Life’s a party, and Roman White is determined to have a good time. As the youngest captain at his airline, he has to endure a little good-natured ribbing, but at least he has the perks of being a pilot: constant travel and four gold bars on his shoulder that help him find men in every town. When he tries commitment, he always overcommits and scares off boyfriends. Why bother settling down?Oscar … down?
Oscar Brooks is at the top of his game. As a dancer, he’s constantly touring with a prestigious company and stretching himself to attract his directors’ eye for a leading role. Even his frenemy-with-benefits in the company can’t distract him from his goal… until everything goes wrong in a heartbeat and he has to rebuild his life. What is he supposed to do now?
Roman has a spare room, and Oscar needs a place to stay. It seems like a match made in heaven. Except the chemistry between them didn’t stop after they tried to get it out of their system… and the attraction is only getting worse. Even their friends are trying to keep them apart, afraid of what can happen when two free spirits collide. Will they break each other’s heart, or can they break out of their patterns and chase their dreams together?
Slick is a standalone gay romance novel with a HEA ending and no cliffhanger. Book #4, Trace, is available now!

3.5 Decent story but not my favorite
I absolutely love Ed and his books. I have to admit that I am behind on The Significant Brothers series, so when I had the opportunity to honestly review a free copy, I jumped at the chance. Unfortunately, this just didn’t hit all my buttons the way his books usually do.
The story is entertaining, and we see earlier characters, but I just couldn’t make the personal connection with either Oscar or Roman. And, I guess because of that, I had a hard time figuring out how they went from players, and new one-offs in every town, to insta-something…lust? definitely… love? seems like it.
It was interesting to see how Oscar dealt with the turmoil that was his life, as well as watching Roman fighting his own battles. The problem is, at least for me, exactly that; they each fought their own battles, and it didn’t even seem to dawn on them to share with the other. Between that and the secrecy, I was disappointed with this one.
However, it was good enough that I listened to the whole thing, so it’s not terrible. lol! Now, Mr. Boudeaux, who is usually one of my absolute favorite narrators, did a good job, not great, but well enough for the listen. Maybe it was my overall disconnect from the story, but everything just felt kinda flat.
I’ll still be getting the next book, though!
Audiobook review:
Overall – 5

Great addition to the series!
Slick is book 3 in the Significant Brothers series but can be read as a standalone with no problem. Greg Boudreaux did another fantastic job with this story; I love listening to his voice.
The dancer and the pilot – an unlikely pair? After Oscar injures his knee, thus preventing him from dancing, Roman offers his spare room while he recuperates. They didn’t expect to fall for each other.
Not being able to dance is really hard on Oscar and Roman is being harassed by another pilot at work. Roman’s job keeps them separated for days at a time and they aren’t doing a very good job of communicating with each other which leads to misunderstandings. I loved it when they finally started talking to each other and the epilogue was great.
I’m really enjoying this series; I look forward to listening to more of the books.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
Roman and Oscar have the most convoluted beginning to a romance that I’ve seen in a while. I could understand why each of their best friends is wary of them getting together since they are an established couple on the brink of their engagement. Talk about awkward if things didn’t work out. Roman and Oscar are both proficient at hookups and completely clueless about relationships. Roman wants his HEA so badly that he jumps the gun with each new guy making them run the other way. Oscar doesn’t do emotional attachments as a way to guard himself. I liked how Roman tries so hard to pursue Oscar the ‘right way’ by taking it slowly and giving Oscar whiplash with his hot and cold behavior. Both of them suck at communication and they really have to work at making the right moves. The spice level is way up there and when they’re relaxed it’s beautiful. Roman’s grand gesture and commitment to lay it all out there and tell Oscar exactly what he wants was wonderful. I loved that he did and said it in front of Oscar’s friends.
Recommended author and series
Audiobook: Greg Boudreaux is an amazing narrator- highly recommended
A dancer and a pilot, great for standby sex, but is it enough for the long haul.

Roman and Oscars book
We met these guys briefly in book 2 and finally they get their own book.
Whilst both in town they hook up. Roman being a long haul pilot is away a lot, Oscar being a dancer is also around the world so hasn’t got a base at home.
After an accident leaving the dance studios, Oscar has to leave the dancing world for 6 weeks minimum, in the world of high-end dancers, this is a life sentence. He heads back to his hometown to stay with his best friend, but that isn’t a realistic option, too many stairs.
Roman meets Oscar again on a night out with the significant brothers, and decide that a hook-up would work again. Will they get together or will it be a like planes that pass in the night, should that be ships.
This is another great book in the series from Ed and again narrated extremely well. Can’t wait for the next book.
Book 3 in this great series is about Roman the airline pilot and Oscar the dancer. Both have a history of love then and leave them. They have no idea how to have a relationship but together they find their normal. There is interaction with all the other significant brothers with updates on existing couples. Off to read the next book.
The third book in the Significant Brothers series tells Roman’s story about falling in love with Oscar. Unlike the other two books, Slick has more angst and Roman and Oscar really have to be emotionally honest with each other by the end of the book. Roman is a pilot who’s at the top of his game. He flies internationally and never has a problem picking up a boy in each foreign destination. But Roman wants more—he wants love. Oscar is a dancer on the brink of stardom. He’s in the finals for competing for the lead dance role in his dance companies new show. That is, until a tragic injury has him side-lined. Through chance, Oscar and Roman run into each other, and soon the romance is blooming, along with the self doubt and insecurity. Both Oscar and Roman will have to re-evaluate their lives and find the best path both for themselves and their relationship.
I have loved all the brothers so far, and their boyfriends too, but Roman and Oscar may well be my new favourite couple. As always, a wonderful read from the very talented Ed Davies, who never fails to give us the deep feelings, while making us smile with their characters sass and banter.
