Great Story!
These two were fun to get to know.
They went from casual acquaintance with major irritation and frustration between them but a very sizzling attraction to quite embedded in each other’s lives for one reason after another.
The story focuses on their getting together and the build of their relationship with the reality of their jobs going on around them and through them.
I really enjoyed this story and will be reading the rest!
WOW!! Kimberly Kincaid can write some Heroes I hate, LOL!!
I’ll say now that I adore Kellan now, so don’t get too worried, but it did take me a hot minute! I thought his over the top anger with Moreno’s past sins was unnecessary and rigid, and his refusal to leave her alone when she obviously knows how to do her job was again a little borderline overprotective, but I was proven very wrong when a very bad man came out of the wood work jamming for Moreno almost from the beginning. And this bad guy is more than just a stage 1 clinger!
Kellan proves himself very quickly to NOT be the over the top jerk I thought he was by taking Moreno’s back in a variety of unseemly situations, but neither one of them can keep from drawing the attention of the ultimate bad guy in this book. Kellan is smart, sexy, and just wants to make sure he doesn’t miss something which is very hard to do with a bad guy creepier than I’ve seen in probably the last five suspense books I’ve read!
Kincaids Skin Deep is amazingly fast-paced and had me backing up several pages a few times to make sure I didn’t miss a single piece of any evidence. Mixed in is the sweet coming together of Kellan and Moreno, and sharing their stories with each other, opening those boxes together never did look so good! All this topped off with fires, one of the creepiest bad guys I’ve seen in a hot minute, and some incredibly HOT SEX ensures that I’ll be lining up for whatever Kincaid writes next!!
This is Book 1 in the Station Seventeen Series
This is the story of Kellan & Isabella. Kellan is a firefighter at Station Seventeen. Isabella is a detective for the Remington Police Department. After putting out a fire in a not so great area of Remngton, Kellan finds pictures and jewelry, which seems shady to him. Isabella comes with her boss and partner to investigate. Kellan is mad at Isabella because three months ago he blames her for his sister almost being killed. She needs to investigate more on her own about what was found at the fire. She goes to Kellan to ask him to take her there, which would be considered an unauthorized visit. During her investigation, there are dangerous situations she would put herself in, but he’s right by her side to protect her. He’s done two tours of duty in the service, so he knows how to protect. They’re highly attracted to one another, without a doubt. The action is high, the anticipation is high, the stubbornness is high. They have each other’s backs, always. I love Kimberly Kincaid’s writing. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
A page-turning romantic suspense novel by Kimberly Kincaid, Skin Deep is about Kellan Walker, an ex-Ranger turned firefighter, and Isabella Moreno, a dedicated officer at Remington PD. Isabella’s known for her increased work ethic and tenacity, which admittedly Kellan initially calls into question when someone on a team she’d vetted proved false.
When a surprise discovery at a fire leads to potential police involvement, Kellan insists on providing Isabella with some backup. Both of them are amazed by their shared chemistry, and willing to see where that leads.
Ms Kincaid’s story is hot and fast-paced. Again, her characterizations are well written and plotting is tight. The villain? Creepy as all get out. Loved getting to know some of the team these two work with, and look forward to more captivating heat in the series to come.
Loved it!!
Wow! This is such a great book. Hot firefighters, creepy bad guy, and smoking chemistry all add up to a great read. Months ago, Kellen, sexy firefighter, teamed up with detective Isabella Moreno to protect his sister Kylie from bad guys (Kylie’s story is Deep Trouble, which I highly recommend reading because its a great story but this can easily be read as a stand-a-lone). When things went bad and Kylie was almost killed Kellen blamed Isabella and hasn’t spoken to her since. Kellen finds evidence of a possible crime at a fire scene and finds himself working alongside Isabella again. As they work together to bring down the bad guys they learn to trust each other, not only with their lives but also with their hearts.
