The ranch she’s lived on since she was a young bride gives her purpose. She’s an active member of their close-knit community. But the old coot who lives down the road continually invades her thoughts, keeping her from having any peace. I loved this sweet romance!!!! It’s a short read but well worth the time. When people lose their spouse after a long wonderful marriage we tend to forget that it’s OK to love again. Jess and Doris have to overcome the feeling that they are betraying the partner that has gone on to heaven. As usual for Shanna–there’s lots of very real humor included! Also, as I get older I really appreciate reading about “mature” adults! Don’t miss this great read by Shanna Hatfield!
You don’t get the chance to read romance books with older couples often, so when the opportunity to read Sleigh Bells Ring In Romance came up I jumped at the chance as Shanna Hatfield is a new author to me.
I love any story that is centered around Christmas; it’s a time for family and friends to get together and celebrate life. It’s the most magical time of the year and also happens to be my most favourite holiday.
This was a fun, quick read and one I thoroughly enjoyed. I liked Shanna Hatfield’s style of writing and will be looking into her other books as soon as time permits.
This is the story of rancher Jess Milne and Doris Grundy. Two people, both single after the death of their spouses finally come together. They were good friends until Jess asked Doris out and it was down hill after that. Now it seems to be a love/hate relationship although Doris, despite herself is attracted to Jess.
When her grandson decides to do a little meddling, Doris finds herself helping Jess. The effort Jess puts into convincing Doris that you are never to old to fall in love was truly heartwarming.
There were moments where I was laughing out loud at some of the antics and comments of Jess and Doris and although it was a quick read it certainly got me in to the holiday spirit.
Christmas is my favourite time of year so as soon as I saw the title of this new series by Shanna Hatfield I knew I needed to read it, this was a win win for me a new author and a series set in the most magical time of year and after finishing Sleigh Bells Ring I will certainly be checking out other books by this author. This book was like a breath of fresh air it’s about an older couple who have both lost their spouses finding love again. Doris and Jess have been neighbors for many years and they used to be friends but now it seems they have a love hate relationship so when Doris is set up by her grandson to help Jess get over an operation things start to get interesting she is only helping because her grandson forced her hand and Jess is thinking why do I have I done to get saddled with the crazy woman from next door. This book has me laughing out loud maybe it’s because I’m in my 60’s and I could relate to the comments and tone of voice used throughout this book or maybe it’s just great writing from this very talented author what I can say for sure is I will be searching out other books by Shanna Hatfield. A very quick funny read but don’t be fooled by the length of this novella its still a great read with great characters and a very cute piglet named pigtails. A great magical holiday read.

A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!
Sleigh Bells Ring in Romance by Shanna Hatfield is a refreshing story of two older people who have a second chance at love. Jess and Doris are neighbors and they, along with their spouses, have been close friends for years. But now their spouses are both deceased. Jess has decided we wants to marry Doris, but he has a hard time convincing her. It’s a sweet quick book that will be sure to delight you. It’s never too late for love.
I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
A delightful story of acwidowvvand widower finding love, if the woman wasn’t so stubborn. When she is volunteered by her son to help her widowed neighbor recover from surgery. The sparks are flying and their banter is funny. I loved the scene with the pink piglet bath sponge, it was hilarious. You will have a good time reading this story. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Once again Shanna Hatfield makes me smile and say a contented awwwww. Doris and Jess’s story is truly heartwarming and goes to prove one is never to old for a happy ever after. This story really made me smile and even literally laugh out loud at times. I loved the banter between Doris and Jess hard as they tried to deny the magnet drawing them together it was just to strong to resist. I especially love getting to visit with Brooke and Blayne again from Blown into Romance. Shanna Hatfield knows just how to do the combination of characters from one story to another. Shanna Hatfield can write wonderful stories period. This is definitely a story to add to your must read Christmas stories this Holiday season
Oh, how I loved this sweet and wonderful novella just in time for the Christmas holiday. This story has everything in it, two almost octogenarians who are both widowed, feisty and act like the hate each other when they used to be great friends.
She has been set up by her grandson to take care of their neighbor who she seems to detest and doesn’t want to do it but she is stuck.
He is feeling the same way and doesn’t want this crazy woman around him but he does need help.
This story had me laughing so hard at their tone, words, and actions toward the other when you can sort of tell there that this is not real.
They start to get along sort of, but some of the things they say and do just had me laughing.
This author really knows how to write really fun characters no matter what age they are but this story was so different and had more sarcasm and funny scenes than this author normally writes.
This is one you have to get because it is so good and you will laugh and feel so good after reading it and there is a piglet names Pigtails in it that is so cute.
I received this ARC from the author to read without pressure or expectations to do a review or any compensation, but I did one as I loved this story and haven’t laughed this hard in a while.
Don’t miss this short novella as it is so delightful and fun and you’ll have to see if there is a happy ending as I am not telling.
I would love to give this more than 5 stars but I can’t.
this is a great Christmas story, but it is also a great story, love that this was a story about a second chance at love for an older couple. both are widows and have children , the kids are all for the two to get together, Jess is in love with Doris but she feels like she is betraying her late husband to admit she loves Jess. I was given a copy of the story but this is an honest reveiw, if you want to read an uplifting story this is the book to read.
