I don’t give a fuck. Not about money or fame, beauty or power. I’ve had all those things since birth, and trust me, they’re a fucking snooze. I don’t give a fuck about anyone, not even myself. Until my father proves evil can exist in the most holy of places. For the first time ever, something like interest stirs in my soul.He wants me to enroll at St. Augustine. Join The Elite. Court the virginal … Elite.
Court the virginal daughter of Archbishop Savoie.
Prove that I’m worth the family name?
I’ll do it all.
And I’ll do it so well, no one will know what’s coming.
People are so quick to underestimate the wicked and lazy.
They forget idle hands are the best tools for the devil’s work.
I am Rush Dempsey.
I am Sloth.

Absolutely captivating!!! Rush Dempsey (Sloth) blew my mind when he came out to be a dirty talking alpha. Sloth is a hacker and coder, stoner and overall chill person who everyone underestimates. There are so many twists and turns, secrets and deceptions and overall mindf**k it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole entire time. Will Rush sully the archbishop’s daughter and bring about the ruin of the church? Bring on Greed!!!!
Giana Darling has created a masterpiece. Sloth was simply astounding. This darkly beautiful series is coming to an end and the questions that have left me craving more of the books are being answered.
Rush Dempsey, Sloth, is a complete opposite of his sin. He was the character in the background and was always found lurking around. No one knew his true purpose in being in The Elite but he was always there lending a helping hand. This brotherhood became his family and he would do whatever it takes to help them. His scroll has finally come and the virginal Archbishop’s daughter Isabelle is his task. All his brothers has found love from their task, will it be the same for him. He is dark and wicked and t the innocent Church Mouse is like an aphrodisiac to him. He is all for taking her for a wild ride. Isabelle also brings out his protective instincts. She is pure and is like a beacon of light to him and he plans on keeping her.
Rush was always collecting information and storing secrets until it was time to use them. He also didn’t shy away from telling Isabelle everything. There was no push and pull between them. He didn’t he wanted her and that was it.
The last few chapters have me like
WHAAAAAAAAAAAT
I am shook. I did not see that coming. What a major twist. Greed can’t come fast enough.
The corruption, the mayhem, the deception… Oh MY! The ruining of innocence and arrogance or Sloth! I want more! Rush has been given a task to fulfill and he’s on the rampage to get there, regardless of who or what he takes down with him on the way. But Isabelle is so much more than he anticipated and he’ll have quite the fight on his hands between his end-game and his saving grace. The angst and tension is very high in this story, keeping me on the edge of my seat waiting for it. I haven’t read the other books in this series yet, so I am only speaking from the standpoint of this one part of the story, but it definitely wants to make me go back to the others, which will be done.
The Elite Seven – a secret society originated in 1942. The Elite is for life. Where sacrifices must be made to show your dedication to the organization. A brotherhood forged with initiations where your sin is a reflection or version of your abilities and personality. Seven brothers, Seven sins: Lust, Sloth, Gluttony, Pride, Envy, Greed, and Wrath.
SLOTH: My name is Rush Dempsey and my sin is sloth. Everyone underestimates me. They mistake my patience and indifference as laziness and lack of ambition. My task is to defile and deflower the Archbishop’s daughter and the church. I have been biding my time, waiting to take this whole secret society down and I may finally have all the evidence I need. Popping the cherry of the innocent little church mouse is just frosting on the cake.
This sin is probably the hardest to characterize, and I feel that the author succeeded in bringing those qualities to Rush Dempsey. We receive confirmation of some of the players as to who are the puppeteer masters behind The Elite bringing a bit more closure towards that last and final book. I didn’t feel that the storyline was the strongest, but perhaps that may have to do with the impromptu changes that had to be made on one of the installments in the series, changing the reading order.

I give this book 3.5 stars……
I’m a huge fan of Giana Darling and her books. I was so excited for this this book. But this one fell a little flat for me. I enjoyed the storyline. I just felt that Rush and Isabelle were lacking a little. There were times were I liked their characters and times I didn’t understand them. There were a few storyline errors in the book as well. I didn’t hate it. But it wasn’t my favorite.
This book is part of a series. I highly recommend you start at the beginning of the series. As they all tie together. You can read this before you read the others. But I feel you will be missing out information if you don’t. Like I did. I wish I started at the beginning. But it didn’t effect how I felt about this book or story.
