I was so excited when this series was brought back to life and can say I’m not disappointed in the direction that it is heading. In this next book of the series Aurora is getting into her routine as a new mother. When Robin, Roes husband has to go out of town to receive an award she wonders if she will be able to handle everything herself. As Robin is leaving Aurora turns up sick so he hires Virginia who helped them when they first brought the baby home to help her out. A few days later on a stormy night Roe is awakened by her babies cries. While investigating she realizes Virginia is nowhere to be found so she wakes her half-brother up to help search. During the search they find a body in the backyard who isn’t Virginia. Roe thinks she looks familiar but isn’t sure who it could be. Follow along as Aurora tries to figure out if she wants to return to work at the library, who the strange woman is in the backyard, and what exactly happened to Virginia.
I received an ARC of this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I have been waiting to read this book…just love the series about Roe Teagarden! All her books are cozy cottage reads with solid plots, wonderful people and small town appeal along with the realities of busy bodies, gossip and rumors.
Robin and Roe have a beautiful baby girl, Sophie, and life is good. But reality hits with Robin traveling and Roe sick with little back up help. She has her younger brother Philip amd hires her nanny nurse to help out. Virginia seems great and Roe tries to rest up.
The author does a great job of showing home life with a new baby. It quickly becomes a mystery as Virginia goes missing and Rie finds a dead body in her backyard. Great scares and the humor keeps it a cozy mystery…..the neighbors from hell are convinced Roe is just out to ruin the neighborhood. Then there are the two sisters living behind Roe and Philip is dating and Roe hears the her mother’s new husband had a heart attack. You know what they say about bad things happen in groups of three??
Learned about nanny cams, break ins and security systems. The mystery starts with flowers which seem so innocent, then miscommunication leads to Roe not being aware of a person with a grudge. Roe and Robin make a great team and I hope they continue to solve crime. 4.5 stars..read it in one sitting and just enjoyed seeing the characters again!
Sleep Like a Baby is one of the Aurora Teagarten cozy mystery series. I enjoy this series, and this is a good addition. As a former medical writer, however, I had concerns about the way the heroine in the book exposes several people — including her new baby — to her flu. But other than that, I enjoyed the book.
Depends too much on knowing characters from previous books and the ending seems far fetched.
My rating is 3 1/2 stars.
The majority of this book was spent with Aurora having the flu and breastfeeding her new baby. I am sorry to say that I got a little bored reading this
This works better if you’ve read the other books in the series, but a worthy addition

Well this was quite the read!! Blasts from the past, sorrow, fear and a LOT of baby talk.
Robin and Roe have had a baby – Sophie and she is their everything [naturally]. When Sophie is several months old, Robin has to go to an event where he is up to win an award and as he is leaving, Roe gets the flu and is very, very, sick. The woman they have helping them with Sophie while Roe is sick disappears and a woman is found dead in their backyard and the craziness starts there and just continues on and on.
There were some moments where I just wasn’t sure where they were going and then there were moments when I just could not handle one more mention of Sophie being fed and diapered etc. And there were absolutely moments of frustration at just HOW FREAKING clueless Roe and Robin were – like she hasn’t been consistently solving mysteries for the previous NINE books. I had a couple “bang my head against the wall” moments.
Overall, it was a good read and if this is the last one, it was a good one to go out on and I am not unhappy with it. But I wouldn’t be unhappy if she decided to revisit Roe and Robin and Sophie again!! ;-
Crazy twist at the end, Kept me guessing all the way through.
This is book 10 in this series. I enjoyed the read. Therese Plummer is the narrator of this book. Therese is wonderful she keeps your interest with her great voice.
I really enjoy the Aurora Teagarden mysteries!
Another great Roe Story! I love the path this series has taken! They are always a fun read that leaves me very satisfied and wanting more! I did miss some of the familiar characters from previous books, but still a great story.
Love all the Charlaine Harris books and series. Good character building. Can be read alone but I like to read them in order and read the whole series.
I like this author. This is a good book, but not the best in the series. I’m glad to see that Charlene Harris is writing mysteries again. The characters are good and the writing is excellent. I rated this book 4 stars only because it’s not quite as good as others in the series, but otherwise it would rate a 5.
Another great character created by Charlaine Harris. Loved it.
I love Charlaine Harris books. She out does herself again in her newest installment of the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries. In this book Aurora and Robin are now new parents and Philip still lives with them. As they adjust to the new lives with newborn Sophie. Robin is up for a big writers award and has to travel out-of-town to receive the award. Roe is feeling under the weather, so Robin calls Ms. Virginia to come help Roe out with the baby. While Robin is gone Ms Virgina goes missing and a dead woman turns up in the back yard. Who is this dead woman? How did she come to be in Roe’s yard? And more importantly where is Ms. Virginia?
This book was really suspenseful. There were some moments where I covered my mouth and was like oh no! There were some scary moments too. I love this series. I really enjoyed the story. Ms Harris is an excellent writer, capturing her audience with her writing skills. Her stories are fast paced and exciting. You will think you have the story all figured out and then the twist comes and you are like what?! No Way! I love the characters in this series. The characters are people you can relate to, dealing with real problems. Aurora is a librarian and Roe is a famous writer. They have dated earlier on in the series then he moved away. He then came back right around the time of her husband Martian’s death. I always liked the chemistry between her and Robin and her brother Philip is such a sweet kid, you can’t help but love him.
This series is also been made into Hallmark movies. If you love a good cozy mystery this is the series for you. I suggest you go out and pick up the first one Real Murders.

Series: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery – Book 10
Author: Charlaine Harris
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Publisher: Minotaur Books
In Sleep Like a Baby, the latest installment of the #1 New York Times Best-selling Charlaine Harris’s Aurora Teagarden series, Roe is a new mom with a dead woman in her backyard. She is sick and has a missing babysitter as well. Are the two events related or just coincidence? It is up to Roe to find out and quickly. The dead woman is ultimately revealed as Robin’s stalker and a woman who had tried to kill Roe in the past.
This is a heartwarming story of relationships, adventures in childcare and murder. The characters are well developed and have endearing personalities. Roe is a typical new mother, exhausted and proud, as well as worried. Readers with young children or new mothers will have no problem relating to Roe and everything she is going through.
The murder investigation is not as detailed as some readers may like, and in truth would not be very realistic. Having one of the lead detectives in the investigation as an old friend of the main character is a scenario that would, in real life, rarely, if ever, occur. A true detective would excuse himself from the investigation as being biased. However, this aside, the characters are beautifully written with just the right amount of eccentricities to make them believable.
Ms. Harris has a smooth, easy writing style and can tell a story. The book was not as fast-paced as others in the series and got bogged down with all the new baby and relationship issues. Unfortunately, the story seemed more about the new parents, their recent marriage, and Roe’s brother than about the murder and the victim. The main character, Roe did little to no investigation. The solution and unveiling of the killer was more of an accident than any real clues.
Sleep Like a Baby is a good story if the reader likes personal issues involved in their mysteries more than evidence or suspects and is interspersed with a family dynamic.
