I was flying high with the Florida Falcons until an injury completely changed my life. Playing baseball had been my dream since I was a kid and, America couldn’t get enough of the Brit who’d made it to the big leagues. The game was my world, but suddenly I couldn’t do it anymore. I was bored. I was frustrated. So I filled the void. Sex was an easy answer for a pro ball player with an English … English accent, and soon my misdemeanours were splashed across the tabloids. Now I was a bad joke, a sleazy internet meme, a washed-up third-baseman who enjoyed playing with women more than playing the game.
I was given an ultimatum: go home to England and turn things around, or face being dropped. My reputation had been knocked out of the park for the final time. I needed a lifeline.
And then she showed up. An obstacle in my path struggling with a suitcase.
Jess tempted me before I’d even left the States. But there was something more. She intrigued me. Could the actress with the knockout smile help turn my life around?
I offered her a business arrangement she couldn’t refuse. No complications. No distractions. What could possibly go wrong?

•The Baseball Brit•
Started out great, really did a fantastic job of building up the characters and the chemistry/connection between them but then it just went into lightning speed until the end of the book. After such a fantastic first half of the book, I really wish there had been more in the way of them building a relationship or at least seeing more of the fake dating, so we could see more of that connection between them.
I enjoyed the overall story as it’s a very well written book and the characters were incredibly like-able. This was also the first book I’ve read where it’s solely from the males POV and I especially loved that aspect of it.
This novella was also part of the Rounding Third Baseball Anthology. I loved this novella about a British baseball player brought together with an actress by fate and kept together by an opportunity to help each other out. Though it is not without challenge they finally get their HEA. I love books where characters grow to be better for each other and this one does not fail to deliver.
I don’t know why it took me so long to read this book; it was awesome! It’s a quick read, but it’s packed with passion, lust, love, and new beginnings. I really love Brad and Jess, both together and apart. They both overcome challenges and insecurities to become better people, which made them a better couple as well. I could almost feel their love through the pages before they even said the words, and I didn’t put the book down until I finished it. What a great read!
I read this story when it was originally part of Rounding Third: A Baseball Anthology. I’ve really enjoyed Lynsey’s books for a while and was very happy to see she was releasing this as it’s own novella. While it’s a “short”, it definitely packs in a lot – chemistry, sexy times, a little angst and some good laughs. I definitely recommend it.
I am a huge fan of Lynsey Stewart and this novella is a perfect afternoon read. Brad is a Brit who was brought up in Florida after his parents moved there when he was eleven. In an effort to fit in with his school friends he takes baseball and finds that not only does he love the game but he is very good at it. After making his mark in the major leagues he sustains a season ending injury. Instead of working on his recovery, Brad is making the gossip columns as a playbook. After being told that he needs to clean up his act or he’s finished in baseball, he hires Jess to play his fake girlfriend to try to repair his image, but both find that there is chemistry they can’t deny.
I originally read Sliding Home as part of the Rounding Third anthology.
This novella has all of the things in this short story. There’s some heat, there’s some hilarity, and there’s a little bit of angst. I loved the Baseball Brit and I wouldn’t mind another longer visit with him!!
This book was part of an anthology and i hadn’t grabbed it yeT so when Lynsey M Stewart brought hers out on its own i had to grab it.
I loved this novella, the one thing i like about novellas is as soon as they start your in the heart of the story and i love this, sometimes you need that quick easy read and i got that in spades with this little story.
I loved both Brad and Jess i thought they were both awesome characters just both trying to find thier way in the world and try and make some good choices. Fate came into play and the story unravelled into a really awesome love story.
If your looking for something quick with a great bad boy and a sweet heroine and a great story with so much packed in to one little story this one is for you
5 stars for this firecracker
I read this short story as part of the Rounding Third anthology and absolutely loved it! You don’t need to know anything about baseball to enjoy the book, as you will discover that we hear more about Brad’s antics off the pitch than on.
Brad the Baseball Brit – what a fabulous character he is. He has an amazing personality that will have you smiling and laughing from the very first chapter. Brad’s career is on the line as he becomes increasingly reported in the papers for his lifestyle rather than his brilliant playing skills. He desperately needs to change his reputation and luckily he bumps into Jess. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Jess and Brad and I loved the banter that they share. This book has everything you could possibly want from a short story…. humour, angst, heat and joy. I’d totally recommend this story without a second thought…. it is a fabulous read.
