I thought this was an interesting read. It kept me interested.
This book held my internet to the end. It never let me know who did what until the end.
keeps you guessing
Good mystery
I cannot wait to read more from this Author. Keeps you guessing and moving along.
A true page turner keeping the reader up in the air until the very end. Lots of leads down the wrong paths as the reader infers suspects!
This mystery ending wasn’t at all obvious to me.
Love it.
I read so many (my husband says too many) books, so I had to think about this review of a book I read 2 books back, however, as my memory got tickled, so did the joy that I got from this book. It is a GREAT combination of mystery and thriller with a bit of romance thrown in, but no sexy scenes for those that are turned off by that sort of thing.
The setting is a run down antebellum house in Mississippi recently purchased y a Yankee to be refurbished as her new home. Cade has been living in the home, just to keep vandals away. He has a love of the history of the area, the home and eventually it’s newowner but not before all kinds of chaos breaks out. Such as long dead bodies buried in the basement, break-ins, secret rooms revealed, unscrupulous sales taking place everywhere…isanyone trustworthy? Read Skeletons Key to learn who and when to trust.
better than average
A good series with good characters and well written
Really enjoyed the setting and the characters. The ending was a disappointment though. Plenty of red herrings to throw you off but no real clues were given to put you on the track of who the killer actually is. So the reveal at the end comes out of the blue. Also, the secret corridor has a couch, dresser, bed, table, armoire, boxes and a desk in it. This makes it a sizable room, not a corridor. Overall, a great setting for a mystery but the mystery ends up flat.
Awesome. Great mystery, totally shocked in the end.
Terrific book, didn’t know who did it till very end.
Great read…stayed up most of the night trying to figure out who the bones belonged to !
Didn’t see the ending till it hit me in the face !
Didn’t guess the ending!
Having been reared in Indianapolis, as did our heroine, I *always* drank sweet tea, so not all “Damned Yankees” hate it. Other than that, I found that her feelings about the deep South are quite understandable. I enjoyed the story greatly and couldn’t wait until my next day’s walk on the treadmill (where I do the majority of my reading) so I could find out what happened next.
While I didn’t exactly follow the floorplan of the house the way she described it near the end, I think that’s because I’m architecturally challenged. It could have ended no other way, though – the only predictable part of the story.
Enjoyed it and it’s unusual setting added to its appeal.
My highest compliment is that I didn’t know the killer! A well constructed mystery with just enough conflict to make it interesting.
Found this one to be a grabber. Couldn’t put it down
