Varius Payne is a guilty pleasure that tempts a girl to sin…The agreement was simple—no names, no confessions, and absolutely no falling in love. We met in secret every week, our nights so hot it’d make the Devil sweat and angels blush. Sure, Varius kept his secrets, but I never needed the truth……Until the day we came face-to-face outside our hotel room, working together to coordinate his … working together to coordinate his small-town’s Christmas pageant. Suddenly, I’m choreographing snowflakes, wrangling alpacas into the Nativity scene, and snapping like a gingerbread cookie when the choir goes on hunger strike.
And just when it couldn’t get any worse…which commandment does a girl break when she falls for the town’s ex-minister?
Varius needs a savior, but I lost my halo a long time ago. Saving him from those demons risks more than breaking our hearts.
Sometimes, a man can’t heal from the sins of his past. But a good woman can help him forget.
It’d be a match made in Heaven…
If we hadn’t detoured through Hell.

Sosie Frost is my go-to author for hilarious banter between the H and h. Sixty Nine is wonderful. Get it today!
Ok read. Very very slow start. But stick with it because it gets very good towards the middle-end. Varius and Glory bpok was different from the previous books. The religious reference kept throwing me off. Their book has the funny back and forth banter, it just didn’t seem right. I voluntarily reviewed this advance reader copy of this book.
3.5 stars
Glory and V (Varius) have been meeting every night for weeks, but he has yet to give in totally. They spend their time comforting each other, never giving names, never asking for more. Until she wants more. But will she get more? Does she deserve more? Does he?
Varius is numb. He’s lost his faith, literally. He used to be Butterpond’s preacher until a terrible accident stole his faith and stole his hope. But perhaps one woman and her little girl can restore his faith, restore his hope, restore his humanity, restore his heart.
Hmmm, this one wasn’t my favorite of the Payne Brothers series. It dragged quite a bit, and was a bit too melancholy in parts. I wasn’t sold on Glory and V as a couple, but they do have lots of chemistry and Lulu lightens things up a lot with her adorable little self. I am looking forward to Tidus’ story next now.
** spoiler alert ** Glory struggles determined to do anything she can to protect and provide for her daughter. Varius lost his way after a tornado tore through his church. They could be each others damnation or salvation. Will Glory be able to get through to Varius? Will Varius realize what is happening before it is to late?
Was really excited to get Varius’ book after reading about him previously. I loved how Glory was determined to be who she was and was determined to do what she could to help those around her. I didn’t blame Varius for loosing his way, but loved how he showed he cared little by little till he was ready to accept everything! Great read!
This had an extremely slow, sort of rambling lengthy intro. I found it difficult to stay engaged
The story was confusing and hard to follow. I tried several times to finish the book but just gave up. Consequently, I did not enjoy this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book for Hidden Gems
I have read Sosie Frost’s other Payne Brothers books. Something you should know about these books is there is a certain level of quirk. The fictitious town of the books, Butterpond, is different. Its population keeps you a little confused from time-to-time with their strange rules and actions. With the first three books, you accept it and realize it is necessary to understanding the Payne brothers’ in relation to the town. However, in Sixty Nine, I struggled with the strange community. In fact, I felt like I was trudging through Varius’s story. And I hate to feel that way when I read a book, especially Sosie Frost’s. Yes, Varius and Glory have chemistry, and she is the reason he’s able to find his soul again. However, getting there requires you to sort through a crazy Christmas pageant and Varius’s constant self-flagellation. I appreciate his struggle, really I do. However, I needed to more focus in this book. I recommend this series, but this is my least favorite book of the series thus far.
This is another great addition to the Payne Brothers series . They each can be enjoyed alone but you are doing yourself an injustice by not getting acquainted with each of them.
Varius and Glory are such an unlikely couple but it soon becomes clear they each may have the power to provide what the other needs and wants.
V is a former pastor that has truly lost his faith and his way. Stricken with a tragedy he can no longer see himself as deserving or as a leader. That is until her.. Glory .
Glory is an entertainer, a striper and she has the uncanny ability to always attract the wrong man . V and Glory develop a professional relationship and then it becomes so much more ! This is a angsty dark read that will have you rooting for these two lost souls !

Sixty Nine is the fourth book in the Payne Brothers Romance series. Varius and Glory might have started off with an indecent and sinful arrangement, but after he calls it off, he’s shocked when he’s forced back to help the church and runs into Glory again. Both are fighting against their desires, struggling with their demons, and slowly dealing with the consequences of their hidden truths. But when Varius pushes Glory away one time too many, can he become the man he needs to be to bring her back into his life?
Okay, I have to say, I think I’ve decided I have a love/dislike relationship with these books in this series. They are amazingly written, with a lot of emotion, a lot of pain, and a lot to overcome before finding that happy ending. I love the dialogue between the main characters, I love their growing relationships, and I love how the two characters will heal each other. But, these books are often very wordy and sometimes I forget what’s going on in the scene because there’s so much inner dialogue going on about how torn they are about forgiveness and accepting of the other’s love. I want to love all of the inner dialogue, but sometimes it just becomes repetitive. But… all that being said, I love the details that Ms. Frost creates in her writing, because I feel like I can see and experience what I’m reading! She does a lovely job of creating the perfect blend of wanting to bust out laughing at the craziness, and wanting to cry ugly tears from all of the hurt and pain that both Varius and Glory are experiencing. I loved every heartbreaking moment I spent reading this book! Glory was so strong, needing to be to keep her baby safe, willing to do what she needed to keep her fed, but I loved when she could be just a little vulnerable with Varius. Varius seemed so broken at times, refusing to see what was right in front of him, but I loved who he became as he spent more time with Glory and Lulu. There was some major drama that happened in this book, some trying to tear them apart, others pushing them together. I loved reading about the mess the other brothers still were, but I love how they band together when any had need of the others! This was a fabulous book, and I’m loving these Payne Brothers!
Sixty-Nine by Sosie Frost a five-star read that will blow not only your mind!! This is the forth novel in the Payne Brothers series, but they can be read as stand-alone as each story is about a different family member, this time it’s the turn of Varius Payne, or V as he is better known to many. V was someone I was desperate to hear more from, I wanted to know why he hid himself away in the basement, what happened that made him lose his faith, was there anything that could bring some brightness to his life? Glory be god the pageant will come alive with a new choreographer and she may be the one who can bring the light. This was such a well written story, the plot made sense and the story flowed, there was enough drama that it kept you hooked and enough light-heartedness that made it a really entertaining read without being nuts. You need to get to know V better, find out his dark secrets as they will help you like they haunt him.
