Now if you’re looking for a urban fantasy novel that isn’t like most other fantasies then I would recommend Skulduggery Pleasant totally. Now I know it’s in the young adult section but it’s a story I personally think most fantasy readers and others who read various genres would love. It gives a most refreshing and unique way of bringing to life a modern fantasy. This book will make you laugh, smile, hate and love as it takes through a story cleverly woven and characters that have so many different emotions that you feel what they feel. I would definitely recommend this book for all readers, it’s got something everyone will love.
Excellent absoutely excellent
A successor to Harry Potter… but wittier… and set in Ireland… and (the series) sprinkled with Doctor Who references.
I bought this at a library sale. They weren’t selling the Library, just some of the books within, to clarify for those unsure.
I didn’t finish it, though, not because it was a very bad book, but merely because the book fell apart in my hands, so I haven’t discovered the ending and probably never will now. But I was not too bothered anyway as I have almost had enough of kids books recently and seek something a lot more adult.
Gordon Edgley, the author, has just died, and everything he owns (virtually) is passed onto his niece Stephanie. Gordon’s close friend Skullduggery Pleasant stops her being attacked and helps her uncover the nature of her uncle and what the world is really like.
It is an exciting kid romp filled with magic, skeletons and characters with names like Nefarian Serpine and Dogbollocks boy. So it was fun to read until the pages lay scattered across the living room and our dog looked up confused at the rain of paper.
Ohh yes Skullduggery Pleasant Valkery China and all the other fantastic character’s are back to kick butt I’m not exactly young but I love these awesome books there’s always something going on that keep’s you turning the page’s I would definitely recommend these book’s & why not try the audiobook’s I guarantee you won’t be disappointed Derek Landy is one of my favorite author’s KAZ Bedford
This is a great easy read that can be enjoyed by anyone who likes a good old fashioned adventure/mystery story. There are lots of twists and turns throughout that keep the reader guessing and the ending is a huge surprise as it couldn’t be seen coming.
The characters are all very diverse and very strange but this keeps the book and the storyline together. It allows the many antics of the characters to be feasible and for the storyline to develop along some extremely odd pathways! All in all both make for an exciting rip roaring mystery story that can be enjoyed whether you’re 10 or 110!
I love this book so much that i rented it 5 times before i got bored of it.
