Demons, murder, and a trip straight to Hell…I thought I’d get a little time off before the veritable poop hit the fan, but fate — or rather the Fates — have other ideas. The witch who tried to have my sister possessed has escaped, and not only do I find him dead, but I don’t have a clue who he was working with. Or working for…Now I have a Council Member in human jail, a ragtag bunch of … in human jail, a ragtag bunch of stuffy law-abiders to lead, and a solid inkling that the next person on the chopping block is me.
All of that would be bad enough, but I’ve got bigger problems. Maria isn’t quite right after a demon almost stole her body, and I have a hunch it’s going to require a trip to Hell to get it fixed.
Time to sharpen my athames. Vacation time is over.

This is the fourth book in the series and they need to be read in order. Max’s sister is still asleep and she needs to find a way to wake her up. The Fates and some others have a different plan for Max as usual. Max may have to take a literal trip to Hell to save her sister. Someone very old and dangerous is behind everything. Max needs to figure out who and stop him. Max has the best back up to help her. No matter how hard she tries pushing them away they are there for her. Someone new has joined her team as well. He could mean more to Max than she knows. The gang goes on one heck of an adventure. Max continues to learn more about what she is and what she can do. Will she ever learn the complete truth about herself? I love this book just as much as Annie’s other books. They are always action packed and fantastic. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. Annie you have done it again. I can’t say enough about this book or the series. I can’t recommend it enough either.
I want to be Max! She is a badass woman! Her sister Maria has been kidnapped so off she goes to find out who took Maria and where she is. As usual with Max things don’t normally work out well. Goddesses, dragons, withes, phoenixes, all sorts of ethereal beings are involved in this story helping or hindering Max. Twists a turns abound and the ones near and at the end were definitely not expected! I received an advance copy for my honest review. I say ‘read this series!!’ You won’t be disappointed. Awesome writing Annie Anderson, keep these coming.

This book as well as the series is absolutely amazing. It will pull you in and keep you there. The female MC is so captivating and has such an amazing personality that has you feeling her emotions. I would recommend this book- series and author to anyone!
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Wow just wow!! Max is totally awesome I must say and this book is no exception to that. She gets no chance to breathe after joining the council quickly being swept up by the needs of the fates. Given a task that seems impossible she tries to figure things out in time to save them all but a few twists along the way do not make that easy. Quite a few surprises, lots of action, and an MC you can root for make for a must read. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
Sister of Embers & Echoes by Annie Anderson is an awesome story to read. This is book number four in this awesome series that I fell in love with from the first book and can not wait for the next one in this series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy.

Another dip in shark infested waters
Max, the witch with a knack for finding trouble, gets sent for another dip in shark infested waters without a cage. As the story progresses another impossible task is issued, a new facet to her life is added, and the outcome received is never the outcome she wishes for. Annie Anderson sure knows how to make readers wring their hands as they wait for the other shoe to drop.
I received a free copy of the book from the author via Booksprout. I had the opportunity to review or not.
I loved this new addition to Max’s story. She’s definitely one of my favorite characters. It was thrilling to go on this new adventure with her. There were many twists and discoveries made on her journey to save her sister. I really liked getting to know her new companion more too. I can’t wait to find out what the the next book has in store for them.
Annie Anderson is one of my favorite authors and I know that whatever she writes, I am going to love it! I try to slow down in order to enjoy every word, but the story moves at such a fast pace that I find it to be impossible.
This book is no exception. We find Max trying to get her sister, Maria, to wake up after a Demon tried to steal her body. Add in the hunky Alistair, a man who seems just right for Max….or is he? Throw in a trip to Hell, tons of magic, and lots of snark and you have a great read.
There is plenty of action (of course), snarky comments (oh yeah!), a little love and loads of great world building and character development. Max has suffered so much through her long life and deserves some happiness, but it seems to always be just out of reach! Add in her continued need to fix everything (even when it’s not her problem) and you just know that trouble is ahead.
You have plenty of magic, a villain that you love to hate and Max….what more could you want? The next book in the series, of course! Thanks, Ms. Anderson, for continuing to amaze me with your imagination and writing skills!
ONE ENTHRALLING ROLLERCOASTER!!!
Hell’s knocking! Annie lowers the boom with this jaw dropping, mind-blowing, nailbiting, chart topping, block busting bombshell, throwing this baby into the eye of the storm, blowing it into a tailspin with astonishing results. You are not going to believe how this installment plays out. Ramping up every emotion, racing through you unchecked melding this baby together seamlessly. A multitude of inadvertent events and daunting circumstances catapults this little fella to a whole new level. Encountering the drama, intrigue, tension, danger and soaring suspense, keeping you riveted on a razors edge. Add turmoil, distress and perplexing situations along with a boatload of trouble, blazes this baby to life beautifully. Bridging the trials and tribulations, along with a slew of unexpected twists and crushing turns, tempting our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. Illustrating impressive, well rounded scenario’s, that punch dead center with such exuberance and style, blasting this little fella into a tizzy, catapulting it to staggering heights. The characters are authentic and realistic with qualities and traits that blend into amazing personalities. The scenes are so colorfully descriptive it paints an elaborate backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Fantastic job Annie, thanks for sharing this little fella with us.
Loved this series entry!

