The grass is always greener on your sister’s side of the fence… like Lucas, the annoying playboy cop who claims he hangs around for Harper’s fresh-baked cookies.
Spending half her life in school hasn’t prepared Dr. Stacey Bloom for her most daunting challenge—motherhood. She didn’t inherit the nurturing gene like Harper and is in deep denial that a baby is coming. Worse, her mother will be horrified to learn that Stacey’s husband plans to be a stay-at-home dad…assuming Stacey can first find the courage to tell Mom she’s already six months pregnant.
Separately they may be a mess, but together Harper and Stacey can survive anything—their indomitable mother, overwhelming maternity stores and ex’s weddings. Sisters Like Us is a delightful look at sisters, mothers and daughters in today’s fast-paced world, told with Susan Mallery’s trademark warmth and humor.

I really like most of the characters in the book. They were in many ways original and likeable. I took one star off as I did not like the ending between one of the couples, and did not think it very realistic.
Susan Mallery never fails to give readers what they want. I loved the dynamics between the characters . And I always love a happy ending.
I enjoy Mallery’s characters and the relationships within her books. Enjoyable interesting light reading!
I love this series! Reading the latest installment is like visiting with old friends.
Susan Mallory develops wonderful characters who are believable. Love her stories.
A really enjoyable easy read. Love this author
Was a good book just not as good as her books usually are ! Got better as it went along!!
Harper is a stay at home mom who is recently divorced with a teenage daughter. Her sister, Stacy is a super intelligent researcher. Harper is struggling with starting a new business. Her daughter is struggling to adjust to the divorce and her father’s lack of concern for her. Stacy is newly married and pregnant. She struggles with her doubts that she will be a good mother. Their mother lives in an apartment over Harper’s garage. Both women have a difficult relationship with her. Include Lucas, a playbook cop and be ready for a entertaining story. I highly recommend this book.
Awesome Book like reading MAllerys books
A great easy read! I really enjoyed the differences between the sisters!
Really enjoyed this book. Will look for more books by this author.
I loved this book. I cried during parts of it because I identified so closely with Harper, the older sister. I definitely recommend this book! It will stay with you for awhile after you finish!
I love all of Susan Mallery’s books and this one is no exception. She writes very well and grabs you with her stories from page 1.
It was a good read nothing special.
I enjoy reading Susan Mallery’s books. They full of honest women with everyday problems.
The book centers around Harper and Stacey; sisters who have they’re own struggles but who are still close. Haper is divorced, with a daughter. Her ex is a jerk who doesn’t seem to have any time to spend with his daughter. Plus his wife doesn’t care or like Trevor’s daughter. Hugh, from Mallery’s novel, A Million Little Things, was also in this novel. He was very nice and helpful with Harper’s daughter. He taught her how to drive.
Stacey is pregnant and she is also afraid. She’s scared she won’t have any maternal feelings for her child. Kit, her husband, is a wonderful man. He never made her feel bad about working and he had no problem with staying home and taking care of the baby, with Stacey worked.
Susan Mallery brings life to her characters and you want everything to work out for them.
This book had some amazing complex characters who were working through their various issues, and finding that the others that they perceived to have it together, did not. We often see others as if they don’t have flaws while all we can see about ourselves are problems. This book brought that out and showed how each person in it struggled with their own issues. It also addressed challenging multi generational conflict. Each daughter had to find their own way past their mother’s expectation and values. I love all of Susan Mallery’s books and this one did not disappoint.
I enjoyed the story line and characters, very real life.
Widow Bunny Bloom was raised in the time that women stayed at home and catered to their husbands. She is a balabusta that tried to infuse her values to her 2 daughters. Now she lives in an apartment above the garage of her oldest daughter’s home. Her oldest daughter, Harper, got with the program, but the man she married used her to put him through medical school and then divorced her and their teenage daughter, once he was established. Struggling to raise their daughter and keep the house, she uses the skills that she learned from her mother to start a virtual-assistant business, while her mother continues to criticize her for spending too much time on her business, and not enough on her daughter. Meanwhile, younger sister Stacey, is a genius, who her mother could never relate to, telling her that she is not normal. She managed to find a man who loves her as she is, but getting pregnant, because he wants children, has caused her to have doubts about herself as a woman and whether she is missing the instincts to be a mother. The sisters are lucky that they have each other.
Although this is the fourth book in the series, it can easily be read as a stand alone. Unlike the Fool’s Gold series, you do not have to remember characters that you read about years ago. The author’s characters are always well developed, going through provocative situations and written in an amusing voice. The cast of secondary characters are also engaging with 3 dobermans to add more interest. Although not a suspense or thriller, it is still hard to put down.
LOVE beach BOOKS. And books about female relationship s
I really like this series and I liked this book as the characters are realistic and well fleshed out to make them likable, hate-able, funny, annoying and more with the layers of depth that the author has given each character. The story is about life, loss, love and finding joy as well as purpose as the characters grow and expand. My only hang-up with this book is the ending. If felt rushed and almost like the author decided they had hit enough words so lets just rush it to end it and wrap a bow around it so everyone is happy. I was honestly really liking this book until I hit the ending and it wasn’t the entire ending. I like where the characters are headed with their educations, businesses, families and more. It is the storyline between Harper and Lucas that left me frustrated. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but lets just say it leapt to a finish without going through realistic progress otherwise it was a good book and I will definitely look forward to the next book in the series.
