Bestselling author Carl Hiaasen serves up a humorous helping of “taut, fast-paced action…crisp and hot” (The New York Times). After dispatching a pistol-packing intruder from his home with the help of a stuffed Marlin head, Mick Stranahan can’t deny that someone is out to get him. His now-deceased intruder carries no I.D., and as a former Florida state investigator, Stranahan knows there are … Stranahan knows there are plenty of potential culprits. His long list of enemies includes an off point hit man, a personal injury lawyer of billboard fame, a notoriously irritating TV journalist, and a fumbling plastic surgeon.
Now, if he wants to keep fishing into his golden years, Stranahan has no choice but to come out of retirement to close this one last case…

Creative off beat thinking by the author. I read all of his books when I can.
This is one of Hiaasen’s earlier books. The “Florida-Weird” genre was started by him. This is funny and informative. His enduring character, Skink, has an important role to play. Before anyone comes to our state, and certainly before they watch or read (if anyone still does that) the news … they should read this book. But a warning – Hiassen’s books are but a gateway to an even more amusing “Florida-Weird” author, Tim Dorsey, and his continuing protagonist, Serge Storm”. Enjoy it all – we who live here sure do.
Hiassen is indispensable
This, as do all of his books, exposes the soft, squishy underbelly of Florida in a very humerus way. It should be required reading for all “native” residents and the vast expanse of “almost natives” living there!
Love, love love this book. Nobody can do comedy quite like Carl Hiaasen. I Laughed all the way thru, and what bunch of characters. Can t wait to start on his next book
Terrific story!
Hiaasen’s stories are always fun to read.
I find this author to be very entertaining and enjoy the antics of his characters who are all so colorful.
Carl Hiaasan is a fantastic story teller full of detail and feeling without getting too long winded. HIs characters are wonderful and he uses them all to perfection. Some are still out there prowling the Everglades. Enjoy.
This author is always worth reading. I I have read all his books!
Love this author! always amusing
totally preposterous, occasionally unnecessarily gruesome, overall fast moving and amusing good quality writing
A good one from Hiassen
Love me some Carl Hiassen. Almost every one of his books is lots of fun, but of all of them, Skin Tight may be my favorite. In large measure, this is due to Chemo, who enjoys his homemade prosthetic weed whacker hand and puts white-out on his pimples. Chemo has to be my favorite of all of Hiassen’s bad guys. (However, Skin Tight does NOT feature my very favorite Hiassen character, Skink, a Very Good Guy.) Most of Skin Tight’s baddies come to incredibly inventive, gruesome, and amusingly bad ends, as in all of Hiassen’s work. I highly recommend this book.
It was funny with quirky characters.
If you like Carl Hiassen you will like this book. It’s full of odd characters and local color.
fun read!
Typical old fashioned crazy Hiassen, better than many. Miami for grown ups
Hiassen’s writing makes me wish his newspaper columns appeared in my lo9cal paper!
As always, Hiassen blends great characters, humor, and life lessons in his unique and captivating writing style, This one is aimed at young adults. I stopped being young 60+ years ago, but I know young people who would get it and laugh as much as I did. They might not even notice that they’re learning about environmental issues and life skills.