There has been a lot of books, movies and discussions based upon the 7 Deadly Sins, so I was wondering how this was going to be unique. I should have know that this talented writer along with the group of other writers in this series would not disappoint. This story was so detailed, yet relatable. I loved how Giana Darling took a rich and entitled brat and turned him into a fundamental part of taking down an institution of deceit and destruction. Slough was a bit lazy and appeared to not really give 2 cents for anything or anyone until a catastrophic event made him become a man bend on revenge. He meets his yang in the little church mouse who provided the balance, yet support, for his retribution. Together along with the brotherhood, they start to right the many wrongs the Elite has committed. I loved the suspense written within these pages. I loved the love story that emerges and the 5 alarm fire of how incredibly sexy Rush and Isabelle were together. I highly recommend this story as well as the other books in the series.
Bahhhhhh, I’ve been pretty happy with books 6 & 7 and kinda of wish the rest of the series went this route. This series has been a bit of a mixed bag, but I’ve loved Gluttony and Sloth the most so far. I was sooooo happy to finally know more of Rush’s story. He has been a huge mystery the entire series, always popping up when necessary. Rush definitely intrigued me the most and I truly enjoyed his story with Isabella.
As you read his story, you’ve been warned that there will be some scenes that’s not for everyone. However, if you made it this far in the series and still kept your sanity, then the warning is void. You can do it, so hang in there
One of the things that I was so thankful for was the Elite Seven Character List that Darling shares in the beginning. It was so helpful to me since let’s be real, there’s SOOOOO many characters to keep track of in this series. I had to refer back to it every now and then. Even with the list, I still had a bit of a confusion about who was related to who since they talk about the older and younger members of the Elite Seven.
I truly loved this book because I honestly felt like we were finally tying up loose ends … literally. Oh how far these guys have fallen for their ladies and I was loving every moment of it. With this in mind, it almost felt like this could have definitely been the final book, BUT we still have one more book to go. And with that ending, I have no idea what’s to come in the final one, Greed.
The brotherhood became more solidified and the Elite Seven is finally shaping into something better than the former. And with Rush, I appreciated how honest he was with everyone especially Isabella. He was up front with her about the insanity that is the Elite and his task. Some of the other guys definitely should take a note or two out of his book.
So yes, as my first read by Giana Darling, I loved it! Things are finally coming to end, but I’m left with even more questions and wondering if the last book will suffice as an epic conclusion to this series? We shall see.
**I RECEIVED A COMPLIMENTARY READER’S COPY FROM THE AUTHOR IN CONSIDERATION FOR A REVIEW. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR CONTENT OF MY REVIEW**
Giana Darling
This Series still getting better and better !!!! Antoher book , another heartbreaks… antoher steamy moments and another secrets to find out… adding this with Mrs Giana’s Darling writting style ??? Pure Perfection !!! Sloth is absolutely must read, however, I need to say – whole series is worth every reader’s time!
Giana Darling improve again, that she knows exactly how to connect 2 people, who doesen’t know how perfect they could be together. |I’m under impresion what this author’s done with Rush and Isabelle story. I’ve enjoyed every paige, every word about them. They are tottaly opposite, and still so much a like. They are hot, they are young… they everything what they need from each other… Elite Seven is still behind their back, because there are still secrets to find out.
Sloth by Giana Darlin is great read and amazing book about love, sins and mistery that needed to be discovered fast ! Elite Seven sucked me in their darker side, and I don’t want to come back.
Waiting impatiently what will happen in last book !
These books are nothing short of amazing how they keep building upon one another. I loved the story of Rush and how the author really brought you into the family dynamics and how it was all intermingled with the Elite. Isabelle is Rush’s task and you could see the chemistry between these two from the beginning. While there was steam built in it was not enough to overpower the story. There were some great surprises written into this story and truly I love how the Elite is trying to balance wrong and right.
These stories are amazing how they keep building upon one another and I keep getting surprises thrown at me
Get ready to be in for a shocker! The story is finally coming full circle. Feel like I’ve been waiting for this to finally coming to an end. That dang ended though. Every. Single. Time.
Let me start by saying this is the only book I have read so far in this series, but I will be going back to read the others immediately. Other than maybe some background information that I was missing I was able to completely read and understand what was happening with zero issues. I think reading the books in order is probably the better way to go, but I don’t think the story lacked at all by me not doing that. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of the book for an honest review.
