Ky Three years ago my father walked away. Away from our MC club, all his responsibilities, and me. We haven’t spoken since the day he handed me the keys to the kingdom. Shoved them down my throat was more like it. I hate him, and the new family he’s playing house with. He left his entire life behind for a woman he barely knows. But I’m strong, resilient, and don’t need a damn soul to survive. At … damn soul to survive.
At least, that’s what I thought…until she walked into my bar.
Kira
Someone is watching me. I can feel it. I wake up in the middle of the night freaked out of my mind, paranoid a stranger is there. My skin prickles every time I leave my house, because I know someone is following me.
I’m afraid. Alone. And there’s only one person left to turn to.
The stepbrother I never met. The man my stepfather speaks so highly about, but never sees. He’s the president of a notorious motorcycle club, and exactly the kind of person I need to protect me.
Little did I know, Ky Parish, freakin’ hates my guts.
Slashes in the Snow is an enemies to lovers, stepbrother romance, romantic suspense (emphasis on romance) with dark elements. Reader discretion is advised.

*can be read as a stand-alone or there is a prequel & a book after this one that are other character stories. I did not read any of the others, this review is solely this book.
Kira has a gut feeling that someone is watching/stalking her but no evidence to turn to the police. Since she’s graduating college in 4 weeks and will be traveling to Paris to meet up with her mother & stepfather she is all alone in the huge house. She turns to her step brother she has never met, who is the President of a MC, but he resents her for the relationship she has with his dad.
It’s labeled an enemies to lovers, but the enemy factor is more stubbornness (IMO). The storyline was intriguing and theres a few curve balls that make you question what the hell is going on.
My favorite part of this book was that although Ky is a ‘badass’ MC president, he isn’t scared to express his feelings. When he’s scared of losing Kira he spills his guts with no remorse and it’s refreshing. So often we have anti-hero’s who are to prideful to show they’re scared of the girl having the upper hand. In this book, there is times where Kira holds the cards and Ky has to hope for Kira to allow him back in.
I would’ve loved to seen more MC action for Ky and the others but overall it was a great read; fast burn, easy read!
One of the most well-crafted romances I have ever read. I keep coming back to this one again and again.
I liked the story. Slightly forbidden with step siblings who never met after parents married 3 years ago. He is all dominant alpha biker prez and she is soft, and scared out of her mind. She seeks his help while her stepfather and mom are in Paris. She is being stalked. Liked the premise behind the plot and the twists as to who was behind it. Hated how horrible hawk was to Kira. And how quick Ky was to discount their love and turn on her. I felt like it should have been more kissed at him and she should have made hawk work for it more. Yes it was out of protection and love but it was over the top. Loved the end.
A Stunningly Beautiful, Soul Touching Story… “Slashes in the Snow” by M. Never is a stunningly beautiful, soul touching story. It is a story of surviving unimaginable abuse at the hands of family, and the struggle involved to fight your way back to being emotionally and physically whole. And about the strength it takes to learn to trust again, to love again, and to allow yourself to be loved.
It is the story of Ky. A young man thrust unexpectedly into the role of MC President. A man filled with rage, mistrust, and hatred, hindered by immense feelings of abandonment towards his father, Baum MC’s former president. And Kira, an emotionally fragile survivor of horrific abuse at the hands of her father, now being tortured by an unseen stalker. A young woman desperate for help when fear pushes her to the brink. Fear that pushes her to reach out to the one person she thinks can help despite never having met him in person, her stepbrother, Ky. A stepbrother who views Kira as a thief, one partly responsible for his father’s departure from their MC and his life. A stepbrother who spews venom at the woman he perceives to be the child chosen over him by his father Gerard.
A stepbrother, who when confronted in the flesh by Kira in her anguished bid for safety, reacts in ways completely foreign to him, sending him spiraling out, desperate to grasp onto any bit of rational understanding he can. As the woman he once thought he hated sparks protective and possessive instincts within him he didn’t know he possessed. Resulting in an explosion of emotionally charged chaos. And a suspense filled journey of danger, betrayal, unexpected love, loyalty, growth, and redemption that will leave you breathless.
