Jessie
My boss cancels my long-awaited holiday at a resort in Mexico to send me on a boring business trip.
The client is in some backwoods British Columbia boonies, where I’ll have to spend a few days info-gathering and documenting the operations there.
It’s not in my regular job description. But we need the business and we can’t spare anyone else.
Great. Instead of a trip featuring drinks on … Instead of a trip featuring drinks on a sunny beach with my friends, I’m going to a quarry.
With…well, rocks. Yeah. Lots of rocks.
Sounds like party…not!
Slate
I’ve planned and worked for years to get this quarry off the ground.
Part of my great-grandfather’s property, mining the rock deposits here was his fondest dream. He wanted a long-term legacy for his family.
But the Depression intervened and his plans turned to dust.
The property laid dormant for eighty years before it was passed down the line to me.
Times have changed and it’s my mission now. And I’ll be damned if I let the smug corporate vultures around here pick it clean. Why should I? They’re not the only game in town.
Turns out, my ancestor unknowingly left an ace in the hole for me.
And when I play it, Fate literally moves a mountain to make all my dreams come true.
This is an older man, younger woman, insta-love romance! No cliffy, no cheating and a loving HEA!

Jessie is ready for her vacation but at the last minute her boss sends her to a slate mine in British Columbia. Slate is trying to restart the mine his great grandfather had tried before a depression a century ago. Needing insurance, Jessie is there to document the area and business. The two have instant feelings for each other and when the road gets shut down for a week, they have time to really learn about each other and things skyrocket.
The characters are well written with great backstories and intense feelings. The storyline is believable with plenty of surprises, drama and romance. Loved the locale and the banter between the two. The ending was perfect. A truly wonderful romance story with all the feels.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Jessie has no idea her life will drastically change when she misses a much needed vacation. Slate has made it his mission to restart the dreams of his great grandfather. The mine is what brings them together while fate knows they were meant to be all along. The more time spent together, they are convinced of it also. This was a sweet love story with great characters.

They have a connection but when the road back to town is blocked they have a chance to get to know each other.

I really enjoyed the story of Jessie and Slate, the surroundings were well described and the characters were well written. Jessie meets Slate when she is sendt to his property in the mountains to obtain information and pictures of the land and his mining company that he needs insurance for. They feel an instant attraction and when Jessie is forced to stay for two weeks because the road gets closed, they get a chance to get to know one another.

Finding love in the wilds of British Columbia
Slate Mountain Man is the tenth book in the Men on a Mission series and is the story of Slate Jensen and Jessie Rickman. This is a fast-paced, insta-love story with an interesting twist on the story-line and well developed characters who had enough heat to thaw the snowcap of Slate Mountain.
I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Slate Jensen has worked and planned for years, and now he wants to mine the slate deposits on the mountain his grandfather left him. Slate’s great-grandfather originally wanted to mine the slate deposits, but the depression hit and plans changed. Jessie Rickman’s Mexico trip is canceled by her boss at IGI who sends her on a business trip to British Columbia, Canada to info gather, take pictures, and document operations for a client looking to acquire insurance for his mining operations. Slate and Jessie share a mutual attraction for each other that grows as they spend more time together and getting to know each other. Slate knows Jessie is special and the one for him after seeing how she bonded with his dog. As Slate and Jessie’s relationship turns intimate, can Slate convince Jessie to take a chance on him and stay in British Columbia with him? Will Jessie follow her heart or head home after her 2 week stay? I loved Slate Mountain Man by Kate Gilead. The chemistry between Slate and Jessie is explosive and hot. This is the tenth book in the Men on a Mission series, it can be read as a standalone story. No cliffhangers and a sweet HEA.
I found the storyline to be a bit slow in the beginning, it did pick up as the story progressed. I liked both Slate and Jessie, really likable and down to earth characters, really relatable. Their chemistry is sizzling from the beginning right up to their HEA. Entertaining story.
Slate & Jessica were so adorable together! OMG, I loved following their journey to happiness.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyone – It’s a beautifully written story that completely captivated me!

This is the first book I’ve read from this author. I like her style and she brings you into the story as if you are there with the characters. Slate has his own mountain of raire stone “Slate” and is looking for insurance. Jessi is sent by her boss to go to British Columbia to check out the mine. Jessie really wanted to go to Mexico with her girlfriends but she’ll help her boss out. Both she and Slate feel and instant attraction to one another and they slowly develop their attraction towards each other. It’s like a slow burn ready to explode. And it sure does. I’ll check out some other books by this author as I enjoyed this story so much. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This romance was really fun to read. It is well written, has a good storyline and really well balanced characters. It is one of those without a villain and he is not being missed. Overall it is sweet, well balanced between romance and storytelling. So it really deserves the fabulous very rare five stars I am giving it here.

This book has all the makings for a refreshing romantic story between the beautiful Jessie and attractive Slate. The connection is instantaneous from both, with complete respect and admiration for the other. Like how they become friends and understand one another’s goals and values. Fate does seem to take a hand in providing more time, which helps this couple along the way. Absolutely, loved the epilogues because that’s truly how a loving family is together.

This series just jets better and better! Slate is just a mischievous man, he makes the whole book fun! Alpha and driven and kind and possessive and sexy! Slate is determined that Jessie, or Jessica Rabbit as he’s names her, that is his future, and has been from the start! Jessie, in turn, is a remarkable woman. Soft in speech and in manner, she face change and challenges and new experiences with courage and grace. Her loving nature wins over first Slate’s dog Trixie, and then Slate himself. And I must say, Trixie is a treat! This is definitely a book I will be reading again!