OMG!! Y’all this series is so freaking good! With every book it keeps getting better and better. Everything is coming together and I’m on the edge of my seat.
This is one of those books that are so hard to review. I don’t want to give five anything away and it’s almost impossible not to so I’ll just say. It’s dark, breathtaking and will keep you on your toes. You gotta check these out!
*Review by Michelle
The end is upon us and it’s a bittersweet moment. I’ve been with The Elite Seven series eagerly awaiting release after release. I’m sad there is only one sin left to experience, but holy hell I can already feel this series is going to have an explosive ending!
Today we are here to discuss the sixth book in the series, Sloth.
Sloth is written by Giana Darling, who also happens to be another new to me author. Sloth is said to be the laziest of all sins, but throughout this novel, I found Rush to be the strongest and smartest out of all the men. He’s definitely one you should fear and keep a close eye on. There’s nothing more deadly than a man on a mission to seek vengeance for a lost loved one. That’s for damn sure.
I loved how calculating Rush was throughout this novel. He was the smartest which also made him the most dangerous. So of course this man’s match has to be just as calculating as he is. Enter Isabelle (also known as Church Mouse). Isabelle is just as calculating as Rush, the only difference, she uses her manipulation tactics as a survival instinct.
Those who are around Isabelle see her as a quiet god fearing woman, they don’t know the secrets that hide behind locked doors. They don’t know that her father isn’t the holy man they see in their Archbishop. They don’t know that he uses god as a punishment and his fist as the verdict. They don’t know, but Rush does, and he’s determined to protect Isabelle in every way he possibly can.
I’m not a religious person, I don’t attend church, but I do have faith and I hold it close to my heart. With that being said, there was a part of me that couldn’t wait to dive into this story. I tend to stay away from novels with material involving the church, they never sparked my interest before. But then I read the blurb for Sloth and I knew I needed this novel! Giana Darling does a great job at mixing the sweet with the sexy.
I really enjoyed the strong suspense vibes throughout Sloth’s story. There were so many dynamics and threats in this one, It kept me on the edge of my seat and continuously looking over my shoulder, metaphorically speaking of course. The only issue I had, I wanted a little more of a backstory from Isabelle. I felt her story was skimmed over to get over the nitty gritty. I wanted to connect with her a little bit more.
Overall, this novel was kickass! I can’t wait to see how Ker Dukey and K. Webster are going to wrap this series up! It has been one hell of an emotional whirlwind. I’m sad to see this series end, but the ending is one of my biggest anticipations!
Giana Darling has slayed it in Sloth. This is undoubtedly my favourite story in the Elite Seven series. She has excelled in every aspect of this unbelievably shocking dark read. The storytelling is flawless. Sloth and his love Isabelle’s character were perfection. She captured the essence of the series with her captivating writing. The sinners , the saints, the revenge, the passion, the mystery, the mind games, the power plays- simply absolutely mindblowing brilliance.
The epic series is coming to an end and the puzzle pieces need to come together now. I was really interested in reading how Giana does that in Sloth. She is one of my favourite authors and she can write a mean dark romance for sure. She didn’t disappoint me at all. The rollercoaster ride was worth all the panic attacks, tears and nailchewing I did while reading. Sloth aka Rush Dempsey is my most favorite sin now. He is the lethal combination of brain, patience, sexiness and determination. The centuries old corrupt rotten society is falling apart and Rush has a significant role to play in everything. I am intrigued , spellbound, captivated and mesmerized by this man. He can be a calculating risk taker and emotionless game player. And he can be a protective, emotional and empathetic person who can do anything for his brothers and the woman he loves.
Isabelle is the woman who brought Rush to his knees. The apparently innocent and pure daughter of the Archbishop is actually a power house of passion, compassion and strength. She walked through the burning hell and came out stronger with help of Rush. The other elite seven characters occupied a sizable chunk of the book as the plot is slowly unravelled and the secrets get exposed. The shocks never stopped coming and my jaw is hurting from hitting the floor way too many times. And then came that ending! You are not ready for it. Not at all. Giana Darling packed some potent punches here.
