I was surprised at how much this held my attention.
When I read the blurb I thought it would just be a little interesting read but the way this author worded this story made it so vivid in my mind that it held my attention strongly right from the start.
I even found myself thinking about it when I was not reading it.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s just not my usual read.
Less paranormal and gruesome death than I usually go for but still made me wanting to see what the next page held.
I will definitely have to check out this author’s other work.

I liked this story. It is about Ava and what happens when her mother dies at the beginning of the book and what happens when she goes to meet her father for the first time. I thought Ava was an interesting character with the typical flaws of a newly adult but the innocence of a child as she grew up isolated. It made me laugh and groan but still root for Ava as she begins to live her life. Of course things are not all peachy and trouble ensues but that was half the fun of the story. I thought it was a good start to a series and I read it in one sitting to see how it would end. Now I need the next book.
I just loved this book. I read this book in one day. I can’t wait for the next one.

This is an awesome read! A non stop, action packed, adventure filled story that once you start reading you will not be able to put down! There’s drama and intrigue, suspense and magic and I am eager to read what happens next especially after that ending!
Our heroine and her two sisters grew up in hiding, but that ends with the death of her mother. To survive, she needs to find her father, but than might also spell their doom. Talk about family issues.
This is book one of a new urban fantasy series. Start here.
This is an excellent start to this urban fantasy series. It takes a moment to set the stage, but that is because it is a well developed and detailed world which requires a little explanation to get the reader prepared for what comes next. And that is a fast paced roller coaster of a plot that sucks you in and won’t let you. I liked the depth of the story and our characters which really made for a solid read. This is the first book and it does end on something of a cliffhanger, so be prepared to move right on to book two. I know I will.
Highly recommended.

Book review of Sisters of the Coven by Amelia Shaw
This book was well written, with interesting characters and a dynamic environment.
The sisters Ava, Bella & Courtney were typical sisters. Ava may have had some Mommy problems as the eldest sister and some Daddy problems because she never knew him.
Their Mother’s last words were you will have nothing, don’t look for him, stay away the council … the Assassins.
What will they do with nothing, no house belongings, money? Will Ava let her curiosity win?
We have suspense, drama, life threatening moments, and lies, and now on the run from death. Ava and her three sisters find out everything is an illusion when their mother dies. Now she is on the hunt for her father, but what will she find? What are these rules of the council? Can Travor help her? Will she get the help she needs to survive and save her sisters? Can’t wait for the next book.

This is a phenomenal story!! Does end on a cliff hanger as there are I belive 6 books planned for at the moment! I devoured this is one sitting I couldn’t put it down! And the cover is beautiful love the colors!
I will be honest, for the first 10% of the book, it was a bit slow, but it was setting the foundation. After that, hold on! So much happens in what is only a couple of days and in so many ways!
Ava has lived a very sheltered life, VERY! It was just her mother, herself and her two sisters. Yes, there were servants, but when her mother was on her death bed, they found out that everything was created by her mother’s magic so when she died, it would all disappear. Only the clothes on the three sister’s backs survived. The house, their belongings and even the servants were all created by their mother’s magic. Ava had always wanted to find their father in the magic realm, but her mother forbade it. When her mother died and left the girls in the middle of a field in their realm, Ava decided to find their father. She finds out that her father is the High Warlock of the witch’s realms. He is like the King of witches, but the Council is who controls all the power. Being that the High Warlock is born into his position and has an arranged marriage since birth, just by being born, Ava will have a death warrant on her head if they ever find out who her father is. She goes to her Aunt, not by blood but by being her mother’s friend since childhood, to get answers like who her father is and how to reach him. She then goes to the magic realms and meets him.
Tavlor is the High Warlock’s chief of security, best tracker and assassin. He is half-fae and half-witch, which means that everyone dislikes him. The witches are predigested against all other beings, especially half breeds. When he meets Ava, there is an instant attraction between them, even though he doesn’t believe that she could like him, he is so used to people’s judgment. When he shows her how she will be tested and realizes that she has more power than someone who claims to be half-witch and half-human. He learns that she does care for him when he is allowed to probe her mind. He then tries to protect her from the evil Council witches that want to destroy her.
I can’t wait to read the next book to see how things go.

I’ve read a few of the authors previous books, and I’m opening it with much anticipation…..
Ava being the eldest of three sisters isn’t impressed with her mother, although she’s dying, her mother is still a formidable figure.
Getting told that she had to look after and protect her younger sisters has Ava annoyed. Why her? They are old enough, but there is something her mother is hiding…..
When your whole world literally falls down around your ears, you would expect to feel fear, wouldn’t you? Ava did, but she also felt free, no longer under the harsh tongue of her mother.
We follow Ava through a minefield…. finding out about her father was the easy part, finding out both herself and her sisters will be hunted and murdered by the council was hard, and why? Her father can only have one heir by his wife chosen by the council, see where this is going?
This book is told in the main characters point of view. I got the impression when first reading the character of Ava, she was a bit of a brat!! But the further you get into the book, Ava shows us why she’s cold, her mother always pushed her, she got the talks, Courtney and Bella got the love. But we see Ava grow, she needs answers to her heritage so she has to be careful where she looks for answers.
So does Ava get to meet her father? And who is Tavlor? And what is the connection that Ava feels with him? Can she trust him?
It ends on a cliffhanger!! So I’m definitely wanting to read the next instalment.
