a lot of fun. The guy is not as unaffected as some would believe and a lot more highly motivated. I adored Isabelle. There is a confidence to her and I loved watching it grow as the story progressed as truths were exposed that forced her to make some big decisions about her life and future. As for their journey to their HEA, I thoroughly enjoyed it and them and considering all the crazy that has gone with the previous couples, I’m just gonna leave it at that.
The crazy, dark, dirty and disturbing were on point in this one, and as with the others, some questions/issues were dealt with, while others are still open, but I was more or less satisfied. As for the other brothers and their women, at least those who have them, I loved seeing how far they’ve all come and just how much of a ‘family’ they’re becoming. But now to wait for what is shaping up to be one hell of a finale with Greed!

The Elite is a secret society with power unimaginable. To be a member, is one of highest honor. Follow their rules and you will have endless: WEALTH, POWER, and FAME. Once you are selected, you must pass initiation. And meet the brotherhood. Your brothers in arms. A bond so lethal it is unbendable and unbreakable. The Seven Sins.
LUST, PRIDE, WRATH, ENVY, GREED, GLUTTONY, SLOTH
You should read the Elite series books in order, as they all go with each other.
In book #6, Sloth, who is Rush Dempsey. He’s had power, wealth, everything your heart desires, he’s had. Rush has always been the one in the back, hiding in plan sight. Watching, waiting to help his brother’s in need.
Isabelle Savoie has always been the quite church mouse that she was raised to be. She wears clothes your grandmother wore as a teenager. She never wears clothes that show her frame, let alone much of her body. Isabelle has been completely sheltered by her father. A man who was put in place of a church, who has become very powerful by other Elite members. No One knows the hardships he has put Isabelle through. No One knows of the beatings he has put her through all in the name of GOD. Her father maybe powerful and influential, but, he can’t be hurting her and getting away with it like he is.
Isabelle does match with Rush. Rush protects her. I feel that some of the earlier sex scenes there is no way she could have been doing things she was if she was a virgin. I did like Isabelle and her hopefulness shining through.
I did receive a free ARC Copy of this book, I received from the author. I am freely leaving an honest review.
