BONUS: This edition contains an excerpt from Mary Balogh’s The Secret Mistress.Meet the Bedwyns…six brothers and sisters—men and women of passion and privilege, daring and sensuality…Enter their dazzling world of high society and breathtaking seduction…where each will seek love, fight temptation, and court scandal…and where Aidan Bedwyn, the marriage-shy second son, discovers that matrimony … that matrimony may be the most seductive act of all.…
Like all the Bedwyn men, Aidan has a reputation for cool arrogance. But this proud nobleman also possesses a loyal, passionate heart—and it is this fierce loyalty that has brought Colonel Lord Aidan to Ringwood Manor to honor a dying soldier’s request. Having promised to comfort and protect the man’s sister, Aidan never expected to find a headstrong, fiercely independent woman who wants no part of his protection…nor did he expect the feelings this beguiling creature would ignite in his guarded heart. And when a relative threatens to turn Eve out of her home, Aidan gallantly makes her an offer she can’t refuse: marry him…if only to save her home. And now, as all of London breathlessly awaits the transformation of the new Lady Aidan Bedwyn, the strangest thing happens: With one touch, one searing embrace, Aidan and Eve’s “business arrangement” is about to be transformed…into something slightly surprising.

Mary Balogh’s opening book in her Bedwyn Saga, Slightly Married is in the top ten of my all-time favorite books. The characterization of Eve and Aiden, two people driven by honor, kindness, and family are thrown together by fate as it were, when Eve’s brother dies in Aiden’s arms after a battle in France. He begs Aiden to look after his sister …
This was the first of Mary Balogh’s books I read, and I loved it. Aidan and Eve get married for pragmatic reasons rather than for love, but this being a romance, they can’t help falling for each other. Their relationship builds slowly, in a natural way, as both try to come to terms with each other’s vastly different backgrounds and temperaments. …
The arranged marriage in this novel is all mixed up in feelings of duty. The hero, Aidan, returns from war with a promise to a fallen comrade that he would check on his sister, only to find that she is at risk of being turned out of her home. Aidan marries Eve to save her family home. It’s only after that they fall in love…I love that Aidan …
This was my first time reading Mary Balogh’s work. I liked her writing style, her characterizations and wonderfully detailed bucolic settings. The MCs were likable. Well, Eve, was likable from the very beginning. It took me a minute to warm up to Aidan and see what made him tick. The author waited till almost the very end to show us why he was the …
I loved this entire series. Must be read in order to fully enjoy, as the characters from previous books appear in subsequent books in the series. Mary Balogh is my favorite author.
I love anything by this author, always a great read!
All the ‘Slightly’ books revolve around the Bedwins, Waterloo, and its effects on various members of the family, at whose head is the Duke, Wulfric. a seemingly remote figure. (Ah, but wait! His time is coming, in the last book.)
This book concerns Aidan, who must visit the sister of one of his men who died in battle. Due to a nasty relative he …
Gruff and honorable H marries generous and honorable heroine in a ploy to keep her estate as well as (entertainingly) keep it from her horrible and heartless cousin.
Slow burn romance with some amusing moments where the more plebeian born heroine holds her own with the exceedingly SNOBBY and highborn family of the hero.
Intriguing and seemingly …
Yet another marriage of convenience novel. You man think you’ve seen it before. Think again. The writing is as original as the title, which is probably my all-time favorite romance novel title. There is nothing “slight” about Aiden Bedwyn, or any of his siblings.
Totally loved this book!
The writing, the plot, the characters,… everyting was awesome! I really enjoyed Eve and Aidan story that through a marriage of convenience find true love. Marriage of convenience is one of my favorites tropes and Mary Balogh develop this story wonderfully.
I love the heroine personality. She’s strong, determined, …
