This life no longer owns me. Only she does.MaxThis life. It’s a game, a very dangerous game where the losers always pay with their lives. To win big, you have to take risks.I always played to win because I had nothing to lose.Until the game changed, and the stakes became too high.I finally had something…someone…to keep safe. But winning big meant I could have it all.So I took a final risk to secure … safe.
But winning big meant I could have it all.
So I took a final risk to secure my future with Sloane.
I wanted it all, and it was finally within reach.
I broke the code.
I violated trust.
I lost focus…
And the one I vowed to always love and protect.
Sloane
I let myself fall in love with a monster.
And even though his soul is black as death, his heart is pure.
But only I can see it.
I was warned to stay away from Max Oriani, that I’d become a target, that I’d be…
Taken.
Or worse.
But the nightmare of living without him would be torture of the worst kind.
So I didn’t listen.
I gave him everything I have.
And now I have to pay the price…
If I have any hopes of seeing him again.

The Mob Series by Kristen is awesome. Slaying the Mob is the second book in Max and Sloane’s duet. It’s not a standalone and I would recommend reading all the books in the series in order. There are storylines that flow through.
The writing us fantastic and engaging. The story is full of action and suspense. Max and Sloane have hot chemistry. There were also some very emotional scenes. This series has it all and the characters are super likable and have depth.
Slaying the Mob is Book 4 in this series. The author keeps you Hooked From The very first page. Max never had anything to worry about because there was never anyone or anything that was important to him. Now he has Sloane in his life. He seems to always screw it up with her but at the end of the day he loves her and tries to keep her safe. Has he been able to do that or has Sloane become a target because of Max? Another amazing book in the series. Loved it!!
SLAYING THE MOB is book two in the “Max & Sloane Duet” and it is not meant to be read as a stand-alone. SLM picks right up where BETRAYING THE MOB finishes.
I will not give anything away other than to say – HOLY MOLY THIS WAS A RIDE!!! The action is FIERCE and unexpected at times. I turned pages so quickly I never had to think about which bookmark I was going to use (typically a scrap piece of paper) or if I had time to finish the next day. I devoured this story.
Kristen Luciani is “one-click” author for me (which I always like to disclose because I don’t want to be accused of writing a biased review) and I am so glad that I have started to collect her paperbacks. There is something about holding onto the tangible part of the story that I just love.
As with all of the other stories in the “Mob Lust Series”, this story flows well from beginning to end. We get to see how stories are continuing and intertwining with each other and this one was a bit more emotional than the others.
I am anxiously awaiting the next story in this wonderful series.
Max is the ultimate bad boy. He’s a bad guy and he’s ruthless when it comes to taking lives. Sloane is good. She’s wholesome, kind and will do anything to help others. Max will do everything he can to stay away and keep her out of his life. Sloane is ready for Max to move on and quit shattering her heart with disappointment.
The writing in this series is extraordinary. Slaying the Mob kept me on the edge of my seat from the first page. It’s intense and raw. I felt like the characters were created for me to fall in love with. The danger, suspense and brutality remind you that this is a mafia story. The love, hope and forgiveness keep your heart wrapped in this story.
Pick up this amazing story now and continue the saga of Max and Sloane.
Slaying The Mob picks up right where Betraying The Mob leaves off. Kristen Luciani’s Mob List series will have any reader hooked from the start, even if you’ve never been a mob story fan.
Slaying The Mob gives you more of Max’s story. He has loved Sloane for so long but his life is dangerous and every time he gives in and pulls her close, his life gets in the way. His internal fight between doing right by the family, standing by his dad and getting the woman he needs is almost too much for him.
Sloane loves Max and no matter how much she tries to stand her ground and move on with her life without him, every time he shows up at her door, she let’s him right back in. She knows he is dangerous but no one can give her what Max does.
Read this series! It’s amazing! I can’t wait to see what’s next from Kristen Luciani!
Great Book!
I’m loving this series!
Max and Sloane were great! Max will do anything to protect those he loves! Max loves Sloane very much! Slaying the Mob was a very emotional story with a lot of action, drama and suspense!
I love this series and I’m anxiously waiting for the next book in this!
I should of known by the first one that this author would be sneaky and this one would surpass it. Max and Sloane carry on in this one taking us by the nose. Good thing cause finger still in recovery from burns but at times they get more from this. The emotions that will be squeezed from you from the drama will leave you spent so refuel often. I would not mind a Max in my life in regards to the intense stuff too. So be careful us the reader also gets slayed too.
Slaying starts off right at the point Betraying ends and let me tell you – that was an intense opening. Max is still trying to figure out where Sloane fits into his life and he is trying to do right by Nico and the family. Trouble is coming but no one knows when or where, only to be prepared. As all that Max values is threatened, he learns that he needs to control his temper and work with rather than against all of the forces in his life. Kristen Luciani writes mob stories like no other. There are so many emotions in this story that are all felt as the characters feel them, hurt, rage, horror, desperation, humor and love. Such a rush!
Max is a loose cannon! He’s a mobster, kills and reacts before he thinks! Yet, the author had me so in love with him!
Sloane knows she should steer clear of Max. He is trouble with a capital T! But, the heart wants what it wants. She knows he’s dangerous and he lies, but that doesn’t stop her. Can she get him to become the man she wants him to be?
Max tries very hard to be what Sloane wants him to be. But, if he reacts to his feelings for her, then he puts her life in danger! His mind tells him to leave her alone, she doesn’t need someone like him but his other parts…doesn’t want anyone else to have her!
Great story! So many twists and turns and holy smokes what an ending!