This is an impeccably written book. It is a heart-pounding, fast-paced tale that keeps your senses on a razor’s edge. A riveting, torturous journey through rage, terror, unexpected love, and forgiveness so powerful it will cleave your chest open and lay your heart bare. The path Ky and Kira take together is irrevocably as beautiful as it is painful.
My only point of contention with this beautiful story is the resolution between Ky and Gerard. The absolutely gut wrenching scenario between them, the pivotal events that break them apart, the misunderstandings, the hurt feelings, every single thing that for chapter after soul shattering chapter makes your heart bleed for Ky. Makes you ache mercilessly with him, sharing in his torturous feelings of betrayal and abandonment. Makes you struggle with him and Kira as they navigate his triggers and defensive outbursts caused by the deep emotional and psychological scars brought about by Gerard’s actions.
In reality, as it is written on the page, Gerard is partly responsible for Ky’s emotional state. Yet in the end it is only Ky who shoulders the blame and gains clarity over his reactions to it all, as well as, how he responds outwardly because of it. It was honestly enraging to read because it was wholly one-sided. And it should not have been. Ky was not solely to blame. Gerard was an integral part in it all. Yet only Ky was expected to grow, mature, and learn from the many mistakes made. This half-hearted resolution to such a pivotal thread of the overall story. A foundational thread that sets the stage for everything that comes after, churned my stomach into painful knots and left me angry.
This book is so beautiful. And despite the bloody shards of unfulfilled resolution that literally carved my soul in two… It remains, for me, a must read as it is simply too powerful to be ignored.
I loved this book so hard! MNever NEVER disappoints! This story was completely original and had me glued to the pages!
This is poor, poor writing. And I’m sorely disappointed.
I was convinced to read Slashes in the Snow by lots of amazing reviews and the fact that one of my favourite authors promoted this book. I absolutely see how authors promoting each others work benefits them, but this read has most definitely affected how I view said author.
Slashes in the Snow is over the top clichéd. In itself, that doesn’t have to make the read a bad one. But unfortunately, that’s not the only thing bringing this book down. The dynamics between the two main characters is very crudely rendered. And how their relationship evolves isn’t even remotely believable. Instant physical attraction and intense feelings of dislike, but once they jump each others bones they’re in love. Ky is as volatile as a toddler with the tantrums to match. One moment he tells Kira to kill herself, the next he loves her but is pissed that she’s hesitant to forgive him.
And don’t get me starting on the writing itself. There were somany strange expressions. Or how about “brainwashing passion”, “slow but fitful fucking”, “chaotic grabbing”, a jaw that “tightens as severly as [his] balls”. Ky is “opressed by the weight of [Kira’s] ecstasy”. And apparently, Ky is also able to fly since he “hovers himself” over Kira.
Also, there are so many alliterations in there. How about Ky eating Kira out with no “reserve, restraint or repression.” Or Kira hearing “heavy, horrid, harrowing footsteps”?
And if there aren’t alliterations, everything is described three times. Ky’s “possessive, dominant, demanding”. He’s Kira’s “sworn disciple. A vowed protector. A pledged soldier”. Kira feels “weak, feeble and tamed.”
Reading this book was exhausting. And there is no end to all the super weird shag descriptions!
Ky “sucks monstrously” on Kira’s cl*t.
Ky’s c*ck “sharpens and swells, stabbing into [Kira] like a meaty knife”.
Or when Ky “pumps [his] ere*tion with bloodthirsty anticipation”.
There’s one truly dubious sentence where Kira is “concentrating on all the sensations [Ky’s] conjuring around the girth of his ere*tion”. Really?!?
There’s even a “huh, huh, huh, huh.” in there.
I’ll just end this review with the worst description of an orgasm I’ve ever read: “Something inside of me cracks, just crumbles right to pieces, and I fall, spiralling into a black abyss. No sound flows out of my mouth, just a silent gasp that seems to engulf me. That hold me hostage until Ky comes so deep and violent inside me, that for a flash I split right in two”.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t think that sounds comfortable at all. It resembles a death-scene more than anything.