Short, sweet, clean, second chance at romance with a little bit of Christmas miracle sprinkled in. Such incredible characters and story. Jess Milne a neighboring rancher lost his wife many years ago. Doris Grundy lost her husband as well and the long time friends. Jess begins to discover that his friendship with Doris has slipped into love and wants a relationship with her. Doris is emotionally struggling with her feelings for Jess and her devotion to her wedding vows. You won’t want to put this book down!!
This is my review of Sleigh Bells Ring In Romance (Christmas In Romance Series-Book 1) by Shanna Hatfield. Sleigh Bells Ring in Romance by Shanna Hatfield is the first book in a new series. What a start it is off too! This is the story of Doris Grundy and Jess Milne. Doris and Jess have been neighbour and friends for over half their life. Both have lost their spouses and Jess has come to realize he has more then friendship on his mind when it comes to Doris. This is where the problem lies, even through Doris also has “more” then friendship feeling for Jess she is too scared to admit it. She feels like she would be betraying her husband. But, with Jess recovering from knee surgery, Doris has agreed to help out. Ok, it took some doing to get her to agree to it. This is where things get interesting and fun! Who said Love was better when your younger? These two are going to prove you wrong. Love is love at any age. I laughed, I cheered and I even got a little misty eyed over this very heartwarming Christmas Romance. Come fall in love with Doris and Jess, you will be so glad you did. This charming Christmas Romance is available for pre-order and will be released on November 1st. Be sure to add it to you Christmas reading list, you will be so glad you did.
The banter between Jess and Doris is priceless!
I have to admit going into this story, I was prepared not to like it. It is, after all, the love story of an 80-year-old couple. With Shanna Hatfield’s usual humor and character descriptions and dialog perfectly fitting each tale she weaves, I should have known it would be a delightful read. So, no matter what your age, you will enjoy this heartwarming holiday romance.
Ms. Hatfield returns to the town of Romance, Oregon, with this novella for the story of Jess Milne and Doris Grundy. Jess and Doris are long-time neighbors and friends who both lost their spouses years ago. Over time, that friendship has been growing into more; however, feeling like they would be betraying their marriages and too old to fall in love again, they have refused to acknowledge it. After Jess finally makes peace with his decision, he sets out to convince Doris, with the help of her grandson and his new wife, through a series of hilarious and sweet gestures. As snow begins to fall on Christmas Eve, Jess takes Doris for a sleigh ride decked out in bells and with a ring in his pocket. Will she finally accept that love comes to all ages and sometimes twice in a lifetime?
This is Book 2 of Welcome To Romance, but is also part of the Christmas In Romance Series.
I received a free Kindle copy of this book. I volunteered to read it and write a review.
Update: I purchased a Kindle edition as well.
An enjoyable story. Another good story by Shanna Hatfield.
Best opening scene EVER!
I love this older couple romance story. Jess and Doris have been friends for many years and their spouses have been gone for a long time, but why does it feel as if Doris is betraying her husband? Jess had already worked through those emotions and decided it was time that he move on with his life. For Doris, it is taking longer. Jess has been trying to get Doris’ attention, but she just refuses to see him as anything but a friend. Will Jess be able to change her mind?
This wonderful story is a MUST READ.
This is a beautiful, heartwarming story about finding love after loss. Jess and Doris had been friends for along time. They had both lost their spouses and were walking through life alone until they each saw what was right in front of them. This is an amazing, heartwarming story with wonderful characters and a beautiful storyline that will melt your heart. If you only have time to read one book this holiday season THIS IS IT.
You’re never too old to fall in love!
My rating is 4.5 stars
Another fun Christmas novella by Shanna Hatfield!
I really enjoy stories where the hero is completely in love with the heroine and not afraid to let her know. And handsome Jess was in love with Doris. The fact that their families had been close made this even sweeter, in my opinion.
It was clever and fun the way the author carried on the pig theme from her previous book set in Romance. Doris’ grandson, Blayne, and his new wife, Brooke, still have the potbellied pigs she adopted in the previous story and named after the Winnie-the-Pooh characters. And now Jess has a pig that he claims is one he will be using for food, but everyone knows that the kindhearted rancher now has a pet. (And in case you missed it, Jess’ last name is Milne – the same as the author of the Pooh stories!)
The banter between Jess and Doris is amusing. The way they each tried so hard to pretend they weren’t attracted to the other was endearing.
This is another sweet Christmas story that would be a great addition to your library.

Wow, with each book that I read by Mrs. Hatfield, she becomes one my most favorite authors! Her stories truly never fail to capture my interest and keep me entertained. And I think Jess and Doris’s story has become one of my most favorite because of how their story proves that it is never to late for anyone to find their Happily Ever After. Although there were times in the story that I really wanted to throttle Doris because of her bullheadedness on not wanting to give Jess a chance even though it was obvious she loved him. But in the end I was so happy she was able to move on and be happy with someone who so obviously loved her. Thank you so much Mrs. Hatfield for another great story and I can’t wait to keep reading your books!