I loved Kellen. He realized early on that he really liked Isabella and that he would have to be careful to gain her trust and not scare her away. Isabella was sassy and tough and I loved seeing a bit of a softer side of her emerge.
Overall just a great read! Highly recommended.
Omg! What a great story! The chemistry between Kellan and Isabella was scorching hot. Totally short circuited my kindle for sure. But what really got me was the crazy suspense. I actually did not realize this story would be such a suspenseful romance. My heart was racing throughout this story. The villain was truly evil and I was right there with Isabella and Kellan in wanting justice served. I could not put this book down. I’m fairly new to Kimberly Kincaid’s stories so I’m very excited to catch up on her other works. Definitely recommend this story for any romantic suspense readers.
There is nothing like a book where the H & h don’t like each other that I love. The sexual tension just builds and builds until it explodes, add in suspense and it’s ticks all my boxes. Great 1st book in what I’m assuming will be a great series
Kimberly Kincaid was a new to me author when I read DEEP DOWN. I enjoyed it so much that I immediately started reading SKIN DEEP, meaning I was reading them out of order, but they are each a standalone in the Station Seventeen Engine Series. I enjoyed seeing some of the same characters. If I were to describe SKIN DEEP with one word, it would be thriller! Kellan and Isabella are two very strong willed, confident professionals who weren’t exactly on speaking terms when Kellan’s sister plays a little matchmaking. Each are fighting the attraction of the other when a situation happens and they find themselves working together. This wasn’t only a great storyline, but it brings an awareness of an ugliness that is taking place in our cities without our knowledge. Kimberly Kincaid is a master storyteller!
Skin Deep is the first book in the Station Seventeen series and it is a smoking hot read, loaded with action from the very first page. In this book the the reader meets lots of characters, not only from the Remington Fire Department but also the Remington Police Department.
Kellan Walker is an Army Ranger turned fireman and he loves his job. Detective Isabella Moreno is a police detective and she lives for her job. These two have met before and not happily, so when Kellan finds something at a fire, that causes the police to get involved, he is not real happy when Isabella shows up.
This book is loaded with action, suspense, passion, romance, angst, friends and family. The characters are all well developed, whether they are good guys or bad. I especially liked the camaraderie between the firefighters and also the police.
Great start to what I know will be a fantastic series. I give this one five “tell me something about you” stars!!
I could not put this book down. The first book in Station Seventeen. Do you like fireworks in your books? Well pick this book up.
Kellan Walker and Isabella have a past. He hasn’t forgotten what shes done. She feels bad enough but needs his help. There’s something that is going on and the fire she’s investigating goes way beyond. She can’t let it go.
Highly recommend.
WOW!! I do mean WOW!! Again, Kimberly Kincaid burns up the pages with love and suspense in her novella Forever Deep, part of her Station Seventeen series. It’s time for Kellen and Moreno to commit to each other in love and life. However, the culprit in an unsolved mystery from Isabella’s past has struck again, killing another innocent victim. Isabella and Kellen, and her team at the thirty-third precinct race against time to find and arrest this killer before he leaves town and another unsolved murder.
I loved reading this book as Ms. Kincaid drew me in and did not let me go until I read the last page. It is a novella, short story, that can be read in a few short hours. Ms. Kincaid is an outstanding story teller and kept this reader mesmerized with the need to see how they would find and capture this guy and whether or not Isabella would get the closure she needed before committing herself to Kellen. I highly recommend this book to other readers and I for one look forward to the next book in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This is the first book in the Station Seventeen Series. It contains no cliff hangers, a HEA , lots of suspense, and some crazy chemistry. Skin Deep can be read as a stand alone book.
The characters are amazing, the plot of human trafficking is heart wrenching but it’s so well written that the pages get turned quickly.
Sexy fire fighter, Kellan, matches up with “I don’t date”, Isabella and lets just say it’s a fight to the finish. You won’t be disappointed…