I absolutely loved this book. Ky and Kira are a breathtaking couple. This is a never ending journey. Never a moment I didn’t love. The writing and flow of this book is done well. I highly recommend this book.
I Didn’t Feel The Tension & Drama I was Supposed Too!!

Slashes in the Snow: A Baum Squad novel #1
Ky is a dick, he can’t cope with own feelings & inadequacies so he speaks to Kira like trash!! He then gets stroppy, like a toddler, if she doesn’t immediately except his half arsed apologies! Yeah, I don’t care how hot he is, I’d throat punch him!!
I anticipated more depth in their backgrounds & characters. This seemed to concentrate on their personal romantic connection than anything else I just found the World building & overall storyline lacking, unfortunately!!

This is a dark, gritty, suspenseful, steamy, fast-paced romance. It is the story of an unlikely romance that bloomed between Ky and Kira, who just happen to be step siblings. It involves a not so stellar first meeting where Kira is asking Ky for help because she has the feeling she is being watched. It is a tale of stalking, haunting pasts that threaten futures, grudges, and finding someone from an unlikely situation. When Ky and Kira finally come together, their attraction is undeniable and sizzling hot! I loved the witty banter. Ky may think Kira is a princess, but she’s no wilting flower. She’s feisty, stronger than she is given credit for, and has a smartass mouth to boot. Ky is the leader of the MC club his father abandoned years ago to marry Kira’s mom. He’s broody, stubborn, sexy, loyal, and fights for what he believes in.
M. Never packs a lot into this quick read. I liked the plot and the characters. It was a good read and I recommend reading it if you like MC and stepsibling romances.

This is the first book in the Baum Squad Series, an amazing MC Romance/enemies to lovers/stepbrother romance/romantic suspense. Ky and and Kira’s story is fast-paced, action packed and suspenseful. The storyline is filled with intrigue, mystery and danger. Jacob Morgan and Muffy Newtown did an outstanding job with the narration. I would love to have the short Prequel, Snowfall, also in this audiobook. I enjoyed listening this story, and I highly recommend it!
This was absolutely my kind of read and I loved it.
Not your typical stepbrother romance. Kira is currently living alone in her mother’s big house and strange things begin to happen, she knows someone has been coming into the house, while she is asleep and when she is out, she also feels like she is being watched, so with her mother and stepfather away she seeks out Ky who she has heard a lot about from her new stepfather and hopes he can help her.
Ky is the president of an MC since his father abandoned the club for love and he hasn’t spoken to his father since. Ky is stubborn and a typical MC president, he’s hard, hot and a whole lot of stubborn.
Ky has a big chip on his shoulder regarding his father and views his father’s new relationship as not only the reason for abandoning Ky but the club too, so anyone associated with his father isn’t going to get a warm welcome and Kira definitely didn’t. Kira may be the step-sister he has never met but she certainly isn’t welcome with open arms. This is were the enemy to lovers trope comes into play.
I loved the angst, the hotness the progress from Ky and Kira’s hate relationship to becoming more, the changes in Ky as he began to let Kira in and the added bonus club business and danger in the plot.
This was an all-rounder for me, I really enjoyed it, a good girl meets a bad boy, I am a big fan of MC reads when written right and this certainly was written well by M Never, the balance was fantastic, I followed with ease and if this was a book I would no doubt have read in one sitting.
I listened to this in audio which was brilliantly narrated by the female narrator but the male narrator is either portraying Ky as a really, really laid back character or he just really has a voice that is monotone with not much feeling and emotion were it should have been, however, this did nor to take away my enjoyment from the story though.
TOLD IN FIRST PERSON DUAL POOV, LEADS TO HEARTWARMING HEA. Available in KU and Audio.
With Kira’s and mother in Paris she has no one else to turn to except her stepbrother Slash, her stepfather has always spoken highly of him and she thought he would help her, not the reception she gets when she gets to the bar and that Ky would hate her on site.
