2* ARC Review – Hockey Player Rehab
I think this is the first book I have read by this author and when I read the synopsis on Hidden Gems, I requested the ARC from them. It looked like an interesting sports romance with some suspense, and I thought it would be a fast read. Although it did not take much time to read, I felt it could have been longer to actually develop the story more. Also, there were small errors that stuck out to me, like the athletes going into the dressing room, not a locker room.
As the book starts, Sam is being introduced to Mac “The Hammer”, captain of the Victoria NHL team who has recently had an injury to his knee. Mac is in a remote cabin as he rehabs, and Sam moves in because her uncle is the team doctor and recommends her. There is an attraction, but I found them to be arguing and hating each other more than anything. Also, her technics as a physio therapist seem to be things like making him walk or use snowshoes, not exactly specializing in rehabilitation. As this is going on, they are suddenly in danger by men who appear to want to hurt Mac. The ending seems rushed and the interesting plot points are all crammed in at the end of the story.
Secrets and lies endanger hockey player Mac and physical therapist Samantha. It seems every character in this story has a secret they are holding on to. Mac just wants to heal and play hockey but finds himself falling for Samantha. She is trying to do as her uncle asks while resisting the hot hunk she has to treat. In the end it will be the person you least suspect who turns out to be the bad guy and love always finds a way.
The story starts off with a hockey player named Mac Wanowski aka The Hammer. He gets hit roughly by another player that takes him out of the game and possibly out of the rest of the season. The Doctor gets his niece Sam Walters a physical therapist out to where Mac is staying to get him back into shape to try to come back to Hockey. This is where all the trouble starts on a couple different fronts. People want Mac dead and now Sam is possible collateral damage. Mac wants to protect her but starts to fall in love with her but does not want to let himself.
If the book had been a little longer and had a few more details I would have given it another star. Everything just happened so fast and unraveled so fast I didn’t really have time to get vested into some of the story. It did keep my attention the whole time though so that was great.
I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review. The opinions in this review are 100% my own
