This was a very good read.
Nice historical reference on southern homes. Nice characters.
It kept me interested and I wanted to keep reading. Didn’t want to put it down.
Very readable kept me reading til I finished!
It was interesting as to where the plot led but a little too simple.
A very good read!
Didn’t see the ending coming so, good plot!
Written with a great sense of place and honesty about people.
This novel bordered on the romantic genre of which, I’m not a fan. I did like the story though and just skipped over the romantic interludes.
Kept me guessing and interesting human angle
Currently reading. Can’t wait to see if I am right about “who done it”.
I really enjoyed the book. The characters were likeable and there were a few good twists too.
Easy read, good strong characters. Interesting details about historical houses.
Another one of Stacy Green’s romances with a murder thrown in. All I can say is these women in her books fall for a man fast (less than a week) and can’t live without them from then on.
Dani from Indiana buys an old plantation home in Roselea, MS and plans to restore it. Before she can get moved south some old bones are found in the basement. As soon as she gets to MS two bodies are found near the original set of bones. Cage, the caretaker ( was in Tin God), is suspected of murder. By now, Dani and he are totally besotted with one another. And she will do whatever it takes to prove him innocent.
Absolutely no surprises. You keep reading because you can’t believe it is that obvious.
Stacy Green put herself at the top of my must read list with this one. After reading the rest of the Delta Crossroads mysteries that is where she will stay!
This isn’t the next great literary novel, but it’s quite good, and does an excellent job of dealing with what could be viewed as melodrama in a way that illustrates just how much of our lives could be judged the same way. It also illustrates the toxicity of secrets and of the narcissistic and manipulative charismatics who prey on people in the name of religion or politics. I quite enjoyed it and plan on reading more by this author.
Second book on the series, not as gripping as the first. It’s easy to get lost in the wonderful world of Mississippi while walking along with the characters through an interesting story.