With the attraction to Kira he knew he has to help her regardless of his feelings for his father. No one saw anything she was talking about indicating that she was being stalked and when Hawk shows Ky a folder, he chooses to believe what in it and walks away, only when a delivery arrives he realises he should have listened to Kira.
Ky knows that Kira is everything to him, he wants to know from her what was in the folder, hearing he realises that maybe he misjudged his father and agrees with Kira to try to work things out. Finally, when Kira recognises someone, Ky knows who her stalker is, and it’s never been about her, but have they found out to late to save Kira.
First time reading this author and it was good!! Slash and Snow chemistry was HOT. This book had awesome characters and well written. I look forward to reading more from this author. Loved the book.
This was a hot & sexy MC book full of action & suspense. Loved the audio – the narrators were perfect.
An amazingly captivating, entertaining, suspenseful, and steamy story. Ky and Kira are perfectly imperfect, and I loved it.
This was a fast read but very enjoyable, the characters were a very pleasant surprise to discover. I totally thought the story was heading to another direction but I’m glad I was mistaken. Ky personal story is very obscure we don’t know why he is so mad or angry with life and someone who is very close to him but with time we get to understand why he was that way, always trying to put wall before building a connection with anyone. Kiera has also some dark secrets to hide. her past really marked her and left her insecure about certain topics and situations .. but together Ky and Kiera discover more than their fears and their past no matter how much Ky is trying to be an ahole Kiera is his kryptonite ready to disarm him..
the chemistry between Ky and Kiera was off the charts not only in bed but also the way they felt together was great
I really enjoyed Slashes in the Snow it was a great read, love that the characters had their angst story but also their HEA
Loved this book. It was exciting. Steamy and just so good. The characters were great. I loved how different they were but how well they fit together. He was rough and rugged. She was more quiet and withdrawn but still sassy. The story itself was super interesting and made me want to keep reading to find out more. Happy ending but would have loved an epilogue.
This story was so intense, with action, suspense and romance! My first book from the incredibly talented M. Never! I’ve never read a book like this and I super loved it, especially on Audible, with the intensely sexy talented Jacob Morgan and Muffy Newton.
Kira is Ky’s step-sister, they never met. His father was President of the MC Baum Squad, but one day handed the club over to Ky and left to marry Kira’s mother.
it’s been three years since and Ky is angry at his father.
Once night Kira goes to the clubhouse for Ky’s help, she believes someone is watching her. But Ky doesn’t care and throws out of the clubhouse. He soon regrets not helping her when someting happens and changes Ky’s mind to help.
Ky doesn’t know Kira’s traumatic past, as well as her mothers. But he stays with her in his father’s and Kira’s mother house. A series of strange events start to happen and Ky is also convinced someone is after Kira. But, through all that is happening Kira and Ky are attracted to each other and start a relationship. Their relationship is pretty epic, their passion, their blooming love and trust is so intense, it left me breathless. I really loved this story!
Despite all of Kira’s past, she is a beautiful strong young lady and she helps Ky with his anger over his dad leaving him and their club.
This story has so much twist and turns, suspense, action packed and lots of drama. But love is a powerful force to help Ky, Kira and Gerard, ky’s father.
The love scenes are steamy, but so beautiful at the same time. I really enjoyed this Author talented writing!!!
I absolutely fell in love with this story and it’s characters. The heroine is a strong woman who gets things done. I liked her spunk and fire when dealing with the hero. The hero is a bad boy and alpha rolled into one. But I loved when his softer side peaked through for her. Lots of glorious steamy scenes! The narrators were excellent and I hope to hear more of them. I am definitely hooked on this author.
Kira and Ky’s story is a classic enemies to lovers tale, filled with excitement, angst, hot bikers and, despite ups and downs, a gorgeous romance.
Ky grows so much in this book with his character really fleshing out into something strong. It is Kira’s beautiful, loving nature that seals that. I loved their banter and the fierce protectiveness that she brought out in Ky. I have to admit though that I could have put him on the naughty step to think about what he had done a few times!!!
This book is intense on a couple of levels; in the depiction of fear, and in that of passion. These ingredients help to make it a compelling read, one which I plan to revisit!