Yet another strong book in a consistently strong series with the strongest and baddest of…women as its lead character.
I signed up for Annie Anderson’s ARC review squad. I rarely do such things but this is a special series. Our mc, Max, is one of the strongest female leads I’ve ever seen. She’s right up there with Dante DeCesar, and that’s really saying something.
Max continues to learn more about her origins. Some of it is shocking. She must overcome danger and obstacles in her quest to rescue her sister and expose the criminal who kidnapped her and who has wreaked havoc in the council. Alistair is an important part of this book and we learn more of his difficult background story also. The pace of the book is fast and that fits with the rapidfire but well reasoned decision making of Max. She discovers a dangerous weakness and the reasons it can be used against her. Poor Max! Nothing is ever as it seems in her world or even in hell, where she must go to try to save her sister.
This book was fast, fun and totally satisfying.

4.5 Cranky Stars
This book as Max would say is aces. We come back to see Max fighting a losing battle, her tentative relationship with Alistair and finding out who she truly is. We all know Max is a kick butt hybrid, but she is so much more and when Max loves she loves with her whole soul heck she’s even willing to traverse Hell for you. I’d like to think I would do the same. I mean love makes you do crazy things, right?
Maxima is waiting for her sister to wake up when she is summoned to Aether because a bunch of witches and shapeshifters are dead and it’s up to her and her new job as Sentinel to find out who done it. Along with her paladins her wild goose chase sends her to New Orleans a town which she despises for all it’s dead lingering around not to mention the Goddess that is looking for her. When Max strikes a deal with her, she is led to the one place she has never wanted to step foot in. It’s now up to Max to execute her plan but things don’t always go according to plan in her world. She will experience loss like no other at the hands of a horrible demon that is in relation to someone she is starting to trust.
I love Max. I’ve said it from book one and I’m sure I’ll be saying it till the end. Sometimes she is rash and spontaneous and a hot head, but it comes from a place of love. Something that she hasn’t had a lot of. I was so glad to see Alistair again he seems like a good fit for Max. I’ve always wanted her to have true love. Annie Anderson described these worlds in such vivid detail. I want to hug the sea dragon too! This was another winner in this supernatural world of witches, demons, faes and wraiths just to name a few.
It’s always an adventure with Max in each book and this one did not disappoint. So much is here from magic, chaos, murder, mayhem, to love, friendship, laughter and even a little heat thrown in. Fantastic characters. Annie has created this fabulous world for us to enjoy. I loved it from beginning to end and cannot wait until the next installment!
This story just keeps getting better. There is always a mystery to be solved, a who done it, and why did they do it. Throw in a damsel in distress and Hell, there is a great story. The focus on this story in my opinion is family. We get to learn a lot about Max’s family. There are certainly lots of revelations there. Her love life definitely takes a turn, and the circumstances can only be described as magical.
The ending was definitely a tear jerker, however the cliffhanger left me anxious for more!

