This finally has my curiosity settled. Stories in those cities were not in nick’s best interest, he would get off to a good start but would get sidetracked.
I received an advanced copy, voluntarily but this is my review.
Slaying in Salem, the second book in the Capital City Murders series brings about a new adventure for Nick O’Flannigan, professional photographer. In Salem to take picture of the Capitol Building, he gets embroiled in a recent murder at a local asylum. Nick’s keen eye, along with help from his former college friend and journalist, will help police catch the killer. This well-researched novella was a fun read. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
Nick O’Flannigan is a relatable character. He has a good job, but he strays from his chief objective from time to time. He is endeared to us because he is not perfect. He walks with a limp and he had dreams of going into the NBA until those dreams were shattered, along with his knee. To make up for the knee, he has an incredibly keen eye that allows him to help local police solve recent crimes. There are a few unexpected twists in this tale which keep the reader guessing whodunit. These stories are short, but action-packed and leave the reader passionately craving the next instalment. The facts about the Oregon State Hospital are sad, but interesting. Kudos for the information about the Oregon State Capitol Building. These novellas are fun to read and informative as well.
Nick is on a journey around the State capitals for his project to take photographs in each, this is his second destination and he once again gets involved in a murder investigation, he has spotted a clue that the police have missed.
I really like Nick’s character and the concept of him visiting each state capital and helping solve mysteries in each is very clever. I also like the way the mystery is told in this book, it really did keep me guessing until the end.
Slaying in Salem
This is book 2 in an amazing series covering 50 states in 50 weeks! Nick O’Flannigan, the freelance photographer, is at it again. A new city, a new murder! Nick goes around taking his pictures, meeting up with a high school friend and wondering if the police have the right person in jail Before you will allow yourself to put this book down Nick will have gotten in deep and solved the murder!
One thing I love about these books are that you’re going to learn something interesting about every capital of every state, maybe about the state flower, flag or song, but always a history lesson that you’ll really enjoy!
Spooky goings on in Salem, once again Nick spots a clue to the murderer that the police have missed.
We are finding out a little more about Nick and his love of photography and his uncanny knack of seeing what’s in the detail.
Book 2 is continuing the good style that Book 1 had started.
I received this audiobook for free from #storyorigin app and wanted to leave an honest review.