Sloth by Giana Darling is the best story in the dark, revolting and mysterious world of Elite Seven. It sucked me in and left me breathless.I am still dazed and reeling from all the shocking revelations and sharp turns in the story. You cannot miss this angsty, raw, violent and amazing creation by Giana Darling! Must read dark romance of 2019.
Received ARC for Honest Review
Since I always strive to be 100% honest in my reviewing, I will admit that I am kind of over this series. It’s been a bit of a hot mess of way too much OW stuff (for my tastes), confusing timelines, and a lot of repetition. At the same time I feel this compulsion to see keep going and see where this is all going to end. (lol) And there has been a few good parts throughout (so there is that).
After the last book which was by FAR the best book of the series I had high hopes that the series would end with a bang. This book was more like a sputtering firecracker. Now don’t get me wrong. I actually liked this one (mostly), and this author gets HUGE props for being only the second book with no pointless OW sex scenes (yay). But it didn’t really advance the storyline a lot and was a bit confusing. Since there is only one more book, I expected more action, and answers. However, I did enjoy that this book focused more on the romance which most of the previous ones lacked. But I wasn’t a fan that the heroine was older (bleh). And finally, that ending had my interest sparked BIG TIME. So I have my fingers crossed the last book will pull the proverbial rabbit from the hat and give us all a fantastic and satisfying ending.
I have to say I struggled a bit with Sloth, book 7 or the Elite Series by Giana Darling. It’s. It that I don’t love a hot, sexy, and revengeful male that will stop at nothing to get what he wants cause I do. Rush Dempsey didn’t care about anyone or anything until he did. Rush and Isabelle, the Archbishops daughter, we’re good together but she definitely fell faster than I thought. She didn’t come across as strong till later in the story for me. There were many twists in Sloth and the ending was not at all what I was expecting. My struggle with the book was the disconnect from me, the timeline and the characters. I just felt confused a bit at first and couldn’t fully connect with rush and Isabelle. I am definitely looking forward the final book in the series to see how it all plays out in the end!!
Whew Rush Dempsey!! He is sin walking and proves it throughout the book. I have loved this series and the stories for each of the Brother’s as they navigate their tasks to gain entrance into the Elite.
I have always enjoyed Giana’s books and with her included in this series was just fantastic. Can’t wait to finish out this series to see what these guys all achieve.
Throughout this whole series, you see glimpses of Sloth….is he truly embracing his “sin”. On the outside and to the public, yes, yes he was…but inside…boy oh boy was he hurricane.
This is Sloth’s story, Rush is a wickedly sinful, a beautiful fallen angel and when he sees his virtue in Isabella, he knows he is going to be a faithful worshiper to her altar.
I so enjoyed the juxtaposition of Isabella and Rush. I loved reading who they ended up complimenting each other.
I also admired Rush’s tenacity and drive to get justice for himself and for his brothers. The behind the scenes machinations that Rush has in play for justice.
I was shocked and happily surprised by the twists in this story, you just never know what is going to happen!
I also am amazed by how this story just flows with the whole series and adds so much more depth! I was so curious about Sloth throughout this series and Ms. Darling does an amazing job of bringing his story to life.
This book is gonna grab you by the throat and not let you go until it’s over…and even then it’s gonna hold ya just a little bit more! The ending of this story is epic and is a fantastic cliffhanger to the final book in this series – Greed!
Ok so I loved this one. So right now Sloth and Gluttony are kinda tied at my favorite of the series. So much happen with these two but you never felt like they tried to squeeze a bunch in and overwhelm you. Sloth at first in the beginning of this series i wasn’t sure if i was going to like the guy but now i stand firmly in team sloth camp. The guy is good. And i loved his story. Despite what he went thru. But he came out of top and i can’t wait to see how the series is tied up with Greed.
Omg! I’m speechless! After reading the first 5 books in this series, I didn’t possibly think they could get even better, until Sloth. An utterly mind blowing read that will have your heart beating loud and left completely speechless. When Rush aka Sloth gets his task, he doesn’t think twice. Until he meets Isabelle and while a timid young woman, he knows there is something special about her. Will he follow thru on his task? Will Isabelle finally defy the one person in her life who is pure evil? These two character, while worlds apart in so many ways, belong together. This story also will leave you feeling so many emotions and you won’t want to put this book down. I can’t wait for the last book in this series as I anticipate it will be life altering. Do yourself a favor and read this series and you will love Sloth just as much as I do!