I love the world created by Annie Andersen. Sister of Embers & Echoes is book 4 in this series which follows Max, a former rogue witch turned sentinel. Book 4 starts with Max coping badly with the aftermath of book 3’s mind blowing ending. Maria is “asleep,” Elias is imprisoned and the magic community is sorting out the mess. The story starts in chaos and gets more intense within the first chapter. Annie keeps the story flowing at a pace that keeps me engaged and not wanting to put my kindle down. Chaos, intrigue, mystery, betrayal and the introduction of some new secrets which might just make our heroine lose it but kept me panting for me. Poor Max, just when she thinks she’s got it all sorted, Annie throws her another loop. Refreshing and yet frustrating for both Max and me as a reader. That ending! Wow. I need the next book like I need oxygen. I am hooked.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Max is the coolest chick EVER!!!!
So here we are, trying to figure out what happened with Maria and what Max can do to fix it. As always, fixing it isn’t exactly what happens.
All the stuff happens, there’s the bad guy that we really didn’t see coming, everybody tells Max not to kill anyone and Max just does what she wants cause she’s the baddest chick around!!!!
Two of my utter most favorite Max moments….
“Yes, I was in a dress and heals and a strapless motherfucking bra. No, I was not going to be taken hostage or killed because I was afraid one of my girls might deviate from her assigned seat.”
“What in the blue fuck is this woman talking about?”
Now, can we have book 5 now cause I NEED book 5, NOW!
Sisters of Embers and Echoes (Rogue Ethereal Series #4)
by Annie Anderson
***5 stars***
Max is at it again! Murder, mayhem, and a few twisty turns we’ve come to expect from our feisty rogue and her gang of misfits.
She’s on a mission to save her sister, Maria, and let no human or demon get in her way. Max sometimes feels she has no one in her corner, and tries to push people away, but she has the coolest and most elite backup around.
We also get a look into Alistair’s family, and let me tell you what I think of daddy. King of the dirtiest douchebags! Did I mention how much I love this man? And how perfect he is for my girl, Max?
Annie Anderson nevers fails to amaze me with her fantastic stories and characters, and I will continue to be a devoted fan always.
I love this series. This is book 4 and I was not disappointed. I love Max and the rest of the characters. This is a very well written book and I recommend reading.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Max is Back and better than ever. She’s funny and furious and in too much trouble to manage, but she always does. This continues the story (please read the previous books first for a better experience) and takes off. Nothing is ever easy but Max is the girl to get it done. I love the character and the storyline that has more twists and turns than you can imagine. Max has mad skills and a mouth on her that will have you rolling on the floor laughing — can’t keep a good woman down. And she doesn’t take prisoners — so watch out.
Book four hits the ground running and doesn’t look back! I loved the steamy developments between Max and Alistair-finally!-along with their crazy jaunt into the depths of Hades to try to save Max’s sister. The Fates, Max’s family, and close friends also had starring roles, providing levity and reason when needed most. And sometimes, it’s really needed…. And I can’t tell you how many times Max’s sarcasm had me grinning like a loon when she was facing off with powerful beings!
Max is fast becoming a favorite female lead, ranking up there with Kate Daniels, Elena (Guild Hunter series) and Cat (Night Huntress series)! Max takes names, metes out justice, and is dangerous to know-sometimes the good guys when she has an oopsie with her powers, but especially for the bad guys! I love her snark, the bluntness, and her side of humanity that keeps her family and friends so close. Her powers keep my eyebrows raised at times, but know she’s doing what she does for the greater good.
I’ve been not so patiently awaiting the next book in Max’s story, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I’ve been on a roller coaster, laughing, crying, and everything between. The character development of Max and her friends was super satisfying. Characters that I’ve loved, I feel like I understand a bit more, like Barrett and Stryker. I wasn’t too fond of Alistair, but he is definitely growing on me. I find Max so relatable in so many ways. I can’t wait for the next story! If you want a storyline that cracks you up and breaks your heart at the same time, Rogue Ethereal series is for you.
