“Morgan Rice has come up with what promises to be another brilliant series, immersing us in a fantasy of valor, honor, courage, magic and faith in your destiny. Morgan has managed again to produce a strong set of characters that make us cheer for them on every page.…Recommended for the permanent library of all readers that love a well-written fantasy.” –Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos … Mattos (regarding Rise of the Dragons)
From #1 Bestselling author Morgan Rice comes a sweeping new fantasy series.
17 year old Ceres, a beautiful, poor girl in the Empire city of Delos, lives the harsh and unforgiving life of a commoner. By day she delivers her father’s forged weapons to the palace training grounds, and by night she secretly trains with them, yearning to be a warrior in a land where girls are forbidden to fight. With her pending sale to slavehood, she is desperate.
18 year old Prince Thanos despises everything his royal family stands for. He abhors their harsh treatment of the masses, especially the brutal competition—The Killings—that lies at the heart of the city. He yearns to break free from the restraints of his upbringing, yet he, a fine warrior, sees no way out.
When Ceres stuns the court with her hidden powers, she finds herself wrongfully imprisoned, doomed to an even worse life than she could imagine. Thanos, smitten, must choose if he will risk it all for her. Yet, thrust into a world of duplicity and deadly secrets, Ceres quickly learns there are those who rule, and those who are their pawns. And that sometimes, being chosen is the worst that can happen.
SLAVE, WARRIOR, QUEEN tells an epic tale of tragic love, vengeance, betrayal, ambition, and destiny. Filled with unforgettable characters and heart-pounding action, it transports us into a world we will never forget, and makes us fall in love with fantasy all over again.
Book #2–ROGUE, PRISONER, PRINCESS–is also available!

My first for Morgan Rice but definitely a thumbs up
Rebellion, women’s rights, bloodstained weapons, and a dash of romance, what more can a girl ask for? Unfortunately it wasn’t delivered as the synopsis promised.
Perhaps the most prominent let down was seeing the potential that this book had, the plot was truly a good idea. However, it wasn’t executed in a way that I found inspirational or so I became particularly emotionally invested in.
I can honestly say that I enjoyed reading about Rexus, one of Ceres love intrests and leader in the Rebellion against royalty; Akila another commander of the Rebellion; Apollo, a young slave commoner sentenced to death. The characters were interesting to read about, but often we were not given enough time to get truly attached to them before we were separated- either by capture or death.
I have to say that I thought Ceres to be too powerful. Often times books will balance power with loss, such as in some of my favorite books A Court of Wings and Ruin and Fire, but in this book Ceres didn’t seem to go through the emotions to the extent of needing to protect herself or others. It was kind of like knocking on a strangers door and them handing you a wad of cash without even knowing your name. You have to get to know yourself/others before you can expect help from it (don’t you think it’s weird that I talk about power as if it were separate from it’s host?), and I felt that there was not near enough emotion, or desperation for her to wield her power.
Let’s talk about Thanos. I think it’s awesome that he sees the problem with the class separation, I think he has a fantastic name, I think him with his mad weapon skills is, while not entirely earned, is pretty impressive. I do not think his “love” is correctly named. I mean Ceres seems awesome with her weapon knowledge, and she has some awesome characteristics, but I don’t think that you can fall in love with someone you hardly know, and they spend hardly enough time to foster a crush into something more special.
While this book did not really entertain me as it seemed to go through the motions more than really experiencing things, I did not hate it. I do not intend to offend anyone with my opinions and if you are curious, I whole heartedly think you should check it out.
Too many unanswered questions at the end
Great series
I thought it was an amazing book and got me hooked to go the next one. At first it wasn’t what I was expecting. Something I wouldn’t usually read but after a few chapters in it kept me going.
Ceres is sold by her stepmother as a slave, she escapes to become a warrior in the arena, and then she escapes chains as an inmate to find her true destiny and proper use of her powers to save her kingdom. She loves Prince Thanos, and the two of them could lead a revolt to overturn their corrupt kingdom.
Loved this book.Great author,I have read alot of her books
It was hard to put down because what comes next became suck a big interest. Main characters kept you guessing about what was going to happen to them.
Good book , I liked Quest of Heroes better. But I liked it well enough that I plan to view the second book in the series. This book ‘s flaw for me is that — sometimes things must occur sequentially. A then B then C then D then E. Sometimes this book jumps from A to E , and you say wait I know this is somewhat like sci fi, Can one get from A directly to E. Is it physically possible without explanation. good story, entertaining. I liked it.
Liking looking. For next book
A very good read
I need to read the next book! I didn’t realize it was a series when I bought it. This series would make a great movie!
Great young female heroine. You root for her and those she cares for. Definitely want to read more of her story – this is just the start.
I loved this book it was action packed, but romantic. Tragic but happy, and I loved every minute of it.
An exciting read.
I love these books! It’s a fun way to let your imagination take you to another world!
Loved, loved this book series. I highly recommend it!
Entertaining and a page turner. Enjoyed getting to know the main characters and move from adventure to adventure. Looking for the next in the series
This entire series was great. I think I read the 5 books in under a week. Hard to put down. Great characters, great world building, great plots. Just great. Highly recommend it.
This is my first Morgan Rice book, but I guarantee you … it won’t be my last! I didn’t stop reading until I had finished it, it’s that good of a page turner.
The characters grab a hold of you right from the beginning and Morgan deftly pens in their surroundings: you can see the blade maker’s work shed and the market place, hear the clash of weapons and smell the sweat, hot sand and blood in the arena. And you can feel their fear.
My biggest void after finishing the first in this series is her power. What is it and how did she get it? Guess I’ll just have to go get Book 2!!!
… and I do hope she gets to kill off that nasty Queen and Princess!
